THE TWINS ARE HERE!!!
May 31, 2008
I had a planned c-section on May 23rd due to my PIH. I was only 35 weeks and 4 days, but my blood pressure was getting too high. Two days before I had to get steriod shots for the babies lungs, ouch! Thursday into Friday I was sick to my stomach, thinking it was nerves, I tried to touch it out. By surgery time I had figured out I had the FLU!! I was vomiting like crazy, well thats not enough for them to call off surgery, it just made things worse for me. I couldn't believe it. Surgery went well, but then they had to put me on magnesium due to the blood pressure, well let me tell you that stuff makes you SICK! I was not able to see the boys or breastfeed right away because of this stuff, it was terrible. The pain from the surgery never affected me because I was feeling so sick from the meds. Then of course after surgery my liver decides to swell (from high blood pressure), so now I had to take a steriod that makes me feel like crap. I was finally able to see my boys by Saturday night! TOO LONG, but we made it through. Landon was 4 lbs 13 oz and Austin was 5 lbs 6 oz. Landon was on O2 for only a couple hours after birth but then did fine. Both boys were spity after feeding and they thought they might need feeding tubes, well god answers pray's and the boys begain feeding well before that had to happen!! After a typical 72 hour watch they boys were able to come stay with me for the last night in the hospital, I was sooooo excited they were doing so well. At only four days old the boys come home from the hospital with me and now we live happily ever after :)
About me...
I am the mother of my two step-daughters (10 and 7) and my son who is 2. I talked my husband into one more baby and the day before Thanksgiving, at my 9 week u/s, there were two little babies! Twins do not run in either one of our families and we never thought this a possiblity, we are extremely blessed!

15 week u/s- The babies are looking good and their Heart Rates are in the 150's. I asked the doctor to look for the sexs and she thinks it's two boys but doesn't want to tell me for sure because it is way early. I guess little girls can look like little boys this early, who knew?

17 week u/s- She still thinks she see's two little boys, but baby B's cord is in between is legs making it difficult for her to tell 100% There HB's are strong and looking good! I am feeling good and can't wait to feel their movement!

18 week u/s with the specialist. TWIN BOYS! There are two sacks and two placenta's. The specialist says that there is a 80% chance they are faternal and a 20% idential and the only way we will know is as they grow up or if we decide to do genetic testing. I can feel them moving around on the inside but not yet on the outside, hopefully soon.

22 week u/s - Baby A's HR is 156 and he is head down on the left side, Baby B is at 158 still cozy up top in a transverse position ( making my belly look alittle unperportioned). That's ok. The doc. said everythings good, however the next 4 weeks is the time to really watch the cervix for change, that scares me a bit, but not much I can do. Just hope for the best. I am feeling great and love'n' being pregnant. I can feel these boys moving like crazy, it seems like ALL day, but I love it.

28 weeks - The doctor said cervix is good, baby A's HR is 134 and baby B's HR is 164. Baby A has been head down this whole time until today, he has now decided to put his butt first, stinker. And baby B is still all stretched out up top. The doctor would like me to schedule a c-section now for 38 weeks and if they decide to come early then we will try vaginal. I'd rather not have surgery, but I'd also like to do what's best for the boy's. I'm still working, but starting to slow down a bit :)

31 weeks, 3 days- Baby A and Baby B are both transverse. A c-section is now scheduled for June 9th, unless they decided different. The swelling is really getting bad, but I can make it the next 7 weeks, I hope! I just want the boys to gain the weight they need to be able to come home from the hospital with me, I'LL DO ANYTHING!

33 weeks- Well, just getting home from a two day stay at the hospital. I was having pain in my back and abdomen, thinking I was in labor and found out that I had a kidney stone! I have never had so much pain in my life! The pain from the stone caused contractions and then my blood pressure wouldn't come down. They let me go home, but now I'm on strick bedrest due to the high blood pressure. The boys are great and no problems with them! Not looking forward to the laying around (at least it's at home) and now I'm really ready for the boys to get here, but I'm trying hard not to get upset and be thankful for making it thus far.

34 weeks- We saw the specialist today and Baby A- is 5 lbs 15 oz and Baby B- is 5 lbs 9 oz!!! I can't believe how big they have grown, my son was only 5lbs 15oz when he was born at 38 weeks and these boys are probably going to be bigger than him. I then wasn't feeling well and decided to go see my OB to have a BP check, and it was 170/100 she wanted to admit me to the hospital. I talked her into letting me go home and see her again Monday, she said for me to plan on being admited on Monday :( SO... it looks as though these boys will be here VERY soon because my blood pressure isn't staying down. We will see how things go on Monday.

35 weeks- Had a bloood pressure check and things are still concerning, she has decided to take the babies on Friday, May 23rd! Yeah, I think. Are the babies going to be ok? How much time in the NICU? Are we making the right choice? I am more than ready for them to be here, I just don't want them to be sick. She said the concerns will be, feeding, temp, and their lungs. They may only need to spend at most a week in the nursery. Well, I can't believe I'm so excited for something I know is going to be so much work, (ha, ha :)
