Hey!

I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby.

I found out only in the 4th week and each and every day after that has been a series of really high highs and down in the dumps lows...

At my 1st USG at 11wks my doc said I was likely to have a miscarriage. The very next day we changed doctors...

And this new doc is incidentally the same person who delivered me!!! So my baby's gonna have an interesting legacy of sorts considering my mom too was born at the very same clinic!!

Yesterday had my 2nd USG and it was incredibly beautiful...My li'l creature's growing incredibly. We saw the developing spine and ribs, the elbows and I could actually see the pint sized heart pumping hard inside of me!!! Jeez,I held on hard to those tears =) =)

Unfortunately, sex determination tests are illegal so they don't reveal the baby's gender. But that's a non-issue considering I have a super strong intuition it's gonna be a boy...Though all of us at home really want a girl...But nothing matters as long as it's a healthy baby!!

27/02: Yesterday had my 4th USG and I felt sooo cheated...We just about saw the baby head and heart and some "joints" (that we could barely figure out...It was terrible especially since the 6th month USG was mindblowing where we were explained everything in detail and it went on for about 30 minutes. I even got a CD!! This time I took a whole jing-bang comprising my mom, my younger sister, my mum-in-law and it was all done in less than 3 minutes. The excuse was the long queue of patients waiting!! I'm so gonna go get a color doppler done on my own...Can't imagine how the li'l one will feel watching himself/herself (when s/he's all grown up!!)

What's important is that the baby's growing just the way it's supposed to and is a mighty hard kicker..Looks like I'm gonna have one hell of a snooty baby 'cuz the moment somebody else touches my belly to feel the kicks, all the party inside comes to a complete standstill and there's no further movement till the hands are lifted!! n I'm already thinking of ways to get my baby to be a social animal!!

Today spent an hour at the mall checking out Mothercare and other mommy-baby stores. Traditionally, I ain't allowed to shop till the baby's born so I had to feel content just looking at the stuff and making my lists for my parents,in-laws and husband...(Doubt if I'll be able to be a part of the initial baby shopping binges) =( =(

15/03/08 - Have had an eventful 29th week. Last Friday ate some bad fish and had no idea it could affect my ever-so-smooth pregnancy to such a great deal. That evening, had my worst coughing fit ever. Guess I coughed for over 30 mins non-stop. And it was all dry cough, tears streaming through my eyes, clutching on to my belly-chest-back-head at the same time...That cough gave me such a terrible migraine, it's been there for a week now.

The next day, the coughing stopped but the fever started. My temperature soared and I had these bad chills.Along with the illness came loads of meds and a loss of appetite. 2 days of burning fever later, just as I thought my worries were over, the rashes appeared like out of nowhere...

My body was all swollen and there was no visible skin. Only pink spots; on my arms, thighs, belly, chest, back, face, neck. Even my ears and lips weren't spared!!And all the doctors and family were convinced it's measles. Something that could be fatal for my baby...Thank God, the tests were negative and a couple of anti-allergy pills later, the rash has now almost gone. Though there's an occasional itch.

During my illness-weakness, suddenly it struck me that my baby wasn't as active and wasn't kicking like it normally did. This called for an emergency USG.Luckily, my baby was growing just right and my infections had no chance of getting even close to the little one...But my amniotic fluid was considerably low. It was scary since the level had been perfectly normal throughout pregnancy and suddenly in week 29, the doc said it was dipping.

This was no good news and at that moment, I was advised complete bed-rest that meant stopping all activities and sundry. I'm a prof and a student and a freelancer, so in that one instant, all my schedules had to be scratched to zilch...Not a big deal at all, considering baby comes first...and nothing right now, nothing and nobody is more important.

20/03 Had a relapse of the same allergy. Figures,I've developed nottoo kind feelings towards fish and the like...Or manybe, mybaby ain't too fond of the flavour! This time I was with my mom and she's the kinda paranoid sort so she had me admitted to the hospital for observation! Luckily, my obs knew abt the allergy this time so there was no time wasted in giving mr the required anti-allergy shot.

Tomorrow myhusband will come over to spend the weekend with us! Yeay..Infact, he was here all day today as well but went back home at night for a bacheloresque night on the town!!

The not-so-nice part abt my pregnancy is the way I'velost all my sleep. It's 415am and I'm up and fresh as a daisy. Allnightandeveryhour have been hitting the bathroom with a vengeance..Can't wait for my routinesyo go back to normal now...

Start my 8th month on the 21st.It's surprising I haven't been feeling the weight of my pregnancy and I don't just want my baby to come out.I ain't scared of the labour...oh not a bit..Just afraid I'll lose the unique connection I share with my baby in the womb...It really is the most beautiful feeling and we had better be bloody proud of ourselves for being women to experience and enjoy it!! =)

Happy Holi and Happy Easter to all u hot mommaz!

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

07/05 Today's been a hard day for me... I've gotten this killer of a backache that just refuses to go with any amount of changing positions..I wasn't even able to exercise 'cuz my tummy started hardening n I got this awful cramping. Guess, I'm starting to lose it now...I've been a calm and tranquil person all throughout the pregnancy and suddenly this week I've been kicking up major fights with all and sundry..husband, mom, dad..It was my parents anniv y'day and I dint even wish them...n the worst thing is I don't even feel guilty...Isn't that the meanest thing???

08/05 UPDATE- I dropped sometime last evening and the feeling in my upper abdomen is sooo good..I can actually breathe while in my bra n the heartburn's going away...The drop was so quick that I barely realised it...Yeayy! My li'l baby's getting ready to meet mommie..Had my last (hopefully) USG on tuesday and doc said my baby was tiny...That scared me a bit 'cuz it had always been healthy till my 8th month. It's head and abdominal perimeter measurements aren't in sync with the dates tho' there's nothing to worry about...It's ok if the head is tiny as long as the brain isn't! lol...Can't wait to meet it now...And speaking of Sunsigns, I'd prefer a Gemini any day over a Taurean...My younger sister's a Taurean and we started getting along only after I got married (4 yrs ago)..So Gemini's the way to go...

12/05 U really must know what happened y'day...I woke up in the morning with this terrible cramping...Contractions were coming fast but weren't too painful...I hadn't leaked nor was there any "show". Just to be careful, I called my doc and she asked me to come over immediately for a check-up...As soon as I reached the hosp, she did an internal exam n I was just 1 cm dilated...(that was the worst examination ever!!) She hurt me soo hard that the nurses were holding my hands by my side so I don't get up to maybe beat her!!! lol
Anyway, she asked me to get admitted and that she'd keep me till evening in case I started contracting. It was soo boring...My mom, MIL, husband all sitting there waiting for me to go into labour but my naughty baby, just playing around inside, moving like crazy...Showing no signs of coming out =(
In the evening she did another intl exam..My cervix had opened up a li'l more and she said I could go into labour that night or maybe the following morning...So I had to stay at the hospital...And then my mom stayed back with me and everyone was all excited...But I had this feeling (a very strong one) that nothing was gonna happen...And nothing did...It's noon now and I got back home an hour ago. Doc did a sonography and said that baby is still high and needs to descend even more...
Now I've decided, the next time, till the water doesn't burst or till I dont get a show, I'm not telling anything to anyone. PPl in my family start to panic sooo much that it's difficult for a pregnant me to calm everyone down!!!

My doc asked me to STOP exercising..Isn't that the maddest thing? I don't work in the house and exercise is the only movement my body has and needs...and she absolutely hates it when I tell her I read up stuff on the internet...cuz that makes me smarter than her!!! lol

MommyJewels - Sunday, 30 Mar
YES, it WAS my plug. There was no question. It was HUGE a big glob of mucus with tinged brownish blood. There was no mistaking it.
Hi friend!

Well...last night was AWFUL. I would put it in with my three worst nights this pregnancy (which you know with hyperemesis has to be BAD). I was fine and then at about 10pm last night I got horribly ill. I threw up my medications...tried to take a suppository and was throwing up so hard that I couldn't keep it in!!!! YEs, it was that bad. I wanted to cry but I was too sick to do that. I threw my guts up---nothing helped. Finally, I got to sleep and woke up very nauseated but not throwing up!

I was able to go to breakfast with John and his parents:) I just could only eat toast and DID NOT need to hear the waitress comment about how I needed to eat more while pregnant!

Well..I am hanging in there though. I am really glad that I haven't been contracting and have been taking it easy!

The nursery is PAINTED! It looks great, I LOVE the color!

How are you doing? Good you got to be with your hubby!!!! I hope that you are feeling well and keeping busy in bed!

MommyJewels - Friday, 28 Mar
I am going to throw this computer out the window! It's been so hard getting on the past couple days!

I'm sorry to hear your fluids are so low. I know that bed rest sucks. I look back and wonder how I spent SO many months in bed. The best thing that I can tell you is that once it is over you will be so excited with your freedom. I have a very short memory. I have forgotten a lot how horrible things were for me. I am doing much better and am able to get out and even work a little bit. You hang in there...this will all be worth and and soon we will be running around chasing our little ones:)

If you need some sites to keep you sane let me know...I read every story on http://www.birthstories.com

Have a good weekend

pregodee - Friday, 28 Mar
I hear u on the claustophobia. I think it's because it is just generally hard to breath so it's a,little bit of a panic eh? Oh well. It's not our body anymore! at least not for the next 9 weeks! Good luck!

posie - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Those rock hard bellies a couple times a day are Braxton Hicks contractions. So yes you are having them. They're basically just practice for the real thing! They usually don't hurt or anything, just rock hard belly for a minute. Sometimes they do hurt when the baby is in a wierd position. I had a painfulish one last night, but most I don't even notice! Congrats on baby!!

MommyJewels - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Hey you!

So what did they say about your fluids? What are they going to do? Are you hanging in there?

I know...I am really not happy about the boob thing haha. I already had HUGE boobs to start with and I hate the attention...now you can see them a mile away. They have taken over my body and the world. It's just hard to find things that will fit. Can you imagine when our milk comes in? Oh boy!

Sindy - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Hi on your question that rock hard belly is a bracston hicks contraction a real one would be in your lower back as well and will be painfull and will only get worse

MommyJewels - Saturday, 22 Mar
OH my gosh! I can't believe that she said that to you. I think out of all the comments that people make that are RUDE that was the worst. I would call that office manager if I were you. That was incredible insensitive and awful to say to someone. ESPECIALLY wiht everything you have been through:(

I do understand what you are saying. Just because they are so protected in our bellies. We know where they are every minute of the day and no one can harm them. But...I am VERY ready lol. Spending 95% of this pregnancy in bed has made this pregnancy and this year seem INSANELY long. I am ready to be able to hold my little man, ready to know that I will not be sick once he is born and ready to be able to move freeley without getting sick:)

How are you feeling???

MommyJewels - Saturday, 22 Mar
Who asked you if you have had an abortion!?!?!?!?!?? OMG that is so awful. What did you say?

pinkb00h - Wednesday, 19 Mar
Hey! We got almost everything we needed, which was a huge relief. Now we just have to get a few odds and ends. I was so lucky with how spoiled we were! And yay for you getting baby stuff!! At least now you'll have some of what you need, if not all!

samxdean - Sunday, 16 Mar
hi thanx for your message they didnt find out what it was but was proberly down to the stress of moving. also another big thing i think is i have been finding it hard to eat and if i dont have sugary things or a can of coke i just run out of steam.
the doctors gave me co codamol? which say you cant take when pregnant but are the only pills which stop the attacks but i only take them if i get really bad!
hows your pregnancy so far have you got to the stage where you really want the baby out now not just cause of the niggles and lack of sleep but to seee the baby! then again when the babys born we will be wishing were pregnant again x

MommyJewels - Tuesday, 11 Mar
HANG IN THERE!! Most of my pregnancy I was too sick to get out of bed. Then went I went on bed rest I just made the most of it. It's not easy at ALL. But, it is worth it...just know that you are doing this for your baby. Everyday they are in your belly is another day to make them more healthy. I kept myself busy reading and playing online. If I got down in the dumps and cried I pulled myself out of it quickly. You want to make sure you are too busy being happy to have time to be sad. Somedays are tough, but you just have to alter your life and adjust. Get some great books, crafts, watch movies...take it easy. I'm sorry you are having such a rought time.

pinkb00h - Monday, 10 Mar
Lol. I just don't want everybody groping my belly!! I'd rather NOT be touched! ahah. So then you can't get like.. a crib and all the stuff you NEED before your baby gets here? Or can you, but you just can't buy it? Ew.. shrip.. *gag* lol. Are you allergic to it?!? I hope it goes away! It's 3:30 pm here, and we're getting ready to go out and eat :D I'M STARVED!

pinkb00h - Monday, 10 Mar
We're moving the 2nd week of April at the latest :D I'M SO EXCITED!! You don't get gifts for your shower? How come you have one then? When do you get the stuff you NEED for the baby?? My best friend is throwing my shower for me. There's gonna be my family, friends, and church family there. It's gonna be HUGE. I'm scared lol

pinkb00h - Monday, 10 Mar
I'm sorry you were so sick!! I got real sick a few weeks ago, and ended up with the flu. But I'm glad you're feeling a little better already! Being sick while pregnant, I think, makes it so much worse. I have been doing alright. Just really impatient, but super excited about my baby shower this coming sunday :) I also got a long awaited call this morning from a woman at an apartment we had been put on a waiting list for. Waiting for her to call me back a third time. She set up an appt for us to go in and see her, but then she found out that even though my husband is a full time student, and he works, I'm only a part time student at the moment, and the corporate office was having some problems with it. That and the fact that my baby isn't actually here yet. So she called and talked to them, then called back and asked us if we had ever lived by ourselves (answer is no) and if either of our parents had claimed us on this years taxes (again the answer is no) and she got excited about that and said she'd call back. So now I'm just impatiently waiting for her to call again! I'm praying so hard that everything will go through ok, and we can move out. It's crappy living with my mother!! I NEED MY OWN PLACE!! lol. How's your bebe doing??

MommyJewels - Saturday, 8 Mar
I'm sorry to hear that you have had a hard time with your pregnancy as well:( Hang in there. I'm here if you ever need to vent.

pinkb00h - Monday, 3 Mar
It's so cute! You're definitely thinner in your belly than I am. I just look like a big blob now. Your's is all.. round :) Looks like a boy to me.. lol!

pinkb00h - Monday, 3 Mar
Haha! I thought I heard our appetite was supposed to DECREASE in the 3rd trimester! Whether or not it's food or sweets! Ahhh! My next appt is this coming friday... I'm terrified to get up on that scale. It's gonna tell me I've gained 10 lbs in a month!! I've already gained I think 17 lbs so far. The dietician I seen at the beginning told me for my weight and height, 25 lbs would be perfect to gain. That's only 8 lbs to go!! I'm in so much trouble! My boobs and belly aren't the only growing on me, either. I think my butt is about as big as my belly!! Luckily, I was born with Native American Indian in me, so I've still got a sleek face with high cheekbones.. But it's not helping with the rest of my body! I'm just.. thick. Bleh!

pinkb00h - Friday, 29 Feb
Oh wow. That's horrible! (Aborting the baby just cuz she's a girl). I had no idea India did that. But then, I don't know much about any other countries, either. Just shows my ignorance I guess :P Lol. It's not like China is it, where they're like.. only allowed to have boys? Well no, I guess not, if you're not allowed to find out the sex of the baby. It'd still drive me crazy not knowing. I've had a few people, before I found out we were having a girl, tell me NOT to find out, it's more surprising. I was like 'no! How can you NOT buy pink or blue? And what about the baby shower?!' Lol. But I guess that's what you're having to do! Just buy some pink stuff, and then buy some blue stuff, and whatever you don't need, take back! If you can do that. That way you'll have stuff for whatever you have :)

pinkb00h - Wednesday, 27 Feb
Lol not a problem! I think I would go crazy if I wasn't allowed to find out what I'm having. How come it's against the law where you are? Or is it your culture/religion that stops you? Sorry if those questions offend. Just curious :) And no, I didn't really crave anything before I knew I was having a girl. I just had this gut feeling that it was a girl :) Now that I do know she's a girl though, it seems all I want to eat is sugar sugar SUGARRRRRRRRR! ahaha. It's definitely not helping with keeping me at a normal weight gain (so far it is, but if I continue like this.. watch out scale!). And you can sometimes tell what somebody is having by the way they carry. If your belly looks more like a football from the front (you're belly is big from top to botton, but not the same size all over) then I think it's a girl. And if you look like you've swallowed a basketball (you've got a really round belly, and it's further down, not much weight up towards your boobs) then it's a boy. Lol. My dad is really good at telling it that way. Every person he's predicted, he's been right! Peeish.. LOL! I really haven't had problems with my bladder yet. I just wake up having to pee like a horse, but that's about it. I'm sure as I get further along, she'll try and get comfy on my bladder and then I'll be so peeish too.. ahah!

pinkb00h - Monday, 25 Feb
Lol thanks! I tried to get my husband to take a picture of me and my belly. He did, but it looked HORRIBLE. So I just continue taking my own pictures ;P And thanks for the compliment on my blog. I honestly spend WAY too much time on here lol. But it's something I like doing, and it helps pass the time. So hey, why not ;o)

pinkb00h - Friday, 22 Feb
I feel different body parts from my baby girl, as well. It's normal :) As they get bigger, they don't have a whole lot of room to move around, so instead of kicking, they'll push a body part up against your belly, and you're able to feel it! :) I like trying to grab onto whatever it is I feel, and try to figure out what it is ;o) I can't wait til I actually have her here and can just grab onto whatever I want and kiss it ;P

hoping4baby2 - Thursday, 21 Feb
I have the constipation too even when my diet is fiber rich also. The same with my last pregnancy. If it gets really bad I stop my prenatal vitamins for a day or so because all that iron helps to constipate you. But, most of it is natural, I believe also. I do feel baby parts jutting out of my belly and sticking out. Last night, a head was sticking way out and it's so hard... very normal. Feels weird though. For my birth plan I will just make it clear that I want to be notified when the window of opportunity is to have an epidural so I can make that decision at that point. I had one with my first baby and it went good. Good luck to you!

leo8473mmm - Thursday, 21 Feb
hi! well, i am right there with you on the fatigue, breathlessness, and constipation. never ever dealt with that third one before! always right as rain! at least it isn't painful, just annoying! i have had the hardening of my tummy happen a few times. it is so fascinating! as for birth plan...i do want to look into it. i am a bit freaked out by the thoughts of birth at the moment. i need to learn more! my hubby and i will start childbirth classes on march 3rd. we are looking forward to them! hope you are well today! xox,m.

luvmy-buninoven - Thursday, 21 Feb
Hi Congrats! The same thing happened to me, I laid down at my dr appt, and on the left side my stomache stuck out and was hard and round. Doc said it was his head! How cool huh?
