A BIT ABOUT ME!

hello everyone, thanks for looking at my page, my name is Nicola, i am 21 years old and have been married for 4 years. Aaron and i first got together when we where at school we met when i was 15, we hardly ever got to see one another. I have never got on with my dad or my sister, and my dad made it near impossible for us to be together. Aaron tried phoning my dad to see if there was any chance of us getting to see each other more and my dad told him to f**k off, we where both really upset and we knew we both loved each other. in October 2003 we had decided that we had enough, when i was on my way to college, (or so my parents thought) i went and got married to my husband. i do sometimes regret doing it the way i did, but felt i had no option. we knew we wanted to be together and knew we wanted to share our life with each other. the night that we got married, i phoned my dad, and told him that i was not coming home and that i had married Aaron. he told me to stop being stupid and get home now. i have not seen or spoken to my dad since then. my mum still talks but wont talk to Aaron. my granny and granda also talks to me and they also talk to Aaron. i have not seen my sister is about 2 years, last time i spoke to her she just slagged me off and told me that i had put on a lot of weight etc. she was just really horrible to me. Aaron's parents understood us both, they understand why we got married, they even helped plan it. This is my first time getting pregnant so the whole experience is completely new to me. i have not told my parents yet, but Aaron's parents are so happy for us and fully support us. i think i am about 12 weeks pregnant, i went to the doctor when i was about 6 weeks pregnant and got a blood test to confirm that i was pregnant, when it came back positive the doctor just gave me a number to phone to book an appointment for my scan. i still have not had my a scan or seen a midwife, my first scan is booked for the 16th January, after my scan i am ment to book an appointment with the midwife. i am a bit scared about the scan in case there is no baby inside.

i will update this gain once i have had my scan.

x

09 January 2008

i think i have been getting a head of myself, i have been looking at baby names today, i know I'm a bit early to be thinking about names considering that i have not even had my first scan yet, but i am getting a bit excited.. here are the names which i am thinking about. the ones in bold are the ones my husband likes. feel free to comment on the names

This is my baby at 12 weeks and 2 days. i cant beleve how clear it is, you can see facial features and feet and arms. it is soo amazing.

16 January 2008

i have just had my first Ultrasound today, i thought i was 13 weeks pregnant but it turns out i am only 12 weeks and 2 days. due to this change my due date has changed to the 28th July 2008. during the ultrasound, the baby kept sticking its bum up at us, and on the second picture, it is waving at us. i have the midwife appointment tomorrow at 7pm. and i have my next ultrasound booked for the 12 March 2008. x

08 March 2008

thought i better give an update. i am now wearing maternity clothes. i have felt the baby for a while now and we can now see it from the outside. it is so amazing. my husband put his head on my bump and the baby kicked his face. lol.

we have both decided on names, we will not be finding out if it is a boy or girl as they do not tell you in Scotland here is the names that we have decided on:

Boy: Paul Nicholas Chamberlain
Girl: Emily Linda Chamberlain

i will add bump pictures on next week also i will add my 20 week scan when i get it on the 12 March. x

Get you a bella band or belly sleeve. It allows you to hear your pre-pregnancy pants for a little longer. I bought two of them and love them. I wear it with jeans or dress pants for work. It can also be used to keep you maternity clothes up until you fill them out.

MelisaK - Friday, 1 Feb
If you have the money to waste you could just go the next size up...you probably won't get much wear out of them. You could do stretch waist pants and there is this new thing you can buy that you hook onto your jeans now that give you more room in the belly area. I just don't know what it is called. You will probably start growing quite quickly now so if you want to go ahead and get some maternity clothes go ahead. I just bought some last week and they are form fitting now so they don't look hidious. If you are not sure...go try some on and see what you think. Good luck.

hayleyredfern - Wednesday, 30 Jan
Hi,
I have just read your commemt about the doppler and didn't know you could buy them.
I have just gone onto mothercare website and bought one from there so that should arrive Friday, can't wait.
Congratulations on your pregnancy and isn't it really amazing when you see it when you go for the scan. xxx

Hi, Nicola. I read your post on eating, and I'm the same way.....when mealtime comes around, nothing really sounds good. A lot of times, I'll just have cheese & crackers. My husband loves to eat out on the weekends, and I find I don't get so excited by it anymore because I'm just not hungry or craving anything. Hopefully, this will pass. As long as we're taking our prenatal vitamins, we should be OK!! Hope everything is going well!

Sorry for the delay in responce, it has been hectic here :)

I love getting scans of the baby :) How cute it must have been to see your baby stick its bum up. Did you get any pictures? :)

billybump - Saturday, 19 Jan
Good decision, I would have done exactly the same thing. How you getting on anyway, you feeling OK? x x

billybump - Friday, 18 Jan
How are they going to screen you, blood test, scan or the needle test????

Angelia - Friday, 18 Jan
Nicola - Find out exactly what type of testing they are doing. My testing for Downs was a u/s where they measured the skin at the back of the neck on the baby, blood work, and a genetic profiling (just written information). None of it was invasive and therefore none of it had any risk of m/c. My testing is called Sequential Testing. It has to be completed before week 13 is over but is best to be done in week 12.They did discuss the option of an amnio, which is not ususally done before week 14. An amnio runs a risk of m/c, but it's only a .03% chance of m/c, plus it's hard to tell if those that did m/c was it because of the amnio or was it a coincidence? A Sequential screen has a high rate of false positives, an Amnio will give you a 100% determination. With you being so young, and if there is no history of mental retardation in your family, it may not be a test you want to take, especially if you have to pay for it.

mjeans - Thursday, 17 Jan
Congratulations to you...my due date is the same as yours...will you and your husband find out what you are having?
