12 WEEK SCAN

10 years since I had my daughter...I have been 'broody' for a year or so and could hear my biological clock tick. Nothing seemed to matter as much as planning for our 2nd child.

I am constantly trying to hide the fact that I am a nervous wreck, worrying if everything is ok. It must be because of my age and how much I want it this time. Children are so precious.

God could not be everywhere, and therefore He created mothers ~Jewish Proverb

kaylouise - Monday, 16 June
Hi,
Would you recommend the Baby Whisperer as something that i should read?
I still have good and bad days, i have found a couple of mum and baby things to do, tomorrow i am going to try rhyme time at the local library it is for babies 0-3 it is only 30 minsso does not need that much planning to get to. I find that if i plan my days out it is easier even if it does not allways work out. Have you found any groups round your way to go to? It is lonely as we have been used to going to work for years, are you planning on going back?
I have stopped breast feeding so much now and am giving Henry formula as a top up so not as tired now so that helps.
xx

kaylouise - Sunday, 15 June
I will get round to putting some pics on here soon.
How are you feeling now?

I have to say so far, I have not been successful on the E.A.S.Y routine. There have been several hurdles. Firstly, my daughter was feeding every 1-1.5 hours for the first 4 weeks and she feed for like an hour long even longer in the evenings. I was literally the feeding vessel for a month.
In week 2 she decided she didn’t really need to sleep during the day all that much, which makes a pretty cranky baby come the evening hours!
I have tried so many things; she won’t stay down longer than 20 mins, occasionally 30-40 mins. The only way to get her to sleep is in the sling on me. It also calms her every time if she is fussy; she can’t resist the sling! That thing was the buy of the year!

She immediately slept well at night though which is strange so we were able to establish a good night routine. Right now she sleeps from around 9-4:30-5:00 feeds and then goes back down till 7:30-8:30. She absolutely will not go down by herself and the “shush/pat” routine I think is essentially a variation of letting them cry it out. She is too little for that, so I nurse her or rock her to sleep. I know this is just going to make my life difficult in the future, but I have to do what works right now for my sanity.
There will have to be a cry it out somewhere in the future I know, but not before that 3 month mark at least. I know it will be so heartbreaking!

I think she is a “spirited” baby. I have to get this daytime sleep thing under control; she needs at least a morning and afternoon deep sleep nap! I have some success with the tummy sleeping. After reading some posts from ladies discovering their babies were tummy sleepers, I decided to try it. The first day she slept almost 2 hours, but seems to have been a fluke because she is up after about 45 mins like clockwork now. However, she is going down in the afternoon which never happens and she is not as cranky in the evening so the 45 min naps are helping. I also still put her in the sling to make dinner and such so she gets another 30-45 mins there. I am having some success today with her in her swing. She had her 45 min nap at 10:00 and now for the past ˝ hr she has been crashed in her swing which is a first. I cranked it on high and have it ˝ on the carpet and ˝ on the hard woods so it is jiggling pretty good…worked like a charm.
The things we do, haha. Take care, talk to you later!

HI! I´m stopping by just to give you an update... well we had the ultrasound on my babie´s hip on 5/26, and were told his right hip is "immature", so we had an appt last tuesday and the doctor put him on a hard plastic diaper, the frejka pillow, fulltime for 1 and 1/2 months and then 2 weeks just overnight. He didn´t say much, but as I was doing my research on the web apparently it´s just 1 degree short from being normal. We´ll see another, private, traumatoogist next thurs, to see if he can explain what the hay is goin on! wha about you?? xxox juliana

stacey-gracie - Friday, 13 June
well i'd advise to feed her an hour before you go in and try to get her to nap on the way there so if she's good at falling asleep in buggy or car then just go for it.

Dont worry too much as being somewhere new will probably keep her distracted enough. try to see if someone can baby sit for an hour so you can go shopping for swimming costumes too.

There's loads to worry about with taking a baby swimming so make sure you have EVRYTHING packed like 2 days before so if you remember something you can just add it... no rushing on the day or night before.

And most importantly DONT WORRY ABOUT A THING lol. you'll have to put her under water but dont be scared. i promise she'll be fine. if you want anymore advice etc u know where i am xxxx

have you tried mothercare? even the bigger suits still normaly fit snug on the legs... failing that even if you dont go to waterbabies you can buy a suit from their website. even for a newborn lol

kaylouise - Thursday, 5 June
I have spoken to my doctor they dont think that i have baby blues now as it has gone on for too long now but they would like to keep am eye on me, how are you feeling?
I am still a little sore from my c section but i suspect that this is normal.
Henry has also been getting up at 2 or 3 am then again at 5 or 6 am for the last few nights before that he was every 2 or 3 hours, i know what you mean about getting into a routine as i struggle to get started in the mornings.
I noticed on your profile pics that you have a cat, how is the cat getting on with Pollyanna? one of my cats has jumped into the moses basket in the last couple of days it was empty at the time.
I hope the new tablets are working.

Kay

aww it'll probably take a bit of time for her to get into a good routine

stacey-gracie - Thursday, 5 June
Grace has been sleeping through since she was 5 weeks but daytime naps are a nightmare. she fights it cause she thinks she's missing out on something so i have to feed her wrap her in a duvet give her her dummy (something i swore i'd never give her) then walk around the house rocking her and singing til she has a nap lol

crabscanfly - Thursday, 5 June
Yeah its hard, The did an internal and regular ultrasound on me and thats how they found out that something was stuck but they couldnt tell what, They kept doing the pelvic exams and so on, that does crap. evacuation is not bad, its a D&C i do believe, i hope they put you out for it unlike me and keep me awake when i found out from the doctor today that they should of nocked me out. but thats not good that you had a c section done and they may need to do that, how long are they gonna let you bleed for that can harm you, where you can hemmroage, i dont mean to scare you, but if you read up on it, it tells you, they shouldnt allow that!. sometime i think doctors are just in it for the money.

I HATE PADS.. but i would rather use them then get an infection.. I can wait just one more month! BUT I STILL HATE THE PADS!

crabscanfly - Wednesday, 4 June
I did have it, i had a D&C and i do believe all the bleeding and discharge has stopped after having my first period, they put me on birth control to try and stop it and so far after a month of useing it, its worked , You can read the msgs if you want. but i had the D&C on april 16th and i had my girl march 18th and now im 11 pp and i do believe it finally stoped. are you still bleeding, have you seen a doctor if you have? good luck, let me no :)

njdevchick - Wednesday, 4 June
I hate wasting the formula too, Ethan is hard to predict with his feeding, sometimes he only wants 3 or 4 oz, sometimes he will down 5 or 6 and even 7 the one time! As much as I hate hearing babies cry, you may if you just gave her a bottle, wait an hour or two extra instead of giving her the "snack" that way she will want more the next feeding and maybe eliminate the "snack" She may be ready for an extra ounce or two if she still feels hungry, so maybe you should up it by an ounce and see how she is?

kaylouise - Tuesday, 3 June
I have some days better than others but none are that great at the moment, I also feel a lot better at the weekend as my boyfriend is about i do think it helps to have people around me which does not happen that much in the week. Let me know what your doctor says mine has been quite good but and is trying to get me some one to talk too.

stacey-gracie - Tuesday, 3 June
they give you one of those paper swimming nappies and a "happy nappy" which is tight fitting have a look at www.waterbabies.co.uk and you'll find out more about the programme
