Alanna has arrived! Please check out our Birth Story!

---------------------------------------------------------------

I am very excited about this pregnancy. This is my first baby and it means the world to me already. I feel like being a mom is my real purpose in life! My husband and I both have no blood relatives in our lives....so this is a big deal. :)

So far, my favorite things about being pregnant are:

-feeling the baby move. It always makes me smile.

-My belly bump

-hearing the heartbeat/seeing the baby moving on the Ultrasound

-daydreams about holding our baby when he/she is born, daydreams about the baby sleeping on my chest, daydreams about the first smile

-sitting in our new rocking chair and invisioning us in the nursery with the baby

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hello, friends, I just thought I'd take advantage of my mama-bragging-rights... Maisie rolled over for the first time this evening! I'm so proud of her. She was working so hard at it, and her hard work finally paid off. I cheered and cheered for her... you would've thought she just hit the winning run in the World Series! :) Hope you all are well...

I did it COMPLETLY NATURALLY to, 5 of my friends had there babies around 2 - 5 apart of me and all of them did drugs.

Ah, yes, the lovely late-night cluster feeds! Maisie has been doing that too for the past 2 nights &it's driving me insane! I seriously was up every hour last night. I probably should be sleeping instead of visiting this website! :)
I also started pumping about 4 days after she was born, and was concerned that I didn't produce a lot of milk. But if you keep at it, it'll probably increase. I pumped this morning in place of a feeding that my husband did by bottle, and I got 5 oz! I couldn't believe it. I wasn't pumping anywhere near that in the beginning. And I was also concerned about nipple confusion if I gave her a bottle, but she lost weight in the hospital & we had to supplement her w/ pumped breast milk from a bottle, and she's done just fine with it. Still eats from my breast.
Hope you're able to get some sleep soon!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your positive natural birth story. I will be giving birth without pain meds (in Japan where they don't really use them) and am a little nervous. But your story really helped me!

Congratulations. Alanna is beautiful.

Congratulations! I want to do it natural but I am kind of nervous.

Wow! Congratulations on doing everything naturally! You've given me new confidence that I can do it, too! (My son was born in a hospital with pitocin and an epidural, and I was completely dissastisfied with the experience. This time we're going with a birth center and NO DRUGS!) So, thank you for sharing your story! Birth is a natural thing, and I'm feeling less terrified. :)

not gonna happen for me--you are superwoman. this is my second and I want the epidural already--not trying to be a hero! LOL . You are a brave soul

Congrats!!! Doesn't it feel good to know that you did it by yourself! It is so empowering! I'm proud of you for leaving the hospital! They would have ended up giving you pitocin!!!

Congratulations. Enjoy your new Daughter. I am almost there.

mplsmama - Thursday, 19 June
Wow, congrats! I read your birth story, that is absolutely wonderful that you did it all w/o any meds! Very cool. I'm glad everything went well for you.
As far as sleeping... wish I had some words of wisdom! I'm struggling a bit w/ the same thing. Maisie sleeps after feedings generally, but at night she's been wanting to cluster-feed, like every 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs. It's so draining! I'm breastfeeding, but also pumping so that at least my husband can bottle feed one of the nighttime feedings. That seems to have helped. I also wish we could get her on a better schedule. All in time, I guess! Are you breastfeeding? How's that going? I'm finally getting the hang of it, but it was really challenging at first.
Enjoy your beautiful baby girl! :)

mplsmama - Thursday, 19 June
Look at that gorgeous head of hair! She's a doll!

mplsmama - Friday, 6 June
Hey thanks! Yeah, I'm pretty excited to be a mom, it's amazing! I am so happy to be home w/ her. She's a good little nurser, sleeps well, and smiles a ton! I agree, that pic of her smiling is the cutest. I can't wait for you to have yours too! Keep me posted on everything! Are you feeling ready?
PS -- our cat is definitely a bit jealous, and acting sad, but is leaving her totally alone, thank goodness!
