We had our anatomy scan and midwife appt. today and it went great!
Heart rate was 157 then got AFP results which were all normal and fine so no amnio- yay!
The
midwife commended me on staying in shape and not gaining too much. I
only have gained 3 pounds since last month. Then we went down the hall
for our ultra sound. He is definitely a boy- no doubt remains- and his
heart looked perfect she said. Got to see his adorable little feet and
teeny ribs and watched him rub his eyes and put his hands in his mouth.
I walked out of the office on a cloud.
Thank goodness for great days like this.

Just got home from our 1st trimester screening/ultra sound and it couldn't have went better!
I found out yesterday I have the antibody for Hashimoto's meaning my
hypothyroidism is a consequence of having this auto-immune thing in my
blood which attacks my thyroid. So, I will have to monitor it for life
but to me, its better than being diabetic (no syringes and just a teeny
hormone tab and occasional blood work to monitor) and am just glad to
know!
We are feeling so good right now

-
I was so sick with worry, just certain the worst would happen but
no...the heart beat was very strong (160) and the baby so adorable.
Bebe Wombat was sleeping/chilling out at first but then sat up, was
bobbing its head, switched from side to side and then stretched its
arms and began to suck its thumb.
We were dying of the cuteness.
They marked off the neck and said the neck measurements where they
determine Downs Syndrome are "perfect" and also the inner nose bone was
intact- yay- so no go on the DS. *whew*
Then the head ultrasound lady asked if we wanted to know the sex!!!
SO of course I said, "YES!"
She said she is pretty sure he is a
BOY!
And proceeded to show us where and how from different angles.
She said its a 90% sure thing so this made us excited to see Bebe Wombat as a little individual and a boy to boot.
And of course, they all thought it was sweet when we had his name all at the ready too!
We decided we are gonna be kinda hushy on the name until our 20 wk. u/s
in the 10% off-chance that he is a girl so we can "save" the boy name
for another time!
The nurse later when I said she told us he was a boy said, "If she told
you that, she is usually dead-on and doesn't even say unless she really
knows."
The midwife (Shadman- very super cool lady!) listened again to the
heartbeat and said it sounded very good/strong and I don't have to
worry about it/can tell anyone I am pregnant now b/c it all looks good
and I need not worry about miscarriage anymore!!!

I also have lost 5 pounds since last month- thanks to my thyroid
hormones- yay- getting back to looking like me...just me and all belly
at this point.
They had to retake my b/p twice b/c it was so high but I assured them
it was due to excitement of the u/s and finding out everything was
healthy, getting a no on the DS and then to find out the sex too and
see him suck his thumb put me over the top!

Anyway, wanted to share our good news.
Matt couldn't stop smiling at lunch and he also videoed the u/s so I can watch lil Wombat over and over now!
3/14/08 u/s

this is Baby's first close-up!
Our u/s from this morning at 8.5 weeks- the whitish area btw. the arms is the heart (which was beating strongly away) and head is to the left.
We were so impressed by how much it looks like a real person- could see the eyes, the arms and legs moving and the amazing heart. Just precious.
Hey, nothing here yet!
