THE BIRTH

The waiting time is almost over. Expectation leaps.

Grasping branch, trunk or house-pole, a woman bends and bears down

over the birthing nest of soft fern or wool, sand, fur or moss:

“Be brave, my love ... Not long ... I see the head.

Reach down and touch.”

Women lean forward, pour water in the bowl,

warm the receiving blanket, wind swaddling bands,

make the mother's strengthening broth.

Then comes that first strange animal cry in the night

like a lamb bleating on moorland,

a child's astonished salute to life.

With birthing a woman has opened her body and given.

Now she takes in, draws to herself,

prints on her being knowledge of this child distinct from all others.

These are the bonds that turn a woman to tiger to defend her child,

shield against danger, that tune her ear to the cry in the night

and bring loving arms to lift her baby to the milk-rich breast.

It was a false alarm, or just alert, really. I was getting the mindset of being in labor and I think I scared myself out of it! lol. Hopefully I can get it all over with this weekend though. I'm so anxious to just be done with it so I can stop worrying! Today was my grandma's birthday and I remember we thought I'd have had her already by now. Now she said she thinks Sunday. We'll see.

Hi Newlifehopes- I love all your youtube links etc... They are great. Not so sure that lady who almost pooped on her babies head was very informative just gross LOL.... My husband was gagging when I showed him the video but, you could not help to laugh. When I was at birthing class I had just seen that video link and some of the women were discussing concerns about pooping on baby. And the instructor said, not to worry will not happen. My husband turn to me and both of our faces were so red and we giggled the class looked at us and we told them about the video everyone was cracking up....I like the hypno therapy etc.. Since I also going natural i'm reading a ton of books.... Wish you the best delivery as well.

NO! I was hoping to be, but she said I looked the same as last week! Disappointing. The worst part is thinking these last couple weeks "any time now" and it's just not happening. I think I'd rather have progressed slower to begin with than being on pins and needles for what looks like coming up on 4 weeks.
Yeah, I had told him yesterday that if there was no change that we'd have to get busy. So he comes home from work already taking his pants off! lol. Then I had to break it to him that we should wait until tomorrow so he can make his appointments just in case it actually works.
So he's out right now getting some nasty McDonalds. This will be the second time I've eaten fast food this pregnancy, but I'm bummed and want something stupid like Mcnuggets. I feel like I'm confessing a sin. :P

Oh, I like the name Sadie. They're all nice choices though. I used to have a landlord named Joy so maybe I care for that one a little less. :P

Haha, Eric's been better, or should I say I've been less touchy about his little quirks. When I was writing that last time it was right after he ruined my enjoyment of my sandwich by staring at me the whole time. I seriously am selfish about my food. I hate talking or feeling like I have to entertain while eating something good. I know he is just trying to be sweet or something when he does that, like he's giving me more attention, but usually it's just annoying.

I know I'm not overdue or anything and there's still a bit more time, but when am I going to have this baby already! I've been telling people 'about a week' for like 3 weeks now because of being so dilated for all that time. After today, I'll have been pregnant longer than I was with Chiron. I have my birth center bag packed and I washed the couple garments I wanted to bring, but since I have little to wear at this point because none of my usual clothes fit me I've been having to wear it and it's creating a dull kind of anxiety about having to hurry up and rewash it after I wear it so it's all ready to go.

I agree, I really didnt want the drip, I had been actively moving around throughout the whole labour and as soon as they hooked me up i had to lay on the bed, and thats when it all started to go wrong. Looking back i wished i would have stuck to my guns but when your in that position you kind of trust the doctors judgements. but the main thing is he got here safely x

I don't like to claim him as my cat... my husband had him before I knew him and he's making me so mad these days... Peeing all over the house!

This was my first time going to a chiropractor. It's been great. It opens up your hips and my posture has improved tenfold. Are you planning a water birth?

zenmarmot - Thursday, 13 November
I have been seeing a chiropractor for a number of weeks and it has been a great help. We are having a home birth and I feel anything to keep the body aligned is good. My midwives suggest acupuncture also to get ready.

Hi! They told me when i had a scan a few weeks back that the length of baby was bigger than expected...but that could mean anything, maybe he's just tall! How is your pregnancy going? I too have had very low pains and can feel baby's movement a lot just above my pubic line! Hope ur well xx
