I am a stay at home mom with a 3 year old son. First pregnancy was planned, this one was a surprise. I am very excited and can't wait until May!! I am sort of hoping for a little girl this time, but I will be perfectly happy with a boy.

katiedyd20102 - Tuesday, 17 November lol those could be my words exactly!! i worry that my worrying will cause a miscarriage--thats what my husband says: "if you think bad thoughts something will happen." pisses me off when he says that.. dont know if its supposed to help me stop worrying, but certainly doesnt! my stomach is huge, but in all honestly, ive gotten "fat" before, and my stomach sticks out just like this whenever i eat too much, so i cant really even tell if im really showing. my appt is thursday too, no US schedulued, but i think they will check hb w. a doppler, so we'll see....
MayBebe - Friday, 6 November FYI I was just at a convention interviewing lung physicians. I spoke to a medical director and very promenant dr. about the vaccine. The effects of this flu is very alarming. It is very debilitating to your system which causes many secondary infections including pnemonia and respiratory infection even death. They haven't seen a strain like this sinces the 50's and perhaps a spell in the 70's. Pregnant women are very suseptable. 28 women have died in California alone since April. Since flu season hasn't even started they have no idea how bad this may get.The strain has not mutated as of yet, but that is a huge concern. Also, the antibodies you produce also protect the baby. It can protect them up to 6months after they are born when the immune system is weakest. The specialist told me that he would absolutely recommend anyone especially pregnant women to get the vaccine. I asked about the preservative used and he said that there is nothing proving that is has caused any problems. If you do not take the vaccine and do get the virus or have been exposed you will immediately be put on Tamiflu. If you look up that information, you will find that it is a class C drug and not recommended for pregnant women unless they have been exposed. I too have heard about concerns and have opted to get the vaccine. We have many more weeks of exposure and this is no normal seasonal flu. Getting it at any time might be harmful. Also my midwife is pregnant (about a month ahead of us). She had to go on Tamiflu, she is or has already gotten both the flu and the H1N1 vaccine. I completely recognize the dilemna.
mamacass1219 - Friday, 6 November see, i just can't bring myself to get any flu shot... 10 years ago, i got my very first regular flu shot, and i got so damn sick i thought i was going to die.. since then, haven't gotten the flu shot, nor have i gotten the flu (knock on wood)- with this h1n1 i've heard so much controversary on it, and with docs and nurses against it while people are trying to get them to take it... it makes me wonder why the heck wont the docs/nurses even get it?... and i've read like 7 articles on it now where the shot hasn't even been properly tested... well, i guess everyone has their own feelings/thoughts about it though.personally, i think that everyone is getting a bit TOO freaked out because of the media... but people should obviously take caution with it ya know?. but i will not be getting it. i think it's silly for me if i refuse to get a regular flu shot, to get the other one.. it's not that rampid around here tho. i haven't looked at a scale since i found out i was pregnant. lmao. i feel fat, but i'm finally gettin a little pudge... which makes me feel great since i hadn't gotten one until month 8 with my last! :-). although not fitting into my jeans is a bit sad haha.
