pregnancy

I am a first time mommy, and am married to the most wonderful person I've ever met. I am terrified because i am leaving my home to move with my husband who is in the Air Force. We are moving all the way to Alaska from California. I have to leave my family but him and i are making our family so its the right thing to do..

Dec. 18th
My pregnancy so far has had its ups and downs.. In the beginning i had the implantation bleeding, we went straight to the E.R. and couldn't see a heartbeat.. the doctors figured the baby was just still so small..and the doctors had to take blood from me about every other day to check my HCG's..Finally afrter 2 weeks of anxiety we saw the heartbeat! It was so relieving and the happiest day of my life up till that point..

March 25th
At about 19.5 weeks pregnant we had our mid-pregnancy ultrasound.. he was being stubbourn and we couldnt really see the parts of the head that we needed t oo. But my wishes came true it was a little boy! My husband was soo excited!
Then the phonecall came. The technician said we needed to go to a specialist because my son's ventricles looked like they were enlarged a few millimeters over normal range. Which could mean a number of things. Then another doctor called me and said there was cysts! This was especially hard on my husband since he had recently lost his mother to cancer. But the good news, the AFP tests all came back to 1 in 10,000 so the numbers for any chromosonal disorders were so minimal that they said an amnio was definetely not recommended. So another few stressful days went by and we had to drive an hour to a specialist to find out what was going on with our little boy.. I think the hardest part of this all right now is my husband isnt with me he is already in Alaska so its been pretty lonely..

April 1st
The ultrasound showed the previous findings were not even there! They said the technician definetely measured wrong and in the cysts matter, they had read the wrong report! Go figure! The ventricles in his brain were WELL WITHIN normal limits.. But my son did have a slight difference, he had a dangling choroid. The doctor and 2 specialists said that its definetely not something to worry about because a dangling choroid with normal sized ventricles means that its just a normal variant and I will be fine. They recommended I come back in 2 weeks just to make sure that the ventricles have stayed within normal range.

April 3rd
I was hit by a car! I was walking my dog and some lady backed into me! It was horrible.. my back and hips hurt because the fall i took to the ground. She didnt even give me the right information and she just left me! So i went to the E.R. and the heartbeat was fine, and an ultrasound showed my lil guy was holding on just fine there was no problems or abnormal leakage but they did hook me up to a machine to make sure i was not having any contractions..

April 11th
On the way to the ultrasound i was so nervous! I had stopped worrying about it so much and just trying to realize everything was happening for a reason. I came to the conclusion that I was keeping my son regardless of the findings. At first i pleaded and prayed to God telling him if my son was ok I would have a natural childbirth (lol, i said this because both my husband, his brothers, and my father was over 13lbs) but then finally I just surrended and said its not in my hands anymore. The 2 hours spent there and then the doctor came in smiling and said although his choroid is still dangling, its just a little difference with my lil man. And that his ventricles are still the same size.. I have never had a moment where I have felt joy and love like this before.

Now i am just mad that i dont feel him moving as much as i usually do. I felt him so good for a few days and then barely nothing.. But I need to stop stressing! My lil one is just stubborn..

In 6 and a half days I will be leaving my family to go be with my husband. I have grown so much since he's seen me last and I am so excited to be around him!

April 14th
So on saturday night I had to go to labor and delivery. My son still hadn't moved as much as he was before. So wen talking to the advice nurse i drank ice cold water and i didnt really feel him in an hour time period. So i went in. They hooked me up to a monitor to hear his heartbeat which sounded good and normal! That was awesome. Then they did a quick ultrasoun and right before they start i felt him move quite a bit. STUBBORN LITTLE THING! just like his daddy! Then when they started the ultrasound he was moving alot! but i didnt feel him. He was stretching his legs and bending them.. and moving his hands all around. I guess its true, even after you start feeling your kid but your not TOO far along yet there are just time your not going to feel your baby because of the position he or she may be in..
Well only 5 more days to go until im with my husband in our new house!! And we bought a little chocolate labrador puppy=] my husband had one as a kid and he swears by them as being great family dogs.. The breeder has a baby and all the dogs are wonderful and very protective over their child.. So thats good news!

April 15th
So i went to the DR's and my BP is high..
I am so scared..

At that stage that's where I felt him the most too. I think it's because they haven't moved the head down position yet. They still move around and do somersaults in there. I think it's because they have the most room in that position. I'm so happy that you're really feeling him now. Enjoy that stage, lol! Soon he'll be catching his feet in your ribs, and his head'll be pushing so hard on your bladder you'll almost pee your pants. Aaaaahhhh, I miss being pregnant....

tdotali - Monday, 26 May
My baby kicks me mostly on the right side. I don't think that this is anything to worry about. Perhaps they just have a favorite position

owensmommabear - Sunday, 25 May
How did your GD test go?? I'm more or less on my 2ww now, but i'm not feeling very positive about the whole thing, but, I guess we'll see in a few weeks. I'm really crossing my fingers, because I can't stand not getting what I want, when I want it. LOL! We'll talk to you soon!! xxx

During my my last two pregnancies my blood pressure went high and the 1st one they just watched, and last year with the second I took methyldopa from about 20 weeks to delivery. Last week i went to doc and blood pressure is starting to climb so they are watching it and will be doing 24 hour urine catches and possibly be back on methyldopa soon if it continues. i only have high blood pressure during pregnancy. Good Luck!

i passed my test fine at about 21 weeks. dont really have any info on it. my baby is measuring really big still but its probably because my family has really big babies. good luck with everything!

Thanks - I guess today was just a bad day. The low blood pressure really stressed me out. I have less than 10 weeks to go and can't wait. Do you have family up in Alaska to help you out? I also feel like this will be a HUGE baby since he loves to kick HARD.

aug-babies - Friday, 23 May
I would buy a home blood pressure reading machine, if you don't have one already. I got one from wal-mart and take my pressure almost daily. This time I am having low readings today it went down to 82/53. I got really dizzy and started seeing blurry. I had to call my husband to come home for a while to help me with my toddler. The Dr said that this is better than having it high. He told me to eat a small meal every two hours and make sure that I am staying well hydrated. This baby is moving A LOT and I feel that I won't be able to make it to the end. This will be the last baby for us since I don't make a good pregnant woman ( :

What are your BP readings? I had preeclampsia with my first preg. I delivered him at 36 weeks. My readings went up to 170/130's way too high and meds wern't heling at all.

aug-babies - Friday, 23 May
The test itself is hard (in my opinion). After fasting then drinking the gluclose drink which is double than the 1-hr drink. You really feel the sugar rush and then comes the nausea. I would recommend taking someone with you to make the time go by quicker. I got the call yesterday from my Dr office, only one of the four came back high. They said that this was fine. The same thing happened with my first pregnancy. It is worrisome but well worth it in the end. Good luck - let me know how it goes for you.

krogers07 - Friday, 23 May
My pregnancy has been easy as well. No morning sickness, no heartburn, a little tired nothing severe. Well hopefully the test will come out ok. :-) BUT...if it doesnt my girlfriend lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks after going on the diet for diabetes. I guess we could all use that lol

pregnantdebs - Thursday, 22 May
my midwife also said thats its fine even if you feel the lil one at least 10 time a day .she says it doesnt need to be 10 time an hour or 2 but aslong as you feel it 10 times a day (even tho my lil one was only moving about 3 times a day )the babys still ok

pregnantdebs - Thursday, 22 May
ye i asked my midwife and she says the heart was fine and that if the movment stay like that for over a week then i should call her to arrange monitoring
but the movements picked up again so i didnt bother calling her,its so strange that the babys do have lazy days,i does make you worry tho,my lil one still isnt moving around as much as it was but i think its just getting a lil squashed in there to move as much lol
well i hope everythings ok with you and bump and i hope its movment picks up take care xxx

krogers07 - Thursday, 22 May
I will def pray for you! I hated that test!!! What were your sugar levels? Borderline or really high? Yea I feel the same, I am ready to see him, hold him, and love all over him. How has your pregnancy went though? Have you felt alright or has that been hard to?

kelly714 - Thursday, 22 May
Dont be silly, you arent harming your baby! Dont worry too much about the glucose test, lots of ladies failed the 1 hr and did fine on the 3 hour..You sound just like me..worry,worry, worry! I worried today because my little guy was down even lower than usual! I was afraid he was gonna fall out or he was in some sort of distress! He seems fine tonight though..I have been convinced my whole pregnancy that something was wrong. At one point I convinced myself he only had one leg because of an ultrasound pic!! Its always something with me!! Try to relax and enjoy it, Im sure your little one is fine :)

Mercer - Thursday, 22 May
Hey, I know how you feel. I was kind of surprised when they called me saying that my one hour levels were elevated because I take really good care of myself. I really hope I don't have it either for a few reasons. I just don't want the extra risks for the baby and I don't want to have to constantly watch what I eat or constantly test my blood sugars either. The last ultrasound we had (which was just a couple of weeks ago), my baby girl was measuring right where she should be. So I know she's not getting too big right now or anything.... Anyway, I wish you so much luck at the 3 hour. It's pretty miserable. I hated not being able to eat or drink anything for almost 12 hours! Plus the nurse had a hard time with my veins and I had to get my blood drawn four different times! They said I probably won't get the results for a few days. I'll let you know what they say.
Anyway, here is an example of a high carb diet that they gave me to use for the 3 days before the test. They said I can add anything I want onto it as long as I followed the main example for meals. If you need any more tips just let me know...

An example of a high carbohydrate diet is as follows:
BREAKFAST:
1 cup of fruit juice
1 cup of ready to eat cereal or 1/2 cup oatmeal
2 slices of toast
2 teaspoons or margarine
1 tablespoon of jelly
1 cup of milk

LUNCH:
1 cheeseburger or other meat and/or cheese sandwich
1 regular order of french fries or potato chips
1 cup of milk
1 piece of fruit

DINNER:
3 Oz of chickecn, turkey, beef, pork or fish
1/2 cup of green beans or other veggie
1/2 cup of potatoes, rice or noodles
2 slices of bread or a dinner roll
2 teaspoons of margarine
1 cup of milk

SNACK:
10 pretzels or 6 crackers
1 cup of milk

Good luck! : )

No I didnt go to the Dr about it, I thought about it though. He is back moving around again so I guess he was just resting. I go to the Dr tomorrow so I am going to mention it to him so that he will at least know about it.

MY BABY HAS LAZY DAYS! I ASKED THE DR AT MY LAST VISIT BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED THAT SHE WASN'T MOVING AS MUCH AS I THOUGHT SHE SHOULD BE, (ACTUALLY EVERYONE ON HERE WAS TALKING ABOUT FEELING THEIR BABY ALL THE TIME AND I DIDNT). HE TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY SHE WAS JUST BEING A LAZY BABY AND THAT SOME OF THEM ARE AND TO JUST HOPE SHE STAYS LAZY AFTER SHE'S BORN!!!

owensmommabear - Wednesday, 21 May
That's awesome that you're feeling him more!!! I too got the horrible stretching. When I got farther on in my pregnancy the worst stretching I got was in my pubic bone and my groin (OUCH!!) 4 months after I had Owen I was still having that pain!! Now, when he stretched in there that was a wild feeling!! It sounds like what you described to me. Is everything with your relationship going alright? I hope so.... I've been thinking about you alot, and hoping you keep your chin up. Sorry it's been so long since i've gotten back to you. We've been building our arena, and doing alot of riding. Hope all is well.
Take care

krogers07 - Wednesday, 21 May
I am with you on the amnio. It scared me to think of something happening just so I could know. I would have felt awful if I lost him over it. Now as I get closer I have thought about doing it later so I can be prepared if there is a need to. We will see I doubt I will. We will love him no matter what I just pray he doesnt have to have it hard. About the movement I do not ever get lazy days from him. He has always been slower at night but during the day he is all over all day. Earlier on I had days were I didnt feel him as much. But each child has different personalities. Yours might just be more laid back :-) Mine is a handful already lol

MrsBandBabyB - Tuesday, 20 May
My baby does have lazy days, when i am more active I don't feel her as much as when I'm just resting around the house. I looked up information on fetal kick counts (which I believe we are suppose to start doing next week), and the info I've found said 10 movements an hour/two hours are normal, and remember that every baby has it's own pattern of sleep and wake. My baby is much more active at night.

krogers07 - Sunday, 18 May
Wow we are in this thing together till the end!! I wish his ventricles would get smaller!! His movement is fantastic. I feel him all the time now. Even when I am up and about. For my first pregnancy I felt him really early though 15 1/2 weeks. Now I cant remember did you do amnio?

Jadedpoet - Saturday, 17 May
Ahh Alaska. My best friend and her husband were stationed there for a while. When me and my hubby got married we went to Biloxi, MS for nearly a year. Then he had to cross train and went to TX so I went to have the baby and wait until he's finished. Should be going to Little Rock sometime this year after initial training, I'm hoping they let me and baby go with him. After all of his training we are projected for Japan early next year. ^_^ I am so freaking excited haha. We always wanted to go and I joined the AF in '00 just to go, but after my time was up I was to stressed out to reenlist. :-(

krogers07 - Saturday, 17 May
Yes there is always something. lol So you are due around when I am?? August 10th? So what are his ventricles measuring at now? Did you do amnio also?
