Hi Everyone! My name is Nicole and that is my husband Chris. We've lived in New Jersey our whole lives. We have been together since October 3, 2004 and are excited to say we are expecting our FIRST baby, a little girl whose name is going to be Aviana Lucia. She is expected to arrive anytime between September 9 and September 12. We are very, very excited and cannot wait to meet her. Being able to carry a child is a blessing and we are hoping that we will do well as first time parents. Our experience so far has had a few bumps but it is all worth is seeing Aviana moving on the ultrasound screen and feeling her kick for the first time. I would not trade it for the world. We will never forget seeing her at 11 weeks and 4 days moving all around. It was the most amazing thing. We are blessed to be having a healthy baby. JUNE 6, 2007: Well not so good news with the 3 hour glucose test. I have gestational diabetes. I am really nervous and do not know what to expect. Tomorrow I will be getting a call with instructions for my new diet and to pick up my glucometer to test my blood sugar daily. I thought I was doing so good... I have only gained 6 lbs. for far which my Dr. is happy about. I have been eating healthy (with occasional cheats here and there...) but he said that with pregnancy and all the changes in your hormones sometimes no matter what you do you get it. So I am going to do this for our little girl and eat exactly what and when he says. If it cant be controlled with a diet he will have to put me on medication. I am scared of needles so I am hoping that the pill will be an option also. So far this pregnancy has been pretty difficult... first I had high blood pressure, which is now under control thanks to Aldomet 3 times a day and now I have GD. It is so stressful and I feel like no matter what I do I have no control over what is happening to my body. I also feel guilty, like I am hurting my baby. I know I cant control what is happening and that some things are just inevitable but I cant help but feeling guilty. If anyone else has GD and has any advice or just wants to talk, send me a message! Anyway, hope everyone is feeling well and is staying healthy. Wish me luck :(.

JUNE 10, 2007: Had an appt. with my Dr. today. Blood pressure has been really good lately, last time it was 134/84. Today was even better! It was 122/80!!! I am really proud of myself. I also LOST 3.5 lbs... making my total weight gain only 2.5 lbs. which my Dr. said is great for me. I told him my blood sugar readings and he thought they were excellent. He said he is concerned about fasting and 2 hrs after a meal... Fasting should be under 105 and 2 hours after a meal should be under 130. So I am good right now :) even after even french fries yesterday I was still good! I feel like I have some hope now. Also had a quick ultrasound, our little girls heart beat is strong. She is getting so big!! She is measuring a week bigger although he wont change my due date >:|. So tomorrow I go to the diabetes center at the hospital to get my diet and my glucose meter... but I think I pretty much have myself under control. I wont be stubborn though, I will hear what she has to say! Then for the next week I have to write everything down and call Dr. Giovine with the results. ALl in all, pretty good day. Decided not to go out on disability. We will have lots of bills since we are moving in 2 weeks. Gotta save for our little girl. As always, hope everyone is doing well!
