birth story for Zane Fadil Oseneme - born 11th June 5.56am

birth was ace i was induced due to pre clampsia, got admitted to hospital on the 6th after my blood pressure went to 170/100, was put on a 24 hour urine test and that showed i had protein in my urine,. was told on the 9th i would be induced on the 10th.

went to be induced and was already dialated so just needed waters breaking, then had drip put in to bring on contractions and had epidural, this was at 11.35pm, i then slept till 3am, midwide checked i was fully dialated then slept for 2 more hours and at 5.15 started pushing, he arrived at 5.56 then placenta arrived 10 mins later!!
well they do say bad pregnancy = good labour. had 4 stiches but in no pain and my bleeding is now like a light period.
loving having him home and chilling with him, hes good so far (early days i know)

he weighed 8lb 10oz and is 20 inches long!! he was the longest limbs ever

Hi there. Not quiet sure what to write its bizarre i hate talking about myself! Well i live with my man in UK in Newcastle.Im a born and bred Geordie (for anyone not from UK this is the slang for a person born in Newcastle) and my mans from Nigeria but now lives in Newcastle (obviously!!) This is our first baby. It was a planned/unplanned pregnancy - basically neither of us had kinda said lets try but we'd never taking any precautions either. So needless to say when i fell preg within a few days of not using condoms we were both in shock followed immediatley by being v v v happy.

I dont feel its real yet - i dont think i will until i see a heartbeat (roll on 18th Dec) and then i'll panic!! HA HA

Update

Well i had my scan on 18th Dec and all was well. It was quite emotional seeing our baby move around - i guess because up until that point the only thing telling you that you are pregnant is a few sticks with blue lines on. I had myself down at that point at around 11 weeks and 6 days however the scan put me at 12 weeks and 3 days so my due date moved to 28th June from what i estimated at aroun 1/2 July.

I have my 20 week scan on the 12th of Feb and we have both decided we want to find out the sex of our child so im double excited. Personally im just generally a very impatient person and the thought of not finding out and waiting a further 20 weeks would drive me mad. I have great respect for those who can hang in there and find out on the day - that would be such a trip. Not bought anything for my baby yet - ive decided to wait until 12th Feb and then im gonna spend spend spend! :-))) My sister who is v v v excited (almost to the point of exploding) did buy me some booties and a bib as a little xmas gift - it was so sweet however must admit it kinda freaked me out for 2 mins (ha ha) made it even more real. Anyway have arranged my first shopping trip with my sister on the12th of Feb straight after my scan - so we'll see if where buying blue or lemon (im soooo NOT a pink girl although no doubt i'll have to giv in at some point if our babies a girl)

It is definatly battle of the sexes. My mans 1 of 7 children, 6 of which are boys and 1 girl, 1 of his brothers has 3 boys and his sister has just had a baby boy - so on the Momoh Side its boys ruling the roost. however on the Calder side girls seem to rock the world - out of the 11 first born children to my aunties and uncles every single one has been a girl!! So its girls who rule my side and boys who rule my mans side. I keep winding him up and saying he knows girls are the stronger sex and to just accept its a girl were having!! ha ha - im soooo cruel - well im preg im allowed to be ha ha. Either way i'll be happy with what we are giving. Preference is slightly towards a boy only because i know what I got up to in my wild child days (i say child it lasted from age of 17 - 30!!) partying and holidaying hard, having fun fun fun and there is NO way i'd want a child of mine to get upto what i did so thats scaring me if its a girl (think the words lock and key come to mind ha ha)

Well i'll sign off for now and will next update after my 20 week scan.

Good luck to all of you out there

UPDATE FROM FRIDAY 25TH JAN

Had a midwife appointment, rountin for my records to be updated with my blood test results (which were all fine and dandy) - she took my blood pressure (which was up from 130/76 to 140/88) which is just through stresses at work so i had a feeling it would be - have been warned to chill cause she said if it goes over 95 on the bottom bit i'll be on bed rest :-(( - she then asked me to climb on the bed so she could listen to the babys heart - OMG is it was the most amazing thing EVER EVER EVER - i could hear BM's (baby Momohs) little heart beating away so so fast, it felt so much better than the 12 week scan did - i loved seeing BM on the screen but hearing BM's heart beating was just out of this world. It also helped reassure me everything was hunky dory and has made me even more excited if at all possible, fo the 20 week scan on 12th Feb - Will be great to find out the sex and know if BM is a he or a she - counting down the days

UPDATE 10TH FEB

Looking forward to Tuesday for 20 week scan, very excited to hopefully find out the sex of our tiny tot.
On the downside I have developed Carpol Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) which is extermerly painful, its basically pins and needles in your whole hands (bar your little finger which is strange), its there nearly all of the day, although during the day it tends to be just a slight tingling in your finger tips. During the night is when the agony starts, was awake this morning at 5.30am which it in my left hand, it didnt start to ease until 6.25am and it now gives me pains all down my forearm as well, you know how horrible it is getting just pins and needles in your hand to then move it and it goes almost straight away, with this it takes nearly an hour to go once it kicks in fully, wouldnt wish it on my own worst enemy. Am waiting on a physio appointment from hospital and when i go there i should be getting some gloves with splints in the help ease it up (very attractive eh!! lol) Im very worred as ALL web page say it disappears AFTER pregnancy!! i seriously cant stand another 20 plus weeks of this pain. Ah well will see what Tuesday brings and try in meantime to stay focussed on baby rather than pain running through my hands/arm

12th FEB UPDATE

ITS A BABY BOY!!! very very very pleased - scan was great and there was no hiding the fact we were having a boy - and double bonus is everything is perfect - he's as fit and healthy as can be expected. roll on 20 weeks time

29th Feb update

well as much as i love my boy already im not loving the ailments he's giving me!! im now on weekly visits to my midwife, my blood pressure is 130/90 (got told off her if it goes / 91 then im sent straight to hospital for tests!!) I have the worst water retention in my lower legs, ankles and feet and its now in my hands!! - i raise my feet at night and by morning its loads better, 30 mins after i get up its back!! I also have CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME, have been for physio and got splints (on 20th feb) but due to hands swelling there making gloves tight so having to go back on 6th march for more gloves. Also heartburn kicking in but that i can cope with. Only plus points are i dont have headaches, dizzyness etc

Back at midwife on wednesday, getting worried incase my blood pressure goes to that dreaded 91 - company i work for has just been taken over and we are relocating as of Monday (better for me location wise) but gonna be v v busy for first few weeks and stress will be high, worried incase i get put on bed rest or something as it just wont look good for new company.. feel bad as just start on the 3rd and i already have 4 appointments in for preg related visits to docs/physio etc - Oh man! what can i do eh!

Praying i dont have Preeclampsia - looked on web and i have symptons similar!!

UPDATE 5TH MARCH

Yipppeeeeeeee!! Blood pressure down panic off. Went to midwife today and its down from 130/90 to 130/80!! which is just great. midwife very happy however told me to chill out, and said if i go to 91 then i will be signed off on the sick until after i have the baby!! So i really have to chill. Still have elephant feet and hands but i dont care as tiny tot is just as safe as house.

Also he's really started kicking now - love it full on punches and kicks, nothing faint or soft oh no full on blows!! LOVE IT! and LOVE HIM!!

UPDATE 15TH MARCH!

where do i start - yesterday was such an awful day for me. dont get me wrong nothing bad has happened to baby or me but i had a feeling of what it would be like if it did. Early in week had pain on inner thigh at top of my leg, got mirror out (as you do saying as belly wont allow me to just bend forward and get clear view!) and saw a spot there, didnt worry about it, then thursday night noticed the spot had become like a boil, so felt it and it was like a malteaser and very very painful, went to bed to forget the pain, couldnt sleep was up and down like a yo yo, eventually settled in spare room. At 7am got up for the toilet, was just sitting on the toilet and caught a glance at my panty liner (yes i know im one of them who seems to be leaking fluid all day every day!! - nice eh!! lol) and there was a but of blood on there, so instantly got up and looked in toilet and it was FULL of blood, my heart droppped i screamed, burst into tears, called for my man, who jumped out of bed and came to see what was going on, he looked in toilet (surprisingly as he HATES sight of blood) flushed chain, said everything is fiine, held me whilst i was bawling my eyes out and told me to keep calm, everything was fine and to go back into toilet and clean myself up and see where it was comng from. I was soooo scared, got some toilet roll, wiped my bits and NO blood, still hadnt clicked what was happening, then put toilet roll on where the boil was and it was covered in blood, never for a moment did i think the boil would have blood in it, i assumed it would be water like fluid or puss (gross i know sorry!!!) it was like the biggest relief every. I would never wish what i felt when it first happened onto anyone. Anyway luckily had midwife appoint that morning so went and got it checked out, its just a boil (large one) that the doctor said.. surprise suprise... "can happpen in pregnancy" - ha ha when are my bad ailments gonna end please! Carpal tunnel really bad, water retention in feel really bad, heartburn really bad, and now BOILS!! im such a lady!! lol. anyway on penicillin tablets for a week to keep infection abay and reduced swelling of it. Good news was BZ was measureing just fine, his head is at the bottom, blood pressure fine etc so thats all that matters. I NEVER WANT TO FEEL THAT FEELING AGAIN THOUGH - I swear i can not belive how much love i have for my little boy and i have yet to meet him. Its like he IS my life now and i wouldnt have it any other way.

MONDAY 24TH MARCH UPDATE

Was determain this easter weekend for Abs to feel BZ move, however BZ had other ideas, and has hardly moved all weekend, i couldnt belive it. Then this morning with all the excitement of watching Maury (lol) he got really active, so lifted up my top prodded my stomach and said to Ab "look", and on cue he punched back and my belly moved so he saw it, it happened again and he saw it again. Then got abs hand and rested it on my belly for twenty mins and at last he felt the kicks!! felt about 4 of them, 2 strong ones and 2 softer ones. Im soooooo pleased as i keep saying "oh he's just kicked" "oh bless he's punching my lower belly" etc so i think it was getting to him a bit that he wasnt part of that. Phew the relief! happy days all around.

UPDATE APRIL 13TH

Hi everyone, just a quick one so you can read latest and reason why ive not really been on here or replied to loads of messages. Well Carpal tunnel is now so bad i have permanement numbness in my hands (mostly my right) so it makes it really diffficult to type (im typing this with my 2 little fingers) its driving me insane as this site is the one thing thats kept me going through this pregnancy. So really i wanna apologise to anyone i dont reply to its not that im ignoring you its just after being at work its ni on impossible to use my hands and after typing for 3 mins the numbness is almost unbareable. So please bare with me :-) WILL PROB USE MY BLOG TO UPDATE A LOT MORE SO KEEP CHECKING IT OUT AND IF NUMBNESS DOES GO (wishful thinking) THEN I'LL BE STRAIGHT BACK ONLINE REGULARLY

So u can see my hands are worse, my swelling in my feet is worse and on friday it went to my hands, so popped to docs and alls well she just said it looks like thats now where its next heading which makes sense with the carpal tunnel being this bad.

Also have to go back on thursday for bloods taking again as my glucose was high. OH and did i mention i now have pelvic seperation so permanently feel like ive been on a 10 hour bike ride, painful walking and standing up after having being laid down or sat down. This preg has defo been sent to test me out and after weeks of crying. moaning, being down about it im just now trying to stay focus, when im down Baby Z is defo down as he slows his kicks which isnt good. So i have to now chill. have some time off work (well random days, mon, wed and fri this coming week and mon and fri the following) cant take sick time off as this company i now work for doesnt pay sick pay!! nightmare eh - company only got taking over 1st march (one i workd for for 15 years prior DID pay for sick pay)

ANYWAY i hope alll u mummys are doing just great.

Special hello to Gemma, Lisa and Claire who are defo 3 people who've kept me going although they all prob think im blanking them now :-(

update friday 25th april - 31 WEEK MIDWIFE VISIT

well its not too bad this report - well not to bad (ish), had 31 week visit today - my 2nd glucose text reading was ok just ok (you have to be between 3.1 - 6.1 for it to be within the limit) my first one was 9.6!! and this 2nd one was 5.9 - so im at far end of the "ok" senario. midwife rang hospital to see if they wanted her to do another test - they said its ok for now just to monitor me.

Im measuring at 33-34weeks - so midwife was slightly concerned at this point, so said at next visit (34 weeks) to make sure i dont have breaky cause if i am measuring more than 4cm bigger than your week (i.e. week 34 is i was measuring 38cm) then i'd be off to hospital for scan and she'd defo need to do a 3rd glucose test as sign of diabetes is big baby!! OMG and i have thoughts of him just popping out!!

trying not to worry so much - my blokeys big and tall and broad and maybe he's taking after his dad. My blood pressure back up 120/90 and 118/87 - again midwife not too worried just monitoring me and keeping an eye on it.

Baby in normal position he was in last time (head down) and his heart was beating away (love it!!)

well till next midwife visit

FRIDAY 2ND MAY UPDATE

Just thought i'd put down a bit for the hell of it. ALL ailments still firmly in place :-( hopfully there coming towards the end saying as there all pregnancy related!! cant belive potentially only 8 weeks OR LESS left! i cant wait to meet my boy see how cute he is. I AM OFFICIALLY MATERNAL! about time too!!

just getting his room sorted out - hope to have it done in next 2 weeks - have everything i need - matresses, cotbeds, crib, its already painted just need to finalise it all.

on brighter note - start maternity 15th MAY (that being my last day) and off until 17th November!! RESULT - I CAN NOT WAIT! 6 months of ZERO work! its the way forward - although i im sure baby Z will make sure i dont stop for too long and to help things along i got word a claim i had in for a car accident i was in is coming through in 3/4 weeks for £1335!! which will sure help things, not bad considering im totally fine, i had a stiff neck for about month and half and 1 lot of NHS physio sorted it straight out!! so its come at the right time, means i can add £300 a month to my "salary" when the crap £112.50 a week maternity pay kicks in.

WHO KNOWS MAYBE MY NEXT POST ON HERE WILL BE TELLING U HIS WEIGHT!! LOL - till laters

BYE :-) xxx

friday 16th may update

Just back from the midwife!! What a visit. Now have traces of protein in my urine so had to do another sample for them to send off - find out Mon/Tue for that - cause of the swelling i have and blood pressure slightly on the high side of OK there monitoring me for preclampsia.

Also BZ measures at a RIDICULOUS 40 weeks!!although it was a different midwife and she seemed to measure slightly differently but then again she is a MIDWIFE and knows the crack (think im clutching at straws!) Come on! purrrllleeesseee, i want a baby NOT a toddler. So had to have another Glucose blood test again which i'll hear about on Monday

Now on weekly midwife visits again. So i could have 1 or the other of the above, or neither or both!! What the......

will update once i know more. Oh apart from that He's a cool dude inside heartbeating away and chilling out unlike his mum

starting to think Madame Zaritska's reading below is possibly gonna be true

20th May 2008

Rang docs today and everything is just fine with both the above test results. my glucose was 5.4 which is within the 3.1 and 6.1 bracket and no protein was found in my sample *Phew*

At midwife on friday again and hoping she sends me for a growth scan which im assuming she may - and im praying they find lots of water off my water retention and NOT a toddler or ten stone of FAT/weight gain!lol

will update once i know.

update 28th may

well 1 month till tot is due and was at a growth scan at hospital. had really good news for once. He's not a toddler!! he's an average size baby for his internal age - weighing in at 5lb 11oz! Yipppeee reason im measuring so far ahead is i hae swelling around lower stomach and carrying a lot of water. have so much swelling at bottom of stomach that i couldnt get a good view of his little face. saw his cute hands, feet, body but with him being head down right where all swelling is we could only see outline. Ah well i'll seee him soon no doubt. happy days :-)

Thought i'd cheer myself up - have a laugh at the below - Very worry is the 10lb!! ha ha ha

Madame Zaritska's reading

Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience.

What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be rainy. Your baby will arrive at night.

After a labor lasting approximately 3 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 5 ounces, and will be 18-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and be almost bald.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

lol no such luck! i've been down the sea front with hubby trying to entice her out with chips but no such luck. i was starting to get concerned that maybe this child is not related to me as i'll usually do anything for a bag of chips but then hubby pointed out that she's stubborn, late and obviously a bit of a drama queen and i realised like mother like daughter!
sweep tomorrow- can't w8 to have some strange woman fiddling around with my downstairs region- yay! :D
hope u had a nice wkend...saw on facebook you had a few hours to yourself- hope u used them wisely lol! x

thanks hun...lol yer i always read the week by week stuff too! he started his job in may so that's why he's not entitled to it but he said his employers r going to sort something out and he's really good to them so i think he will be able to wangle something. just was so cross that they told him this now when im due any min- was a proper shock!
oh u r so lucky- he is obviously a very contented baby! whatever ur doing let me in on the secret...sure i will be needing it...(one day!!!!)
i know exactly what u mean abt wanting to experience the natural starting of labour- i really want to be able to wake Will up or ring him and say 'it's time' but i just have a feeling now that it's not going to happen and she will have to be dragged out of me. at this point im even preparing myself for a c section cos i know the further on we get the more likely it is- not being negative just realistic!
lol i wont be changing my status on fb as lots of Will's family on there and don't want the evil mother in law trying to break the door down and get in but if i get chance i'll msg u or as u say you'll c i've not been on here for a while...think im constantly glued to it atm!
thanks for all ur support love...hope i have good news and piccies soon :D xxx

here is something that is good to know................ Raise a good sleeper A typical newborn sleeps between 16 and 18 hours a day, and your baby should be physically able to sleep through the night — that is, sleep for at least six to eight hours straight — sometime between 6 weeks and 6 months of age. In fact, by 3 months, more than 90 percent of babies can and do sleep through the night, although they may still have weeks of night waking due to growth spurts or developmental changes. Exactly when this magical milestone happens can vary greatly, depending both on your baby's individual development and the healthy sleep habits you establish. Some hints: Create a consistent bedtime routine. Doing things in the same way every evening at about the same time helps your baby, who can't tell time, get the idea that sleep is expected soon. Example: Bathe, dress for bed, feed, rock until drowsy but not asleep, place in crib. Set the scene for sleep. When you put your baby to bed, the lights should be off and curtains drawn. Use a crib light or a night-light to give you just enough light to see by. Keep the room quiet or use a white-noise machine or lullaby CD to block out sounds from the rest of the house. Don't wait until your baby is asleep in your arms. Put your baby down to sleep when he's drowsy but still awake. This helps him learn to fall asleep on his own, without being rocked or fed to sleep. If he awakens on his own later, he'll be better able to go back to sleep without needing to cry out for you to rock him.
