It's pronounced Keh-KOH-uh. Marshall just wanted to keep a little of the culture in the name, I guess. I was born in Hawaii and go there about every year to visit family but my parents' origin is from the Philippines.

I made the announcements - I like making cards and we probably saved a little over 50% by making them on our own - I perused websites that sell custom announcements and they can cost a pretty penny!

About the BH's, I couldn't sleep last night because they kept coming one after another, but not close enough together or intense enough for me to feel real concerned. It could be that I just couldn't sleep and so I was awake to actually feel them.

Ha, you sound just like me as far as visitors go and also the culture thing. My parents scared the crap out of my nephew because they were loud and in his face. And they thought it was because they didn't get to see him enough. I didn't see him as often as I should have but he didn't mind being held by me. They wouldn't listen to me when I told them to ease into it, and QUIETLY offer your arms to hold him.

But in general, one of my fears is people telling me what I'm doing wrong and that I should do this or that. I'm getting that already, mind you. The weird thing is when I get advice from people who don't have kids - then I'm thinking that it's completely different when you actually have one of your own than when you're around others' kids. But no one's an expert at the beginning - they had to learn and that's what made them so good at it. And I'm the type who likes to do my research and pick and choose what I need to know, and if I need advice, I'll ask for it. My brother and our parents argue often 'cuz he puts his foot down and i have a feeling I'll have to do the same at some point.

oh yea i got a great gift....i got a fucking new tire for my car! Yippy for me. he needed to get a new one anyways so he just figure get it on mothers day and let that be my present...i guess he thought he would hit 2 birds with one stone! i didnt even get a flippin card. his brother and his brothers girlfriend got me a card and a rose. and hes all like you rather me get you a 50 cent card instead of a $80 tire im like hunny its just the thought of it, that you were thinking of me.......stupid men AHH how was your day?

Yeah, it's cool when you know someone has the same situation as you. I actually chose to switch to the practice I am at now, because the last practice I went to, who delivered my daughter (8years ago), I couldn't stand the DOC! There were 2 docs at the practice, 1 female and 1 male. The female I liked, but the male I couldn't stand. He was very impersonable, and IN AND OUT. I didn't like that at all. And of course, he was the one on call the night I gave birth to my daughter! I even hated his presence in the delivery room. ANd he NEVER asked my husband if he wanted to CUT THE CORD, and my husband is BITTER about it til this day. LOL. Even though the practice I am currently at, has many people to see, I am so grateful that they are ALL VERY NICE. The main doc is a sweetheart.....I love him too. So it's comforting to know that whoever is on call, I will be happy with.
About the hubby smothering------haha. I know, it's funny. And I don't even have a PLUGGED NOSE, so imagine! I finally gave in and we had a LOVE FEST last night and then some. I just relaxed myself and went with the flow. He went to sleep VERRRRY HAPPY :-)

That's a pretty name! We're keeping our son's name a secret until we send out birth announcements, but I guess I can tell you. It's my user name - Kekoa (it's Hawaiian, meaning "the brave one"). We'd been tossing it around since it's so unusual and don't want him to get beat up at school, but decided to keep it, especially since I'd already made the announcements (all I have to do is stick on a picture, his "specs", and put a stamp on the envelopes). Yeah, I have a bad feeling this will be an last-minute birth - my doctor asked if there's "bloody show" or water leakage of any sort and since I said "no," she doesn't seem concerned that he'll come anytime sooner than the due date. Have you guys discussed visitors at the hospital and at home? A lot of my friends want me to call them so they can see me at the hospital but I hate feeling drugged up and hate being at the hospital - I'm not sure if I want too many people there. Also, a friend of mine highly recommends at least 3 days of "family bonding" time alone without visitors as soon as we get home, then have visitors, which sounds like a great idea to me. I don't know if I can keep Marshall's mom away but we probably won't make too many calls until we feel comfy and know what we're doing ourselves. I feel like I'm being selfish!

I doubt you'll bleed or anything since you'll be more gentle than the doc, I didn't when I checked, I haven't done it with this one. Just make sure you're sterile. Yeah hubbies are scary. ;) LOL
