Another Boy for us!

Baby Bryson, we are so excited to meet you (but not to soon)!

Jan. 9 (30wks5days) I am new to this site. I check it out all the time and finally signed up. I am on bedrest the rest of the pregnancy, and so I figured why not sign up...it will help pass the time! I go to the doctor today to start my steroid injections for the baby. I know its what is best for him. I am fortunate enough to be a nursery RN and work in Special care nursery and NICU, so I do know a little bit about what is going on...but its totally different when it is happening to you and your baby! That is all I know for now, will update later...

Jan.10 (30w6d) Went to doc yesterday...continuing with bedrest. I have to go back today to get the second steroid injection. Those don't feel so good! Right in the bottom and it burns! Oh well, I know its what is best and I also know this is just a small fraction of the pain that lies ahead. I would honestly give my right arm to be able to go back to work, and I think if I had a desk job I would be able to but being a nurse I would be on my feet almost the whole time...she could put me on light duty but there is no telling how the day will unfurl or how busy it will be! The hospital I work at is a pretty busy place, we do between 600-800+ deliveries a month! That is a lot of babies that need care! Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day! 31 weeks tomorrow!!!

Jan. 14 (31w3d) Got a phone call this morning, not really sure how to take it. My son had fifth's disease over christmas break which is just a virus to you and I but to a fetus its pretty harmful. my OB drew a titer on me to make sure that I had the antibodies from past exposure to fight it off b/c it is bad for the baby. Of course, the nurse calls this morning and they are going to refer me to a specialist to monitor the baby from here on out b/c of it. We are totally freaking out but from what I know about it the scary part is if you are in the beginning of your pregnancy which I am not and exposed to it. I just want my baby to be healthy! Say prayers for Bryson! I am sure everything will be ok, but just the thought that something else might not be scares me.

Jan. 19 (32w1d) so yesterday we went to the specialist...not so good. I guess they measure the babies blood flow through his brain and that is how they tell if he has developed anemia ( a complication from the fifths disease) and they told me that it is very rare that this actually happens. Of course, with my luck this pregnancy, his blood flow was not so good. They did like 6 different measurements until they finally got one they liked, which after thinking about it really bothers me...if 1/6 is good than 5/6 weren't. They were ready to admit me until they got the good measurement. I go back monday morning to have the study done again and if it is off again than they will do a blood transfusion to the baby, which they told me is very invasive to me and that there is a very high chance that I will deliver during the transfusion....I don't get why they put us through this whole thing if he is 5lbs already, I know he would be preterm but he is pretty big and measures almost two weeks bigger than what I am....i don't know, so I am freaking out! Hopefully all will be well. They said if the measurement is "ok" then I am followed the rest of my pregnancy until I deliver, having these blood flow measurements done and also Non-stress tests (for my preterm labor). I am supposed to watch him this weekend and if I feel that his movement is down than I am to go into labor and delivery right away. I just don't know if this is all being handled the right way, you know? I feel like the majority of the measurements pointed in the bad direction and they just kept playing with the numbers until they got one they felt better with. I don't know what to think, I am very nervous about Monday, I pray that everything is ok I just want him to be healthy and all to be well...keep Bryson in your prayers please!
