Hey there! My husband and I are excited that we're pregnant for the 2nd time. We have a very busy 2 1/2yr old boy and felt it was the right time to try for #2 !! So far the pregnancy has been going well. Some days I forget I'm pregnant...other days I can't forget! (pelvic muscle pain, tiredness etc.) but so far so good. We're hoping for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby!!

babies

Update! Jan 27/08

- Just had our 12 week ultrasound on Friday, heartbeat was 157beats/min. Got to take home a disk with pics of the little one...very exciting! So far feeling really good, still tired. No more nausea when I get hungry later at night... Still gaining weight like crazy!! (no surprise there...) 13lbs in the first trimester. BUT I have a plan this time...15lbs/trimester MAX. Going to keep the weight gain under control this time! Last baby I gained 67lbs...and it took 2 years to lose just shy of 80lbs (wanted to go a bit lower than my normal weight before I got pregnant again) Lord can I eat!!! I seriously need to use moderation...everyday!

12 week Ultrasound

March 7/08 Week 17

Baby moves!!...Has been since week 15, much sooner then with my first pregnancy. Feeling good, still tired and hungry...but definately not like during the first trimester. Trying to stay active to minimize the massive weight gain!! I've gained a good 20lbs already (oooh bad I know!), But have set a limit and am still within my own 'boundaries' for gain with this pregnancy.

We're looking forward to our next u/s on the 20th! Soo excited to find out what were having (even more than I was with our first baby). We're rooting for a girl, but either is fine by us. Our little guy is sooo busy, and the thought of 2 little boys running wild around the house is a little bit scary! I'm also dying to start shopping for baby...I LOVE to shop. I want to know if I need to hang on to all my little boy clothes or if I should start shopping for PINK like it's going out of style! I've already got a boy and girl nursery theme/style picked out and am ready to start decorating!!! A little premature? YES! But I'm excited!

March 22/08 Week 19

It's a boy!!! No girls for us...we'll have 2 busy boys on our hands!! Had our 19 week ultrasound. The radiologist said the babies Nuchal fold (skin at the back of the neck) was slightly thicker than average. This can be a 'marker' for downsyndrome. Needless to say, Harry and I were quite upset about this. Saw my doctor yesterday and she said that the slightly thicker than average nuchal fold was nothing to be concerned about. The u/s showed no other markers (ie, shortened longbones, echogenic fochi etc). Also the baby was very active, his hands were open not clinched, (clinched hands are apparently a trait in babies with chromosomal abnormalities). She feels the odds of downs are incredibly low due to my age, and no others markers being found. But I requested a more detailed prenatal diagnostic u/s that I'll have at the beginning of April. We feel relieved that the dr. thinks things will be totally fine, but are still a bit anxious.

April 8/08 Week 21

Feeling good this week. A bit over emotional but thats nothing new! Met with a genetic counsellor last week (the maternal fetal medicine radiology clinic said that another u/s wasn't necessary). The counsellor pretty much went over what we had already discussed with my doctor. Apparently my odds of the baby having Downs is around 2%. Higher than I'd like, but still there is a 98% chance the baby is 'fine'. It still weighs on my mind all the time and I'm praying that the baby will be healthy. Time will tell. I 've ordered our furniture for the nursery, we're going for a white and blue 'under the sea' theme. Nothing too kitchy, but I did find some really cute bedding. The furniture could take upwards of 14 weeks to arrive...needless to say it's coming on a slow boat FROM China! Hard to be patient when I want to start setting up the room NOW!

May 6/08 Week 26

Babies moving all the time, especially busy in the evenings when I'm trying to relax. I'm feeling pretty good, more energy than in the past. Hubby is in Europe for 3 weeks, so it's me and the 2 year old...I'm also working full-time while he's away. WHEW! I forgot how tiring working full-time can be while pregnant (usually I work 3 days a week only). I've got to go for my glucose level test as well as book a time for a 3D ultrasound. Super excited to see what this little guy is gonna look like! The nursery is coming together...my crib, glider and change table have arrived, just waiting on the dresser to come in. We're going to paint the room as soon as hubby returns from overseas. Can't wait!!

July 7/08 Week 34

Finally completely done the nursery. So happy with how it turned out! (take a look at the nursery pics...) Feeling good still, but not sleeping as well. I need a pillow for my legs and my tummy...getting rounder by the minute it seems! Really getting excited about the baby coming soon...he's still pretty active and kicking all the time. Had a 30 week ultrasound and they said he was breech...really hoping he turns soon!!! Heartburn and grouchiness are my worst 'symptoms' right now.. some days I'm in such a bad mood. Hormones are CRAZY! The countdown is on...praying these last few weeks are manageable!!!

TEXBABY - Thursday, 20 Mar
Thank you! Did you find out what you are having yet? We met the Doctor that is going to be delivering the baby yesterday, she seems really nice.

Ahhhh, the heart burn...I have fond memories of that! It is crazy though at the time all of the discomforts of pregnancy are insane and then when baby is here, you almost forget what it was like being pregnant! Hmmmm, sleep deprivation perhaps??? Touch wood, I am feeling really good. The two night previous to last night were rough, but I've been averaging about 5.5 hrs a night and then usually we take a little afternoon siesta. It's going well. Hormones haven't gone too far off the deep end but to get an unbiased view I'd have to ask DH and I KNOW what he would say LMAO! I do start crying my eyes out when I hear sappy songs though!!! Family is driving me a bit crazy....everyone wants a piece of the baby!!!
My memory is shot...I can't remember what else was in your last note! Have to go back and see what I missed!

This motherhood thing is amazing...although difficult to get anything done! My nips are so sore they feel like they are going to fall off, but he is feeding well and my milk is going strong, so keep your fingers crossed for me!Yep have quite a few girlfriends with ids that stay at home....all different ranges in ages. I haven't started hanging with them yet. First 5 days was home invasion from the families so I am chilling for three days with no/limited visitors. Took babe into work yesterday...fricking downtown is NOT stroler friendly...especilly trying to go througb the Westin b/c it was freezing outside. Have to go through Shell instead. I am petrified about using the escalator...Alot of suits were super helpful yesterday but other...other almost ran me over or got really close tot eh stroller. I will flippin lose it if some dink in an Armani suit on his cell phone bumps my baby.
How are you feeling?

Would you want a girl this time?

TEXBABY - Thursday, 6 Mar
I can't wait to go shopping! We are hoping for a boy, but healthy is most important. I would love to do that 3D Ultrasound, can you just call and book an appointment with them or do you have to get your doctor to refer you? Did you have one done with your son?

model2mommy - Thursday, 6 Mar

Hello all...had my beautiful baby Jackson (JJ) Lawrence at 3:04 a.m. on March 5, 4 days overdue. Have not really slept yet, but am so in love. Did labour WITHOUT and drugs (Sterling would be so proud of me) and I can honestly say while it was challenging and difficult at the time, I am so glad I did it that way. I did acupunture the day before and had my membranes swept the day of labour starting. It seemed to work. I am so in love...will update you all later!!!! xoxo Karyn

Yes, planning our wedding will be a lot of work! We want to renovate the house this Spring before baby comes, my fiance's house is a bachelor pad right now!
I have had a pretty good pregnancy, no weight loss in the beginning a bit of nausea. I am tired and some muscle pains in my back and pelvic and I love banana right now. This is my first so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I think over all it's been a pretty great pregnancy! I find out the sex on March 12th. Do you know what you are having yet?

TEXBABY - Wednesday, 5 Mar
Oh...we do plan on getting married, we planned to get married before baby, but I guess the baby didn't see it that way! We are hoping to get married next summer.

TEXBABY - Wednesday, 5 Mar
I will have to try your pub some time. I used to work in that area at Woodridge Ford doing accounting there.
HAHA! My finace's name is really Rob, but noone knows him as that so I just got used to calling him Tex around his friends and Robbie around his mom.

marias1stbaby - Wednesday, 5 Mar
Thanks for the compliment on my babies nursery, I am happy on how it turned out. Congrats on baby :)

TEXBABY - Wednesday, 5 Mar
That will be great to have your parents here. My mom lives in Crossfield (about 45min away) so it's hard to get out to see her and my dad lives in Australia, but Tex's family is a big help and so is my sister.
What pub do you guys own?

butterblocksmom - Tuesday, 4 Mar
HEY! How are you? Ah, the glorious 2nd trimester...Feeling good? Well, sleep still eludes me. I went for acupuncture today at 3:30. Went to bed at 9 and was up at 11:30 with the most wicked cramps ever. It's calmed down since however this is torture. It just isn't coming to fruition. So many sleepless nights (well, 4 hours isn't sleepless I guess)...maybe I do just need to relax and let nature take it's course. Sometimes I think this site causes more issues than it solves, know what I mean?

We are all so uncomfortable and in a rush...sigh, I just don't know! I am very philisophical on 4 hours of sleep a night!!

How are you doing today? I can't remember, do you want to find out if it is a boy or girl? I see my dr in the morning at 8:45, will ask her to do a membrane sweep and then back to acupuncture at 12. Sometimes I don't know if I am causing baby trauma or not. Were you like this with your first? Worried about everything? Ready to hold him before he was ready to come out?

TEXBABY - Tuesday, 4 Mar
Having a 2 year old while pregnant would atleast keep you in shape! I work for my finace doing the accounting for his auto body shop so I will still be working a bit but from home. Are you working? We have lots of family! My fiance is Italian Croatian so they are all very excited and already offering to babysit. How about you? You should post some pictures of your family.

No, we are no where near finished. We only bought our house in December and we have been doing repairs ever since. We are putting new hardwood throughout the house but we ran into a problem with the floor itself and we have been waiting about two weeks for the contractor to come look at it for us. Hopefully we'll get it all done before the baby arives! Good Luck with your pregnancy!! :) oxo

kitchensca - Monday, 3 Mar
Thanks!! Good Luck with your pregnancy.

TEXBABY - Friday, 29 Feb
Hello! I am delivering at Foothills Hospital as well!I live off of Country Hills Blvd in the NW. I am happy to be 4 months now, most of the worry is gone and so is the nausea. This is my first baby and we are so excited. I looked after my 2 year old nephew the other evening and that was hard, I can't imagine doing it every day, I totally respect you for that!

TEXBABY - Thursday, 28 Feb
I just wanted to say hello and congrats to my fellow Calgarian with the same due date!

barbi - Thursday, 28 Feb
At our 20 week scan they found a CPC and also a two vessel cord. I had never heard of either so researched them on the internet and found all kinds of horrible things. The docs assured me that my baby will most likely be fine but I find little comfort in that. Anyway, I definitely am showing but most people say 'you're so small' when they find out how far along I am. It's probably just because I'm thin otherwise.
