This is the first baby for my husband and I and we are so excited!! We have been married for over a year and half now and have been talking about adding a new member to the family for some time. We have been contemplating if we should wait a while before having children, but before we knew it, I was pregnant. God has a plan for us. My husband and I couldn't be any happier... we truly are very blessed. I just pray for a healthy baby.

We found out that we are having a baby boy!! My husband can now start the little army of men he wanted :) I am super excited and cannot wait to see my little man!

Congratulations to all you mommies and mommies to be out there! 2008 will be a great year for all of us!!!

Birth Story

All day Thursday (May 8) I was having mild contractions... not painful at all. Sleeping was a little difficult though. Friday morning around 12:30am, they started to get a little more intense, but still manageable. I definitely couldn't sleep and ended up going for a walk at 1:30am and went to a 24 hour grocery store at 3am to get my mind off things. I did not sleep at all that night. I was still having contractions every 5-8 minutes (not consistent at all). Doc said to go to the hospital when they are 3-5mins apart and extremely painful. It was about 10:30am and I decided to go to the hospital even though contractions weren't as painful because I was worried about the baby's heart rate. The nurses checked me as soon as I got to the hospital and I was already 5cm dilated and still 80% effaced. She said I would definitely deliver by tonight. So I got checked into a birthing room and away we went. I was hooked up to fetal monitors every so often to check the baby's heart rate and another device to check how strong my contractions were and how often they were happening. I told the nurses that I didn't want the epidural and that only if I asked for it would they give it to me. So a few hours had passed, probably around 5pm the nurse checked to see if I had further dilated and she said that I hadn't. She suggested I have my waters break. So with some serious thought, Jay and I decided that if I wasn't progressing I would have them break my water. Se we decided to do it. I believe it was around 6-7pm that my water was broken (Doc came in and broke it with what looked like a crochet hook). My contractions immediately started to hurt... REAL BAD!! I started having intense back labor and honestly I thought a bomb had gone off in my ass!! I really tried to focus on my breathing which worked for awhile. The nurse then suggested I hop into the jacuzzi, which helped a bit, but it still hurt really bad. The back labor killed me and was CONSTANT!! I had no breaks in between... maybe like 30 sec breaks, not even! So it got to a point where I just couldn't handle it and asked for the epidural :( I wish they had checked me to see how much I've dilated before I got the epidural because I was pretty much at 8cm. I was in my own little world and just wanted the epidural... I couldn't think of anything else but pain relief. As soon as the anesthesiologist came in and gave me the drugs, I felt sooooo much better. I still felt the contractions in my abdomen, but my back labor had stopped. Apparently the baby's face was face up instead of face down which is why I had severe back labor. However as soon as I got the epidural, the nurse told me I was ready to push! I was so excited... finally I get to see my little man! So I ended up pushing for 1.5 hours. It was intense and hard to push when you can't feel anything. My mom, MIL, SIL and my sister were all in the room when I gave birth. Initially I told them not to look, but it got to a point where I didn't care at all. I even told my husband not to look cuz it ain't a pretty sight, but they all say it was such a beautiful experience.... not gross at all. Anyhow, as soon as Nathanael came out, the first thing the Doc and all the nurses said was "Oh what a big baby!" They immediately put him on me (he was not at all bloody) and I cried. Hubby had some tears and I think everyone else was teary eyed. I'll never forget that moment, it was truly beautiful. Nathanael was 8lbs and 19.3inches long. Oh and I also had an episiotomy and have a few stitches down there. As far as recovering, I am feeling a lot better now. A day after giving birth I had severe headache's that only went away when laying down. Apparently I had a spinal leak, I think it occurs in 1 in every 200 epidural cases. How lucky. On top of that, I have numb knees. I can still walk, but they buckle when I bend at a certain point. I ended up going to the emerge Wednesday night and Doc said I could get a blood patch done which is injecting blood into my spine to fill up the space, but no freakin' way! Thank God the headaches are gone now.

With all that said, it was truly an experience and all worth it. I am soooo in love with him :)

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Thank You! The natural med-free labor wasn't really bad at all, it did help that it was fast though too lol. I hope you have an equally fast labor! Good Luck to you!

about waxing my friend had a brazillian done for her delivery and she said it was the WORST pain ever almost worse than the labour and delivery, you have to remember these people do this for a living and they have probably seen some way out of control pubes in their career!!

Tiffers28 - Monday, 28 April
Hey girl, regarding your question, I have thought seriously about getting mine waxed before also, cause I shave on a regular basis but let's face it, its hard enough to shave your legs let alone your vaginal area! lol My only thing keeping me from doing it, is having to go somewhere and having someone do that. lol Maybe they can knock me out so I won't be so embarrassed! rofl! But it is easier to keep clean after and you are able to keep the stitches area clean if you have to get those done, at least it was with my second boy, it was also easy with my first and I didn't shave then, that was like 11 years ago. lol Good luck either way and good luck on you pregnancy!!!!

my-lil-miracle - Monday, 28 April
Hey whats up? I am also week 39 and just read ur question about a Brazillian, it's fine, but I had one done once and it gave me little "razor burn bumps'... gross but whatever, it last summer and super hot though, so I guess just do research on it on the computer and make ur decision! I wanted to get one too but I remembered how hot it is over here and didn't want to have that going on down there when the dr.'s keep checking me... Goodluck!

mommy2ck - Monday, 28 April
i've been waxing down there for about a year now - it's fantastic, you will feel great! plus i hear it makes recovering after birth so much "cleaner" feeling. especially if you tear or have an episiotomy. it's completely safe - but it does hurt a bit...especially your first time, after that the hair grows in so much softer so it's easier to wax the next time.

momma-in-may - Sunday, 20 April
Thanks...we love his name! Good luck pickin out a middle name for ur little man! Girl names really are easier...
Anywho, hope ur little guy is healthy and happy (and you as well!)...It will be all worth it...talk later!!!

momma-in-may - Saturday, 19 April
Oh I know! I have sausage fingers!!! I can't wear my wedding ring... :(. I really enjoyed being preggo up until this 3rd trimester. I feel like I'm dying! I can barely walk and if this goes on for much longer...well, I just don't know! haha

Aw I love that name! Our little guy's name is Noah (very biblical, lol)Alexander.

momma-in-may - Saturday, 19 April
haha seems as if we're "suffering" from the same things. AH! I wake up in the morning and can't move my fingers! Does that happen to you? My cervix feels like its just gonna fall out!!!!!! ahh sorry. lol. I don't think I can take anymore. He better come soon! Have you chose a name for you little guy yet? Have you had so much pain "down there" that you couldnt walk??? I get that pain allll the time. All Ic an do is rest and stay still...which is nearly impossible when ya haveta pee every 2 minutes. geeez...

momma-in-may - Saturday, 19 April
omg yes! It hurts soooooo bad! i was in tears yesterday bc of the pain...ah! just want my Noah out NOW!!! haha...how are you feeling?
