Ava's Birth Story!!!!!!
Well... I as you all know I was scheduled to have a c-section on July 22nd at 7:30 am. She was in the frank breech position and the Dr couldn't and didn't want to turn her. We had our bags packed and were ready to go the night before her c-section. I was sooooo nervous and scared. I was afraid of the surgery and happy that we were finally getting to see our little girl all at the same time! I took a warm bath at 10:00 pm amd rubbed my belly for the last time! I went to sleep about 10:30 pm and kisssed my husband good night! I told him that I was frightned and we both prayed together for a safe delivery and a healthy baby. I dosed off and all of a udden felt a sudden erge to have to pee. I had just went pee a few minutes before so I thought it was rather odd that I had to go sooooo bad! I got up and went potty. I walker a few steps to the door and had 2 horrible contractions and.... WOOSH!!!! My water ha broken! I yelled to my husband "honey.. I think my water just broke" He of course said "no it didn't you just got out of the bath" I said "yes I think it did, the rug is all wet and the water just keeps coming out of" he of course still didn't believe me. He came in and look and said "Holy cow! Your water just broke!" I said "duh". We were FREAKIN out!!!! I called my sister because she had just had a baby 7 weeks prior and I wasn't sure if I should just wait until morning when I was scehduled to go in. She advised me that it was NOT a good idea to wait that I was in labor and to start counting my contractins and head to the hospital. So of course we were runing arond like chickens with our heads cut off getting everything loaded and letting our dogs out and stuff. Believe me... You think your prepared but your really arn't! I out on a pad and changed m unidies 3 times!! I called my sister and sked if the water was ever going to stop comin out! Said no not until you have the baby now go to the hospital already!!! My contrations were 10 minutes apart at first and by the time we had made it to the hospital they were 4 minutes apat and very painfull! I could hardly walk in the hospital. I had to hod a towel under me because I was still leaking soooo bad. I went to the early labor wing and told them I was in labor and that I was scheduled to come in at 7:30 am for my c-section. They laughed and said that the baby was ready to meet us a little early! They gave me a ultra sound and strapped me to the monitors and check to see how dialted I was. I was 3.75 dialated and they told me they were going to contact the anastialogiost and ask him what time was good for him. This was about 12:15. My family all rushed in and my pastor from church got there to pray over me. It was all happining so fast. They came back in 10 minutes later and said he was ready they would be wheeling me in at 12:50!!! My contrations were tollerable but still painful. I am so glad that my little girl aloud me to have some what of a normal labor! I was feeling a bit left out because of the c-section. But she knew that her mommy wanted to feel labor so she gave me that chance! I love her for it! They wheeled me in to surgery and gave me the epiderhal. Which by they wasn't bad at all. The cath they gave me hurt worse! My husband was then let in and the fun started!!! I was sooooo numb and groggy! All I felt was alot of pressure tugging and pulling. The medicinemade me sick and the hot dogs I had ate the night before came up! My husband kept telling me how beautiful I looked and how good I was doing I couldn't believe him... I knew I looked awful with vomit running down my face! The procedure felt like an eternity but my husband said only 15 miuntes. They showed me Ava over the curtin and the only thing I could say was... "my little chunky monkey".. She was so chunky and swollen! She came out 8 lbs 11 ozs! That's huge for being 12 days early! She was 21 inches long! They took her right away becasue they didn't like the look of her color and she was breathing right. Her little lungs were full of fluid and they needed to get it out. My husband went with them and got to help wash her up and then weheeld her to my family. All the while my guts were being put back together and I was all alone! My husband was so proud. My monther said that she will never forget the look of sure joy and love on his face! I got to the recoevery room and the rn kept asking me if I couldmove my toes. I couldn't I stayed in there for well over an hour without seeing my baby. She told me that when I could move my toes is when I could hold my baby. I felt like the movie "Kill Bill"- Were she was telling her toes to move but they wouldn't! I finaly got to see Ava again in my room around 4:30. We bonded and every one left. They stripped her bare and took my gown down and layed her across my chest. I cried. It was the most magical momment of my life. I held her until 5:00 and they took her to the nursery. She lached on my breast very easy and we are still breast feeding with formaula because I am not producing enough to satisfy her. She lost 10 ozs before we left. She weighed 8lbs 1 oz. She isn;t swollen any more and she is soooo little I can't call her chunky monkey for a while! She is sitting on my lab right now listening to me type! I love her and I hope you all enjoy your babies!
