Pregnant With a Boy, Due On My Birthday, March 19th, 2008!!

Hello, as you can see, I am 7 months preggo with number 3. We are extremely excited for March to get here. Pregnancy is going as well as can be expected so far. I have 2 children, ages 8 and 6 and a wonderful husband that has been in the United States Navy for 12 years. I just graduated last semester with my AA in Elementary Education. I was suppose to start on my bachelors in the spring but the baby takes presedence..lol. We found out we are having another son due on my birthday, March 19th, and we are going to name him Sebastian. Good luck to everyone else preggo!

January 9th, 2008

30 Weeks Pregnant!!!

Finally the 30th week is here! It sounds weird to say I am 30 weeks pregnant! My little man is kicking and moving around so much! I think he is getting really big because my Hydronephrosis is getting worse! Hydronephrosis is where the uretal tube is obstructed from the uterus pushing against it which causes urine to back up into the kidney. The kidney dilates causing flank and middle back pain. I was given the choice to take pain meds/muscle relaxers or get a tube put into my urethra to my kidney for the remainder of my pregnancy. So, needless to say, I chose the pain killers. Next week I have an appointment with ultrasound to make sure there is enough fluid around the baby. I am measuring small and I had low amniotic fluid with my other two children. So, other than this stuff, my pregnancy is going along well. I have gained 16 pounds so far and everywhere I go, everyone tells me how small I am. I know I should be thankful but it gets really annoying because I think something is wrong. I guess we aren't happy whether we are big and prego or petite and prego..lol. Well, until next week, I hope everyone is feeling good and this week goes by fast!

32 Weeks Pregnant!!!

What a difference from 30 weeks to 32 weeks! I have been making sure I take a good nap during the day and take it very easy when I am awake and I have never felt better! This is the most comfortable I have ever felt this pregnancy. Nothing hurts, my little man is moving around like crazy and it's getting closer and closer every day! It will be nice when I give birth and my hormones go back to normal. I have been very short tempered with my kids and my husband. I am contemplating getting induced or going into labor naturally. Getting induced is so much harder than going into labor naturally. I have had both and would choose not to be induced over anything! The problem is I have my father who wants to be here and lives in NC, babysitting arrangements, etc. It sounds sad that I might be choosing my baby's birthday just to accomodate others! I guess I should just wait and let nature take its course. Things seem to always fall into place anyways.

34 Weeks Pregnant!!!

Here I am 34 weeks pregnant and feeling wonderful! I think it is because the little guy is still in breech position but I really don't have any complaints! I am sleeping better than I was a few weeks ago (other than the occasional bathroom break) and getting around fine. Watch, now that I post this, something will change..lol. We just finished his and room and it is adorable! We have everything ready ago including a surplus of diapers! Now for the little guy to arrive and use all of this stuff we bought for him! Well, here's to another good couple of weeks!

36Weeks Pregnant!!!

36 weeks has finally arrived! I am so ready to meet my little BREECHED man. Yes, he is still breech. I am set up for an external version (where they manually turn the baby from the outside) on Thursday, the 21st. Nervous doesn't even explain how I feel. I guess seeing all of the negativity on television about it has got me a bit scared; not for me but for him. I want him to be as stress free as possible and this procedure is quite stressful on babies. I have gone to the chiropractor who has helped tremendously and it is also suppose to help with opening the baby's space. I have also taken pulsatilla, a homeopathic remedy for turning the baby, and have propped my whole body up on the couch with my head on the ground!!! Yes, I have tried everything! That is what I am dealing with at the moment. My little man moves all of the time and is so far very healthy. I had an ultrasound done a few days ago and he was in there, sunny side up sucking his thumb! It was so incredibly cute! I am ready for him to make his entrance into the world. I even have the changing table setup in my room with everything on it! The wipes are even sitting right next to the wipe warmer waiting to be put in it! Needless to say, I have done this before x's two :). Well, until week 38, hope everyone has an incredible last few weeks. Next thing you know, we'll be crying because there isn't anything inside our bellies anymore..lol. ~Love and Happiness to all

No Longer Breech!!!

We went to the doctor yesterday to see if the baby was still breech. We had an external version set up for 6am the following morning and I didn't want to make childcare arrangements and get up at 4am, just to get there and them tell us he turned. So they squeezed me in and he is officially head down. How exciting is that. I don't know if it was everything I tried or on his own but I am ecstatic!! Now lets hope he stays that way! Now the waiting really begins. Only a few more weeks~

38 Weeks Pregnant!

Only a couple of days away to being 38 weeks pregnant! I can't believe I have made it this far! It seemed so far away not too long ago and here I am! I LOST MY MUCUS PLUG TODAY! Which means labor is upon me any day now. I can feel the baby when I am in the shower and he feels a little higher than usual. I am getting BH a lot more today which are coming on by themselves (vs. the baby or me causing them). I wonder if I am going to make it to 40 weeks!!!

39 Weeks Pregnant!

I guess I am going to make it to my due date. Last Thursday I was cleaning and doing odds and ends around the house. Next thing I knew, went into labor. Contractions were 2 minutes apart and they weren't anything like BH! So I called my husband who was headed to a recitle with my son and told him he needed to come home. We were all running around like chickens with my our heads cut off, packing bags, finishing up the dishes and called my duaghters' Dad to come pick up the kids to watch them. Next thing we knew, we were headed to the hospital. We get there, get on the bed and all hooked up and wouldn't you know, they stopped being consistent and the intensity slowed way down. I was pissed to say the least. Here I was inconveniencing everyone for nothing! So, I unhooked myself and just left for home. Now I am one day away from week 39 (5 days after having false labor) and not feeling a thing. The baby is moving around like crazy which is wonderful but there aren't any signs of labor. My oldest son came the day he was due so I am expecting this to be the same. Which means I have 8 days to go. The kids are so excited and so is my husband. I have mixed emotions. Scared about labor, knowing I am not going to have him inside of my belly anymore and also worried about the baby blues that accompany post partum. All of the emotions have me spinning, so for right now, I am taking it one day at a time, enjoying my naps and enjoying feeling him inside of me. Maybe next week, I'll have a birth story to post :) Labor dust to us all~

For us.. During confinement we need to eat lots of ginger to remove the wind.. That is chinese beliefs.. And ginger is also a cause for jaundice... So what i eat will also affect the baby if i breast feed her...

I hope that put your mind at rest about your milk supply. Do you see the milk in the corner of his mouth when you nurse? I see Erin has milk flowing in the corner of her mouth. She spills it sometimes. My sheets had milk stains all over them. I changed sheets last night. She dripped on them in several places again. I would have to wash them every single day to keep up with it though.
I hope you are having a good evening. I need to go figure out something for dinner. Its only 4:20 but better to have dinner started then wait to late. School and work tomorrow. I go to my check up with doctor on Tuesday. I am guessing a exam will be on the agenda. Have you stopped bleeding completely yet? I still have spotting and its been 30 days. Slowly stopping though. I think I am going to get in the bath with Erin again tonight. I am chilly. She hasn't gotten her bath yet (usally I give her one by 12) so we might as well. Well I do hope you are enjoying your family tonight.

Have you looked at the miraculous Dr Jack Newman's website? (world's leading breastfeeding expert? Here's a link to where I read about fenugreek and blessed thistle. Ive been taking for a few days now and I could give any dairy cow a run for her money right about now!

When you are on WIC the pump is free for as long as you need it. Check just to see if they have one available.

I'm excited for you 2 nights in a row you got some solid sleep. Erin did the same last night. Eat last at 11:30 then woke up at 4:30. After that it was more like 2 hours. Is he still in the bed with you all night or have you been able to put him at first in the bassinet? I am putting her back in the bassinet when I wake up and shes asleep.

So John is following in his Dads steps in the Navy. Neal did not go in. His brother did 4 years but hated it. Military parents can be very harsh on there kids. I think its from all there training and daily line of command they have to follow.

I have got a cold that includes a very scratchy sore throat. It sucks. I sure hope Erin won't get it. But how could she not, being next to me constantly? I hope her immunity is higher then that.

You are welcome for all the advice. I am always willing to share my opinions as long as you take it and make your own decisions on how to use it or throw it aside. It is important for all Moms to take advice but come up with there own stradegies.

I have had to cook with Erin in the front pack 2 times and I was nervous the whole time. I don't wanna hurt her. I think I just have to think ahead a little more. But as you said they smell it or something and you end up having a fussy baby.

The weather here is still in the high 50's but it is warmer then it has been. The sun was shining a little while. But its behind sdome clouds right now. I was hoping to take a walk. Hubby is home from work today so it would be nice to get out. I hope you will have Sebastian in the house while you are trying to roller blade. Silly woman. Don't break your arse!

Glad to hear you are doing well today. How did the hair turn out? Did you get it redyed? I would have done it if I was near by. :) To bad you guys weren't stationed at Whidbley Island. Its only 30 minutes away.

Blessed thistle works too, I take it with the fenugreek!

Steph1212 - Saturday, 12 April
I am taking fenugreek to increase milk supply. For me, I really do notice a huge difference. I started to take it because my little guy went through a growth spurt and I felt like I just couldn't keep up with him, he seemed unsatisfied after 40 minutes of breast feeding and he can get frustrated and lazy. After I'd say 2-3 days of taking the fenugreek, I was waking for the night feedings let's say "very full" of milk and i could even pump some extra after he had finished. Also, since I am in school full time and I have to miss some feedings, when I pump I can get over 6 ounces, whereas before taking the fenugreek, I could only get a little over 4. Also, once your supply has gone up, you can stop taking the fenugreek, and it should stay up as long as you keep using all the milk (ie feeding baby or expressing it)

Thank you..... Everyone tells me to enjoy having two hands while I can, but rite now anything seems better than being a whale. LOL.... Yeah, I figure that if I can keep myself busy thinking that I am making myself progress towards labor then I will feel better. Thank you, I know that there is not anything that is a sure thing, but it is fun to pretend that it is working.
THank you and congratualtions

I have a letdown in bed! Yes a crook of crap! Take the reglan 4 times a day and see if there is a difference.

So you are pumping lots. Good...did you borrow a good pump? Wic will loan them out. Call and get one...the medala is what I was able to get. I pump 2 ounce from each side every sitting. A good pump makes a big difference! Try getting one from them. I am pumping for dinnertime as she always screams when I am trying to cook and eat dinner. I get dinner at least a half hour later then everyone else.

Wow I know what you mean about the routine and hubby being stricter. Mine is really hard on the kids too. I hate it. Unless I want to be in a fight 24/7 with him I have to swallow alot of what I think. Hes the strictiest with my 13 yr old son. Its the military upbringing. Dad was a master chief.

I how you feel about everything falling on you at night...thats how I feel too. Neal works 12 hour days...by the time he gets home at 7pm hes tired and impatient. Then when he works closing he gets home after 10pm. When hubby leaves for the ship in May it will be challenging but you will adjust just like all the other wives. It takes a bit of time. But there are benefits to be the only parent as well...you can do things your way!

I hope you are having a good evening.

Try a different brand but be sure it is a blond not a ash! Look at the bottle too to be sure no one switched bottles...teenage pranksters.

Nice sleep last night for you!

I don't agree with the postpartum depression with reglan. I have been taking it for about 4 years. My stomach doesn't empty like it is suppose to. Pumping that much is a pain. You would be surprised how you can still get milk after you feed though. I know what she is telling you is to make your body think it needs to make more. But how does that help with letdown???!~ I would take the reglan.

startingoverat37 - Friday, 11 April
Was it an ash color? I am trying to figure out what could have went wrong. I am guessing ash. You need a blonde color that is not ash. Okay so I will assume its ash that did this. Go get your self a box of natural dark blonde (no ash) and redo it. Hair color is very simple but you do need to know things like Ash will cause a greenish tinge. I do everyones here. I am a dark blonde myself. I have not colored my hair though for over a year. I have just been so sick that I never had the energy...though I have colored everyone elses.

I know WIC gives you tons of stuff. I was on it the majority of the pregnancy as well. But you get more when you are breastfeeding. Then when they are 6 months you will also get baby cereal for them.

As for milk increase, there is a medication that works wonders...its called reglan. Just call the OB and ask them to phone it in for you. You take it 4 times a day.

You are welcome to the help...love to be a help to others. Talk soon.

startingoverat37 - Thursday, 10 April
Well the hours are a bummer but the plus side is you get him to yourselves...great bonding time alone with baby and you!

As for the dying your hair...what did you use??? bleach? or color? I need to know that first. And what brand did you use? store bought or salon type?

Congrats on the longer sleep last night!! I'm jealious of course! Up and down all night!

Have to get Erin on medical so I have to go down there. I will talk soon...

startingoverat37 - Thursday, 10 April
Did you know that breast milk can be at room temp for 6 hours? Sometimes I pump before bed. I feed that to her then I feed the rest of the bottle at the next wake up. Erins fussing I will write back in a minute.

mommaj - Thursday, 10 April
hey...hows it going?

sickasadog - Wednesday, 9 April
that is funny! At 2am this morning, I finally gave him another breast of milk, ha ha ha... he drank that and went to sleep for 3 1/2 hours. thank you god!!! it was the best sleep since birth. I am trying to hold out on expressing for another week and then I will get that pump going. ha ha ha

manda21 - Wednesday, 9 April
Thanks so much for your response! You have honestly helped me a lot already. I was only doing one breast per feeding, which left my sore on that one, but the other one felt engorged and I think it was clogging my milk ducts. I switched to feeding for ten minutes on each for each feeding and I feel so much better. Thank you so much for the advice:)

sickasadog - Tuesday, 8 April
my son is 10 and loves his brother to pieces. my daughter is 13 and thought i needed birth control, but now that the baby is here, she is in love also. I am totally for breastfeeding no matter how painful it is. i am not letting him have it without his mouth being wide open for my own survival. ha ha ha... he does the best of the 3 to empty out. I have not been engorged with this one so far. he is too piggly so I am going from on demand to controlling it since he is not. ha ha ha what's up with you? I am still trying to adjust to the lack of sleep.

startingoverat37 - Tuesday, 8 April
your profile says you have not been on in over 3 months...I have seen the same thing on other peoples profiles as well. How was your first day with kids back to school? Quiet? My son came home sick from school.
I read the story of julz. Wow not what you want to read about. Its just devastating. I hope you are doing well. Your Hubby goes back to work Thursday. How do you feel about the day approaching?

jenn1022 - Tuesday, 8 April
Thanks, I was waiting for him (hubby) to get upset and I just lost it, even if I made an a$$ of myself I don't care it was wrong what they did! If I can't find a new doc soon I will just take him into urgent care. He would probably be seen quicker there than the stupid Dr.'s office I went to today!

jalsmom2004 - Monday, 7 April
Thank you so much! Wow, our babies were the same size and our birth stories are similar. Congrats to you and your family!
