3-29-08

Yesterday was our first Dr. appt ( 8 weeks) for shots. What fun! Bobby had to get 4 shots in the upper thigh and one oral vaccine, so no wonder he was not a happy camper last night. Today was much better. smiles are back. Of course he as a complete angel at the Doctors office. We told them he has horns, but no one believes us. hahahahahah

Here are his stats at 8 weeks:

  • 90th percentile -24 inches long
  • 75th percentile -12lbs and 12 oz!!!!! (he gained almost 6 pounds....!!)
  • 25th percentile - 39 centimers around the head.

3-26-08

Hello all, Well the adventure continues at our house. Baby "Bobby" decided that he wanted to be cranky this past week or so and I had to move to desperate measures to keep sanity, so I bought some "GRIPE WATER". What a difference in our little man! He is not nearly as gassy and seems to not mind if I put it in the supplement formula.

Cheers for some sleep! ....finally zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

3-17-08 Happy St. Pattys Day!!!!

Hello all, Heres where we are so far- Things have been going well. Apparently we have a no sleeping rule in our house now.... lol

Bobby is about 11 pounds so far. My Dr. appt. is Wed. so I hope all goes well. The baby discovered a new cry this week. Kind of whiney and then a screetch. The boy has some lungs! For only being 7 weeks old he has outgrown all newborn and 3 month old cloths ( super long legs) so we are in 3to 6 months clothes ALREADY!!!!!!

1/30/08!!!!!!!!!!!! The big day!!!!!!!!!!!

Bobby was born today (WED)after stating our ordeal at the hospital Tuesday at 12:00 noon he came to us at 4:48pm the next day!!!!!!! Induced us and I got stuck at an 8 so they decided to do an emergency C- Section. All is well. He is pretty for a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bobby
  • 7lbs and 12oz
  • 20 inches long and huge feet and hands like daddy!!!!!
  • JAn 30th, 2008 at 4:48PM

My little angel> Bob is the humble daddy and I'm besides myself with awe. Glad it's finaly over! I'm moving over to the talking babies side, so I'll see all of ou aver there I hope!!!!!

Good luck to all my on line friends. I keep the same name of ragtopgirl so don't forget to keep me in the loop about your stories.

Love,

Joell and Bob and Bobby

Lots of stuff to catch up on- If I make it until Tuesday they will induce! I am borderline preeclampsia with high blood pressure for the first time in my life and the swelling is outrageous. I think I lost my mucus plug on Friday night and had lots of contractions. ( real ones) They are much different then the other that I had felt. Scared me....

I did spend last Friday and Sat at the Hospital for observation. Doing better now that I was in bed for a week...

Looking forward to meeting my son soon. He is moving around alot and resonded to Bob kissing my stomache last night while talking to the baby. Bob was asking him to give a kick or something and kept kissing my stamoach loudly and sure enough- the baby kept responing to him. we both cracked up!

Had my eye brows waxed yesterday, cant look like Chubaca from star wars for labor, you know! :0

1/15/08

Only 3 weeks to go. The in-laws were here this week and helped declutter the house, garage, babys room. Looks great! We had a fabulous baby shower last Sat. and received lots of goodies for the baby. There were about 27 people that were there and the room was decorated gorgeous. My mom and sister in law threw it and we had friends help out with decorations and fun stuff. I'm feeling like it won't be long now. The cloths are cute and I cannot believe how small the daipers are.....

The Feet look like Fred Flinstone feet and I am so tired most of the time that I wish I would have listened to everyone that told me that I was going to slow down, so get everyting done early. I thought NO WAY! that's not happening to me... hahaha - it happened. Bob is fine and getting anxious too. Everyday now is a waiting game... :)

1/2/08!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Well only 35 days to go! WOW can't belive that we are so close to the due date of Feb 7th. Going to do a baby pool soon. :) Cheers!

12/24/07

Merry Christmas everyone! 33 weeks!!!!! only about 6 to go......Just back from the final shopping experience this year and let me tell you, I am too popped to party! those shoppers are crazy! I have a night of wrapping ahead of me so I could really use some go go juice! I had a pepsi, but it did not do the trick! I'm still sick with a bad cold, so thats probably it.

The last week has been an adventure in baby land. BAby "K" is moving around alot and I've had some urine leakage when I cough and stuff. I think it may be due to being sick with coughing and stuff. Bob has been great, even when I had a moment last week and kick Tigger the cat OUT of the Bed and room for the evening. I am feeling really cramped these days in bed. ( I knew we should have bought the King size mattress) :) Have been feeling a little emotional lately and hearing stories of how things can still go bad at the end of a pregnancy have left me feeling very insecure. Started packing the bag for the hospital this week, but not done yet!

We put the crib together this week, so I guess it's official! We now have a BABY ROOM! ...........OMG this IS really happening...and I can't wait. Getting anxious about the labor, not looking forward to it, but I know it will be worth it

....smiles to all-Joell

12-18-07

Well it's 3:30 AM again and I'm up again. Can't sleep. This week was a busy one with Christmas shopping, wrapping and hosting a girlfriends annual gift exchange at my house. Decided to do frozen lasagna and have each gal bring something because I just wasn't up to "Cooking" this year.

The baby is moving around so much these days that sometimes it feels like it never stops. At the DR. Appt. last week this made my DR. happy. I'm so tired these days that I really want it to move along quickly. I have 6 weeks to go IF I go all the way. I think I'm going early though. Tomorrow we will be 33 weeks and have our last birthing class. I promised the instructor that I would have my labor bag ready so I guess that will give me something to do tomorrow before class. PS - the video's scared the crap out of me. I have a low tollerance for pain and those 2 girls just looked miserable so I cried, but tried to hide it in class.

My shower is not until Jan. 12th and now I'm nervous that we won't have enough time to get everything after the shower, but dont want to buy anything before the shower....Hopefully we will get some goodies. Tons of my husbands family/friends live on the east coast, so maybe the gift card thing will work for them. I sent out 60 invites including out of towners, but am only expecting about 30 people ( this include about 15 seniors form the place my mom lives at) so only about 15 close people to me and my husband will be there. Should be interesting. I let my sister in law and mother pick the theme for the shower. I figured since they were throwing it, they could have fun with a theme and surprise me. I'm not real particular about the shower so I gae them the blessing to go have fun and do what the heack they want. Now the baby room is another story...hahahaha :)

12-3--07

This little one is jumping around like crazy the past few days. It feels like an earthquake in there. Not sure what that rumbling means! :) anyways, hubby Bob painted the room yesterday a pretty blue and we finally registered. Baby k Shower is Jan 12. All is coming together nicely and I'm feeling better. I was sick Friday, sat, sun and felt bettter today. Had a stomach issue. Glad thats over! Bob took today off from work and we hung out doing nothing, just reconnecting because when Im sick and being a baby,I just kind of slept alone downstairs and was miserable, so I'm BACK now! He was very supportative when he told me he missed the real me. what a guy. Meanwhile the baby decided to learn how to do back flips or something while I was living in the bathroom for a couple of days.... That was an experience in it's self.

11-25-07

This is me at 29 weeks! Getting bigger everyday! Went for another U-Sound today to show my mom what it was like and got a black and white DVD for an extra $5.00! Very cool. Baby K has long legs and we saw a BIG FOOT too. Must be an NBA player in there since hubby is 6'5!

11-16-07

OK, so I'm huge! I'm dealing with this adjustment in size. Boobs are gigantic. Today was a fabulous day becasue we emptied my office into my husbands office ( we will share now) and the babys room is empty and ready for a make over. I won't go crazy, just some nice touches. We will paint Thanskgiving weekend (Bob will) a pale blue. Colors will be Mint green and yellow. I am getting excitied and look forward to the end. Still can't sleep a wink, so now I don't fight it.

11-8-07

27 weeks yesterday! Things are going good except for the bathroom breaks at night and the non sleeping. Baby k is moving around all of the time and I had my first rib kick karate chop last week. He wants out.... ahahahha!

10-15-07

I lost all info so I am starting over..... I'm 40, married and 23 weeks/5days today. Having a little man Feb. 7th, 2008! Happy to be married a year and even happier to be preggo. :) Good luck to all!

Happy Mothers Day

megansav - Saturday, 26 April
Hi there! My 3 month son and I traveled on a plane twice last week. Alot of people have said that if you feed the baby as the plane is taking off, his sucking will help with the ears popping. If your baby uses a pacifier, I'm sure the results will be the same.

My son sat on my lap and slept nearly the whole time but, when he was awake, I gave him a little toy to play with to keep him occupied. He also liked to sit on the snack tray table and look around. I put my purse in the luggage and used only his diaper bag, with a few of my things inside, as the carry-on. I know that Delta doesn't count the baby carrier as a checked item so if you have a travel system, you can check his carseat and keep the stroller to push through the terminal. The flight attendant will take it at the entrance of the plane to stick it underneath and it will be waiting for you when you land.

Also, I was told to bring my son's birth certificate, although they didnt end up asking for it. Better to be safe than sorry! Just keep the formula and/or BM at the top of your diaper bag because when you go through security they'll make you take it out. And be aware you have to fold up the stroller and put THAT through the x-ray machine too. Sory this is long, but I hope it helps. Email me with any questions! Good Luck!

we also have one of those toy bars for the car seat and braeden LOVES it! he'll go to sleep if we stick him in his car seat and let him play w/ it. but my dr warned me not to let him play w/ it too often b/c he could get crosseyed. but i think its great for every now and then when baby really needs a distraction! lol

You were so right. My little girl did just what you said your little man did. She cried at the doctors came home smiled and cood then two hours later cried uncontrollably but today she is back to her normal self...what a relief.

atrip1 - Tuesday, 22 April
Aww what a handsome boy. Thankyou so much for your response =) I appreciate it greatly.

karenc - Monday, 21 April
aw, poor baby -- several of the babies in 2 mos seem to be teething -- yikes!! my friend swears by baby tylenol, and i'm sure you have some.

things are good here and, I can hardly believe it, but beckett's been sleeping 8 hours in a row for the last two nights. i 've actually gotten 5+ hours of sleep in a row for 2 nights, the most i've gotten since I went in to have him. I feel like a new woman! I wish I could thank him, like make my boobs produce chocolate milk, lol -- that was gross, sorry! and damn, he's so heavy; I just took him grocry shopping in the Snuggli and feel like I ran a marathon! i'm having to put away more of his first clothes, but so many people keep giving us 3-6 mos I haven't had to buy much, thank goodness.

are you flying to chi town or driving? it should be okay, but i'd be sort of nervous too. i'll bet it goes more smoothly than you'd imagine. we're trying to sell our condo so we can move back to the area our parents live in and this market's ugly... sigh! but it needs to be done. :)

I go back the week of 5/12, half days that first week and then full days the next, but my boss is letting me try working one day from home, so I feel lucky. it's going to be weird and, I think, hard... i'd better make sure I have kleenex in my bag, haha!

karenc - Monday, 21 April
hi there! i'm trying something new to address (my neuroses about) the flat head situation. I rrad online somewhere to try putting your baby to bed with their head at the opposite end of the crib/bassinet. generally, the babies want to face out to the room, rather than in to the wall, so switching the side that the room is on makes them turn their heads. i'm trying it tonight & we'll see how it goes. not sure if you've already tried this, but thought i'd throw it out there!

Hey, I have been looking at your page and your son is gorgeous. He must be so much fun.

Yes, I sometimes leave pictures and graphics on other pages. Most of the pictures are from the website: http://photobucket.com/ After finding the image that I like I copy the html code for websites and blogs and paste it into the page of one of the other mothers on this site.

I am glad to hear that your baby is healthy. My husband is also tall. He is 6’2”, so I have a feeling that our baby will grow fast as well. That is a great tip to stick to the simplicities like onsies for the first 2-months. We are having a girl, and I want her to be comfortable.

I am very much looking forward to being a mother. I am even looking forward to delivering my baby. We are having a healthy baby girl, and every day I dream about being able to hold her for the first time.

I have about a month and 3-weeks to go before her due date, and right now my challenge is sleeping. I have never in my life had trouble sleeping. In fact, relaxing and falling asleep is one of the things that I have always been good at. Except now, I have to wake up several times during the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Plus, the baby movements are stronger, and I have made the transition from sleeping on my stomach to sleeping on my side since my belly is getting big and sleeping on my stomach is too uncomfortable. Lately I have been going to bed at the normal time, but then waking up very early because I can not get back to sleep. The way I have been dealing with the sleep is by getting good at taking naps during the day. And, I have been so tired the naps do not affect my sleep schedule at night.

Thanks so much for the tips about what to bring to the hospital. The music is a great idea. My husband and I have been creating an ongoing list.

Take care, Margy

Hello,
Sooo sorry it has taken so long to respond to your message. I gave up full time work two days ago and am now just getting energy back! Congrats on your little boy, he is absolutely gorgeous! You all look very, very happy. I showed my hubby and he is getting very broody!
I am fine thanks, only four more weeks to go, I am hoping that my little boy is as cute as yours!!!
Hope he is sleeping through the night...
Once again, congrats!!!
Speak soon x x

Thanks for the grape advice. It is such an adjustment to eat when you don't feel well, but it really does help instantly. Now I am battling not being able to eat in the evenings, but I know I have to or I won't feel well in the morning. I also can't eat as much at one sitting. Seeing your little bundle makes it easier to press on. He is adorable and I love the wee wee tee pee. Too cute!

Hey, I love the pictures of Bobby that you posted. They are amazing. I was hoping that you would put some pictures up. It must be so much fun, even though we could all use some more sleep to have a baby.

I have really looking forward to having my baby. My due date is June 11. We have already taken a tour of the hospital and are meeting with our doula to plan the birthing process. When I was at my midwife's appointment they said that my weight gain was perfect, but I feel so big right now and awkward physically. I am looking forward to getting my old body back and to being more physically active.

karenc - Friday, 4 April
hahaha, you're not retarded, my dear, you've just had too many retard sandwiches (also known as sleep deprivation), like me -- I walked around the yeterday morning for over 3 hours w/ my sweatpants on backward. nice! love the pix of your little gorilla! I know he's weighing a ton, but he looks just great and ready to drive. he looks, to me, like a total composite of both you and bob, tho I know they change a lot every week. yay, healthy babies!

lisamarie8503 - Friday, 4 April
Aww he is so cute!!!

kayla-love - Friday, 4 April
Just looked at your photos, hes beautiful ! kAYLA X

laurabutterfly81 - Thursday, 3 April
Thank you, I always loved that u/s picture. Layla is almost 3 weeks old now. I can't believe it! Time has really flown by. I'm glad to read I am not the only one that has not slept since the baby ..lol. Hope you little one lets you get a good nights rest soon!

karenc - Thursday, 3 April
hey there and happy belated birthday! I love that we're advanced age parents -- gross, haha! I go back the 2nd week of may and I am a little weirded out at the thought. i'm going to talk to my boss about going back 4 days a week or working one day from home. i'm like you in that I don't know if my sanity would support my staying home full time, lol, but we def can't afford for me not to work, so back I go. if you can do it, I think you'll really come to love it.

have you tried Avent bottles and nipples? we're using them with size 1 nipples and, for the most part, beckett seems ok w/ them. not sure when to upgrade to size 2?? lol, btw, I call beckett my little monkey, so we def have both coasts covered as far as primates, ha!!

I was talking to my dad about a sibling for beckett just yesterday; my dad is an only child and said it 'sucked' growing up. so I do want to either have another baby or adopt a child when beckett is around 2. which it will be I don't know, but I think that's the way it'll go. I have NO idea how i'd care for a newborn with a little boy already around, let alone going thru a pregnancy either!!

sounds like you're going thru something similar; any strong opinions about adopting? btw, my midwife was all over me at my 6 wk checkup to have another baby. I looked at her like she had a screw loose and said 'helen, i'm 6 weeks postpartum; slow down!!'

karenc - Sunday, 30 Mar
lol, you are too funny!! tho i'd love it if someone said, hey, keep that last 10 lbs girl, it's hot! not that i'm complaining - I haven't exercised at all and all but the 10 fell off from the bf. hooray, at least there's a plus side to having sore nipples!!!

your bobby is a big boy already!! but that's great; healthy babies are always a good thing. your poor back, tho, lol - ugh! I know target's having baby gear sales, so maybe you can find him some bigger PJs there and some sleep sacks.

Things here are good! Beckett's outgrown his newborn outfits and is now in 3 month stuff. He's not a roly poly baby, but LONG and he's filling out more. noticed some new changes, too: he's sleeping a bit longer at night, going longer in between feedings, and poooping less. his digestive system is maturing and using more of the food we're putting in him and that's goooood. he had his 2 mo checkup (tho he was 6 wks at the time) and weighed 9 lbs, was 23.5 in. long and put another .5 cm on his head. his height is in the 95th percentile and his weight somewhere between 5th and 35th . ped was happy he's gaining weight and impressed by his length. we also had 4 vaccinations; 3 injections and an oral and he screeched bloody murder, lol! poor thing and ran a little fever next day.

still bf here & giving one bottle of formula before bed at night. not sure i'll be able to keep up much longer but we'll see. This morning, I was changing him and he peed (loves to do that when diaper's off) and it hit him right in the face, LOL! He was very surprised, but otherwise unperturbed!

babyharris - Sunday, 30 Mar
Hi,
Congratulations on your baby! I amdoing well, not stuck in the bed on bedrest all day long, but trying to manage the gestational diabetes with diet. I think I am nesting now, because I want everything clean!!!
