WE ARE BAKIN' A JAMAICAN!Our Vacation to Gatlinburg, Tennessee

My Birth Story
On Thursday, August 23rd, I went to my doctor in anticipation of being admitted to the hospital for induction since I was overdue. They put me on the monitor and I was having consistent contractions. My husband and I just KNEW I would be giving birth that day. My doctor came and checked me and I was still on dialated to 1cm which I had been since early July. She sent me home but scheduled me to be induced on Monday, August 27th. My husband and I were sooooo disappointed, but we knew that everything would work according to God's will. On Saturday, August 25th, I started losing my mucus plug. I was having contractions off and on, but nothing consistent. All day and night, I would have strong contractions, to the point of not being able to sleep, but they were not in any pattern...just here and there. Sunday morning, at about 11am, I started vomiting. I didn't know what was going on. Around 2pm, I called the on-call service at my doctor's office to get her advice about when I should go to the hospital because the contractions were stronger, but still not regular. She said to wait until they're 5 to 7 minutes apart and take some Tylenol or Benadryl for the pain. I did, but nothing helped the pain. My husband decided to put some meat on the grill at about 4:30pm. I told him I didn't think he would be able to finish, but he went ahead and started grilling. In the meantime, I got in the shower hoping it would help subside the painful contractions. Looking back, I'm pretty sure my water broke while I was showering because when I got out, I was in miserable pain. At 6pm, I told my husband that I HAD to go to the hospital. It took about 15-20 minutes for him to get the kids together, get the meat off the grill and get me in the car. On the way to the hospital, I just knew I was giving birth in the car. It was so hard for me not to scream and upset the kids, while having the urge to push. When we finally got to the hospital at a little after 7pm, I was definitely feeling a strong urge to push. The receptionist asked me if I needed a pad...I said in a very strong voice.."NO, I'M PUSHING!!" She quickly finished typing in my information and wheeled me to a room at about 7:20pm. Once I got in the bed and the nurse was able to check me, I was dialated to 7-8cm! At this point, my husband is downstairs moving the car from the emergency lane and getting the kids and our bags. He left the kids in the waiting area and one of the nurses told him to hurry or he would miss the birth. I wanted an epidural soooo bad, but I could tell from the nurses faces that I was too far along...they looked at me with such pity as I said with each contraction "Lord, give me strength". And he answered my prayers because at 7:48pm, I gave birth to little Yasmin Marie. I was only in hard labor for less than 30 minutes and if I had waited any longer to leave for the hospital, I would have given birth in the parking lot. By the time my doctor came to my room, Yasmin was already there. She was 6lbs and 12oz and 20inches. She was perfect in every way. We thank God for a quick and not too difficult delivery. I also thank all you ladies for the prayers and well wishes.
