My Birth Story

Hello, well Thomas George David Raynor finally arrived on Friday 25th July @ 09:33am.
He weighed 7Lbs 11oz, and he is the most gorgeous little boy that I have ever seen.

On Thursday 24th July I had some BH which were slightly painful, I took no notice of them but they got more and more painful. At around 02:30 am on the Friday I told my partner that I was having pain, he said that he would take me to the hospital, but I refused saying that I wasn't sure and that I wanted a cup of tea first then see how I felt. But then I had another contraction and then realized that they were too painful to just be BH's.
I phone the hospital and they told me to come in and remember to bring my maternity notes. We got Molly dressed and took her to her grandmothers. We got to the hospital at around 3:30am. The midwife took me into the delivery suite and asked for my notes, I then realized that I had left them at home so David had to go home to get them. They then examined me and told me that I was 6cm dilated. I demanded an epidural, so the nurse got the doctor to come and put one in. At 7:30am the nurses swaps shifts. The new nurse examined me again and told me that I was fully dilated, she also told me that she could feel an ear and what felt like some fingers. She got a doctor to double check. He agreed that the baby was trying to come down ear first! He was able to turn him into the right position but he wanted me to start pushing the baby out while he guided the head, because he was worried that the baby might try and turn again. The decided to use suction, but as he did it slipped off the babys head, so he decided to use forceps but he needed to cut me. Anyway when Thomas finally came out the doc needed to sew me up. As he was sewing I kept bleeding and with every stitch I bled more. He then noticed that there was a big blood vessel and that is why I bled so much. He managed to stop the bleeding and was able to sew me up. I had to stay in hospital overnight. But Thomas is most definitely worth all the pain and I love him so much, even if I have no vagina left, just what looks like road kill between my legs!!!!
Apart from being extremely sore and tender I am feeling good and I will post some more pictures and keep you all up dated soon. I LOVE MY LITTLE BOY

Also, I read your comment about your first birth experience, and I can see why you want it just to be the father in the room... I have a sister in law who comments on how she saw her stepmom give birth and how 'gross and messy' it was and how ugly newborn babies are, etc. whenever my pregnancy is brought up in her presence at family gatherings (who says that in front of a pregnant woman?!)... Last week I came to find out that her stepmom had been screaming at her to get out during the birth... and she refused!! I do not want any chance that she will even be near the hospital at my baby's birth!! Who knows what she would say about it afterwards. lol. My mom and mother in law can be at the hospital, and maybe in the room during the labour, just not during the birth...

Hey, there is definitely just one in there, but I found out at my 18 week ultrasound that my uterus goes up way past my belly button.. it's huge! So, I think that is why I show so much.. the baby has tonnes of space to move around anyway. That's exciting that you are looking obviously pregnant now! Congrats and enjoy the baby bump!

Thank you for your input about who will be in the room.. what made you decide that it should be just your boyfriend this time? Did you find it stressful to have others in the room?

winnowillr - Saturday, 15 Mar
Thank you very much for your kind words and support! It hasn't been easy, but I know I'm making the right decision for this child, myself, and my family. I know I am going to make the adoptive parents feel complete, too, as they have longed for a child in their arms.
Congrats on your pregnancy, and good luck! I will pray for joy, love, and happiness in all you do!

Thanks... I know I shouldn't worry. It really could be that I feel like I haven't been to the doc in so long that I'm looking for any twinge of a reason to go. He is almost not cautious enough though, always telling me my pregnancy is going 'perfect' I'm sure he's used to worried pregnant ladies LOL:) I don't mind which gender we have - although I have more of an idea on girls names than boys! If I have a boy, I will be happy because I want him to be the 'overprotective big brother' type to any girls I have later on. If I have a girl, I will be thrilled too because I will enjoy watching her wrap her little self around daddy's finger and have him ready to hand her the car keys at a moments glance:) I just want a healthy baby at this point. :) That's all we can hope for, any of us, really. I like the name you picked our for your boy! congrats and good luck w/ the heartburn and constipation. I got it too!

blessedmom2b - Thursday, 13 Mar
Thanks so much for you response. Yeah, I think I've decided to put a call into my doctor today and see what they think. I've heard of a girl dialated 2 cm as early as week 22! It's just scary and I don't want to be dialating and not know it. It could be just pressure down there or something. I don't really know what dialating feels like but I'm just not used to feeling the vaginal walls when I haven't even been intimate. That is a little overshare (sorry) but that's how I feel. Hopefully everything will be perfectly healthy. congrats on your pregnancy!:)

dawniek - Wednesday, 12 Mar
Oww thanks for your good luck wishies hun. I will let you know how it goes.
You know what they say about heartburn [old wifes tale] Your baby will be born with a beautiful head of hair. Hope your not suffering too much with it. I've not had any heartburn. Maybe i will give birth to a bald baby he,he!
Can't belive only 19 weeks to go. Gona have to get my mat leave booked in,yay! Think 30 weeks is a good time. Anyway take care and chat soon sweetie. xxx

Little-Pea - Wednesday, 12 Mar
I heard that as well. It would b right with me as I used to be a deep sleeper, so I guess the early practise will do me good. How's Molly's toileting going? xxx

newmom2b2008 - Monday, 10 Mar
hey.. well crown to rump means head to tushie.. as they are curled up and you cant measure the real length with feet but from head to tush she should have been abe to tell u..mine was 16 cm which is .3 inches which is like on the 100th percentil.. meanng a tall baby so far but on the tallest end.. i then looked THAT up online and when they measure 6.3 crown to rum they usually are 10.3 inches in full length head to toe..
cos they also measure the femur bone in the legs when they do the scans etc
you could try ask again and see what dimensions they CAN give you:)

1sttimemommysumerlea - Monday, 10 Mar
I like the name you have picked too..it sounds strong and solid.
Our son's middle name comes from my hubby, his granfather and father. The first name we picked from a family friends' son with the same name and we loved it. I guess it is pretty uncommon.

bobbette89 - Monday, 10 Mar
