Well hubby and I talked about having more children, but just were not sure when or if we would, then surprise I'm pregnant! Could not have been worse timing of course. I was planning on being a surrogate for my best friend and her husband whom cannot have children because of her severe diabetes, and during the doctors visits, they tell me I am already pregnant. My friend is still understanding, and patiently waiting on me to birth this one, and then six months later, go for IVF for their baby. We'll have to wait and see, I am not a spring chicken as I have found out with this pregnancy, and it is taking a toll on my body at my age. When I had our son, I was 19 years old, and my body could take the pregnancy better, plus I was a homemaker at the time which helped. Now I work full time plus, with a stressfull job, and I bring in the main income along with our medical/dental benefits, so I have to work now. So I am stressed about maternity leave, with my income dropping down (California disability doesn't pay crap), and I will have to pay for our benefits completely while on leave.

Had another 3D/4D ultrasound, and it is a boy after all. I had two ultrasounds (17 weeks & 20 weeks) that were told 100% it was a girl, which were wrong, because it was actually a boy. The tech stated that the scrotum usually doesn't drop until after 22 weeks, and is often confused as the "three lines" as a girl. So I have lots of girls stuff to return to lots of stores. It sucks for all the returns, but I am glad to finally know what is growing inside of me, and can actually start to plan ahead again. The not knowing in limbo, was really taking the joy out of the pregnancy. My SIL had already begun sewing a pink blanket, so I told her to bleach it white!

I just got put on bedrest for the next 2 weeks for high blood pressure (149/94). I have never had it before, so it was brought on by the pregnancy. It really blows! Besides my feet, and legs swelling, my hands sometimes do also. The meds they have me trying makes me feel loopy and tired all the time, oh and one of the side effects is more swelling-great. I had to do a 24 hr urine test- that was fun peeing everytime in a cup for all of Sunday. Pretty much stuck to the house for the entire day, and then having to chug a big orange jug of pee to work yesterday, and then to the lab. I am so glad I work alone on Mondays, so no one had to see my pee in the fridge. Oh the joys of pregnancy! So far though no protein in my urine, but I go back on Friday to see my dr about the 24 hr results, so we'll see. Hopefully I can go back to work soon. With the meds at least my bp is now lower to 119/86.

Well I'm off until the 29th just to make sure that my blood pressure is under control with the new meds. I failed my 1 hour glucose test, so I have to go back and do the 3 hr test. Yeah! So my doctor wants me to go ahead and watch my sugar twice a day, and follow a diabetic diet until then. Not fun, but whatever it takes to have a healthy baby!

Still off work from dr's order for labor contractions, high blood pressure, and now for sure gestational diabetes. I didn't pass my 3hr test, but kind of figured that I wouldn't with all these other problems going on. If I feel good Monday I the dr said I can go back to work,so we'll see. Good news is my best friend is having a baby shower for me on May 17th. We figured with all my problems it is probably better to move it up one month, because I may be in the hospital or on strict bedrest. Plus June is a busy month for most families with traveling after school is out, and graduation.

Went to the hospital early this morning after having contractions 4 minutes apart for over an hour with cramping, lots of low pressure and lets just say I had loose bowels and lots of braxton hicks contractions all weekend. I knew I didn't feel right/good, but already being on moderate bedrest, I stayed in bed most of the weekend. At the hospital they monitored me, which the contractions then starting coming 2-3 minutes regularly, and gave me meds to stop the contractions even though my cervix was still closed, and gave me a steroid shot for the baby's lungs to help mature. I have to get another steroid shot tomorrow at the dr's office, and get re-checked, and go over my future meds. The steroid shot hurts, it real thick liquid like syrup so they have to inject is real slowly in your shoulder through a big needle. They also did an enzyme test to see if I will have the baby in the next 14 days, and it came back negative-it's 99% correct, so for the 1% they are not sure! The sent me home on meds to stop the uterine contractions from coming back which I have to take every 4 hours, and bedrest. Man I feel like I got hit by a train, I will write more tomorrow after my dr's visit.
