Just wanted to say belated thanks for the congrats...the first two weeks have been crazy and SO hard but not in a bad way. The labor experience is already starting to seem like it was all a dream...

hey!
so how overdue were you last time when you got the gel? were you getting any contractions on your own before the gel?
i just get cramping, like a heavy period is comming, some muscle cramping

its so hard to believe that by them putting some gel in there that they can actually start what ive been waiting for, for weeks!

so did you only have the one application? did you go for a walk or somthing after you got it? where the contractions managable or really fast?

sorry for all the questions, im just sooo freeked about it, as i do not want the iv cuase i hear it leads to a c-section!
good luck!:)

edensmum - Sunday, 20 April
thanks for the msg, that's really reassuring, I hope it goes as smoothly for me too! I am feeling a bit scared about it all, there's no turning back now! But I can't wait to meet my baby. All the best!

your right it does depend on if the baby is ready or not but my doc seemed to think i would be in that night i cant understand why they build your hopes up likethat but i shouldnt be surprised two weeks ago the nurse said i was in labour !!!....i had a couple of dates as well the first was 10th april..and my baby is measuring 42weeks now, 2 weeks ago i was told my baby was quite small arond 7lbs(compared to my others) and was able to turn in and out of breech postion freely cuz my bump was massive...but now they told me its had a major growth spurt and will be around 10lbs ...which i dont mind my second was 10lbs and she was the easiest delivered and easiest fed :) ..im due for induction wed, i have been induced all 3 previous and dont mind but i would just love to go myself!!...good luck 2 u i hope something happens for u soon ...i got reflexology on my feet last week and it never made anything happen either.....so good luck with the accupunture...who knows u could be away already ......good luck xx

It's good to hear that the cervical ripener worked for you without the need for pitocin. They're definitely starting with cervidil, but as far as I know I'll be staying in the hospital once it's in. I didn't even think to ask about going home after that. But I will definitely ask tomorrow. Thanks for your support!

Don't you think if our family and friends would just stop asking us how we feel and if we had the baby yet we'd have way less anxiety about the weight?? Ahhhh!!!

Hey there--I talked to my dr. and he wants to induce on Sat. (tomorrow)--one week over my due date. At this point, I'm feeling pretty ready so I think we're going to go with it. I'm a little nervous, but I've been open to having an epidural from the start, so I think I'll just try to get that in place as early as possible. In the meantime, I have about 24 hours to go into labor on my own--here's hoping!

edensmum - Friday, 18 April
thanks for your comment. I will try to wait it out as I really don't want to be induced, there are a lot of risks involved. I'll read up on what you sent, thanks heaps. All the best with your bubs x!

Thanks!! I swear she changes everyday!! Best of luck to you- I hope your labor comes on naturally and is as painless as possible. Cant wait to see sum pics of your little one!

Whoa--44 weeks?? I don't think I would make it--the waiting would kill me! I had my 2nd NST today, and everything still looks good, so it looks like we're going to keep waiting. Hopefully I'll talk to my dr. today and see what he thinks (he didn't do the NST--he just gets the results). We scheduled ANOTHER NST and amniotic fluid check for Monday--hard to believe I could make it til then, but I think it's possible! Good luck with your test, and with the waiting. Yes, being off work makes it a little hard to focus on anything but the baby, but I think for me at least being at work would be pretty tough too. I teach 3rd grade and am on my feet most of the day--plus I'd be worried about going into labor in a room full of 8-year-olds. Not ideal!

My dr ended up giving me Pitocin because my water broke and NOTHING was happening. It was awful, even with an epidural I was in pain, and after 11 hours of pitocin I had to have a c-section anyway. If your midwife is ok with you waiting it out longer, I say go for it!!

aderyn3 - Thursday, 17 April
Thank you! I was very disappointed with my hospital experience. I do medical transcription, and it just kills me the things I type that happen to women every day. I have a good friend whose sister was due right before me. At 37 weeks she had contractions, they admitted her, broke her water, and she ended up with the C-section because she wasn't progressing enough. It just makes me cringe to think the doctors pushed things along that most likely were not ready to happen and put her through that. I am all for doctors intervening when there are problems, but we wouldn't be here if birth wasn't a natural process! This will be our last baby, but I would never go back to a hospital to give birth unless my baby or I were in mortal danger. My homebirths were wonderful experiences for me. In fact, I would rather be having a homebirth than being pregnant any day. Pregnancy is much harder on my body than the deliveries have been. I even read some things just yesterday about Pitocin and its over use. The FDA has not even approved it for general induction of labor! There are just so many statistics that support the safety of NOT being in a hospital. Ricki Lake did a film called "The Business of Being Born" featuring her own home birth. I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it's just great. It's supposed to be available on Netflicks. From what I understand, it talks about the massive profits that are being made from over-intervened with births. Good luck with your baby! Hang in there and be glad you'll have a healthy, fully cooked baby!

april2008 - Thursday, 17 April
Well, truly if your baby is fine after some testing, just try to be patient. I know this sucks. I was due on April 8th. I had a really bad emotional day about yesterday. I get that the lack of sleep is great prep for this little one but I am so over this child invading my space. LOL! I am having a home birth though so unless I go ridiculous over (past 3 weeks) then we aren't doing anything but waiting. I will be wishing labor dust for you!!

mrt2153 - Thursday, 17 April
I'm in the same boat--2 due dates about a week apart, and overdue for both of them. I had a NST on Monday too, and they've scheduled me for another tomorrow. If it's looking good, I guess we'll wait. Do you think your dr. would schedule you for another one to check the baby and the amniotic fluid? That might make everyone feel better about waiting. I'm unsure about being induced as well--I've hear good and bad things about it. Good luck and keep us posted!

cait13 - Thursday, 17 April
I would hold off on the induction if I were you. From everything I've read, it's completely normal and healthy for some pregnancies to go to 42 weeks. If you're only 5 days over, based on your calculations, that's hardly late at all. As long as your healthcare provider says that the baby's doing well and you're doing well, why rush it? I'm about 3 days "overdue" now, and have a doctor's visit tomorrow. She said that we'd schedule an induction at that appointment if I hadn't gone into labor yet, but hubby and I have decided that unless there's a medical reason to do it, we will just wait. We're both eager and a little impatient, but realize that it'll happen when baby's ready and when my body's ready. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide. Oh, also, we had an ultrasound done last week, and the sonographer told us that they can't very accurately determine the baby's age this late. If you had an earlier US, around 12 weeks, that's when they're most accurate. Or if you know the date of your last period, or the conception date, that's probably a better way to figure out baby's age, than based on the US.

mizzy - Wednesday, 16 April
if your ultrasound puts you at 12 days overdue,i would probably take the induction.dont want the baby to get too big, lol! good luck

agonzales - Wednesday, 16 April

darkangel - Thursday, 10 April
Thanks for the offer but I think I am just going to wait it out. I've lasted this long; so I think I could go the 11 days if I have to. I actually don't live in BC at all, I'm in ON. I tried several times to change it on here once they made the new webpage but without success. It just goes back to saying van, bc so I just left it. Good luck to you with your school work...I haven't been so good at actually opening a text..lol. Maybe I can be more focused once the baby is here. Thanks again. I hope that you have your baby soon too.

mandielouise - Monday, 7 April
