Group Beta Strep. It's a normal vaginal flora it can also be in your lower intestine. 15-40% of all healthy woman have it. There is no need for treatment for the woman because it's not really an infection. But, when you have a baby they baby could be exposed to it as the baby passes through the birth canal. The treatment is iv antibiotics (usually penicillin) during labor. Only 1 out of 1000-2000 babies actually get sick as a result of the GBS. Even though it's common it makes me worry, you know?

They put me on bedrest this past week. I have had high bp for almost 2 years now so i was already on meds when i got pregnant. but because of all of that and my bp decided it wanted to spike up for about a week (which is how i ended up on bedrest) they dont feel like she is growing the way she should. She weighed 5lbs 3ozs as of Thursday. So I'm hopeing she'll pick up some before Wed./Thurs of this coming up week. Maybe at least get to 5lbs 11 ozs or so... just something closer to 6lbs. I'm also scared for her lungs. They keep telling me that chances are she'll be fine in that area because of her being 37 weeks and so many babies are "full term" at that point but its still scarey!!!! Good luck to you and your little!!!!

Hi! I am going to be induced on the 23rd too! And my due date isn't untill the 14th. Can I ask why they are inducing you? I have to be honest I'm a little scared! I think I'm more scared because my little one is so little and its three weeks early. Anyway, I was just wondering how you were doing since we are going through this at the same time!

Why are you being induced?

I think I would too then! Last week my BP shot up too and they put me on a medicaton. The dr I saw over drugged me and caused my BP to go to low. So I have had a time! Then the swelling started. They ran a lot of test on me and just told me to hold on till week 37. Of couse I go to tge dr now 2 times a week and have an ultrasound 1 time a week. If you are worried I would go... My daughter is almost 12 so I know what you are going through too having babies so many years apart. Best of luck to you and the little one :)

I am gettiing ready to come to week 34 but I read your post. I was at the dr Thusday with the same problem. I feel like the Michelin Man in my hands and feet. My dr told me sadly that I would really just have to deal with it until the baby was born, but they are taking him at week 37. I never had this with my first.

I think they will all poke out eventually. I don't care about that part though, I just don't want to see the dreaded stretchmark!
