My husband, Eric and I have been married since January of 2007 and we've tried for over a year to have a child. We've gone through two miscarriages and this is our little miracle baby. My husband is about to deploy to Iraq for the second time in the fall, which means that he'll miss the birth of our little one by about 6-8 weeks. We are extremely excited but very anxious and nervous at every little twitch and movement I feel because of our past pregnancies. So far this pregnancy has been nothing but right on track with no complications and I can't tell you enough how grateful we are.

I wish everyone else a healthy pregnancy!

most doctors will do what you ask. Tell him you want to go to 1/2 days and see if he will write a note.

My work is actually being very cool.. They are giving me six weeks off paid and then anytine after that will be unpaid.. But still Nevada sucks when it comes to having a baby..

Good luck!! I hope something is happening for you! I am lucky enough that I have been out of work for 2 weeks, so at least I don't have to function throughout the day anymore. I am now sleeping on the couch. it is the only place I can get comfortable!! Only a few more weeks!!

Don't ever worry about getting back to me. Writing on this site should be for fun and support. Very soon you're going to be too busy to keep up with anything.

I am so sorry to hear that you're sick. I hope it passes quickly.

Talk to you soon.

It's a different kind of lack of sleep after you have the baby. When I was pregnant, I was so uncomfortable (as I'm sure you are) and that was just exhausting. At least with a baby, the discomfort goes away after a few weeks. The waking is for a purpose most of the time...to feed the baby. As everyone says, nap when the baby naps. I actually couldn't help but do that.

Rose slept 7 hours in a row last night. That's INSANE! We're now going out for a coffee and to try to find her baby Mary Janes. With all of this frill I subject her to, she's sure to become a tomboy.

ok...bows are coming in the mail tomorrow

I don't know if Rose will be tall. Her dad has tall genes, but I have short and curvy genes.

It is so hard to ask for help, but it's so important to heal. I was advised by wise friends to give in and get the help. YOu'll forever be a strong mommy for your little one.

Write to you soon.

It does make sense that you won't want help, but my advice to you is to take some, especially in that first week. You'll need someone to make sure you eat and are hydrated. I am usually a fiercely independent workaholic type, but I really needed the help of my husband in those first two weeks. After that, my mom helped for two more and I sooooo needed it. I had a vaginal delivery, but it took me until now to heal. If you're planning on breastfeeding, I'll say that you need even a little more help. Getting breastfeeding down in those first two weeks is a full time job in and of itself. It was so much harder than I imagined, and I found that she was tied to my boob every hour (or less!) for the first few weeks. It's crazy making if you don't have someone to make you a sandwich or give you a break to take a shower to rinse of some of that lovely baby spit up. Now that it's under control, I'm back to denying help. (I hope that didn't come across as a lecture at all).

How big do the doctors say your little one is now? Rose was under 7 pounds and is now 9 pounds. She has the skinniest little butt, smaller than the palm of my hand!

Those protector pads are sooooooo useful! They save you from changing the bassinet sheets every day!

Rose sleeps in the cotton Carter's pajamas. I don't have anything fleece for her other than the Halo thingy. It's pretty toasty here in California. I do have one set of pajamas made out of terry cloth, and that one's good. I thought Rose would outgrow her clothes right away, too. If anything, she's going to be too long for her onesies and I'll get those crotch expander things.

I really admire you and your ability to handle things right now. Do you have friends or family or a support system there?

At first I put Rose in gowns with those hand covering things on them and swaddled her in blankets. After that I started putting her in Carter's button down pajamas because she was squirming out of the gowns and swaddler and getting cold (She sleeps sooooo well when warm). These days I've been putting her in pajamas or onesies and then in those velcro swaddler things, but she's a regular Houdini and wiggles right out! She definitely needs to be warm to sleep, though. I haven't put her in the Halos Sleep Sac that I have because she's so tiny. That thing is ENORMOUS! She still wears teeny clothes, newborn in Carter's.

You know what you need a ton of with a newborn...cloth diapers or pieces of flannel (swaddling cloths work well). Babies are freaking leaky! I thought that since I breastfeed she wouldn't spit up. Boy was I wrong. I have so many little cloths on hand for disasters. They don't need to be fancy, but they should be soft. Babies have sensistive faces.

Do you have a lot of clothes and all of the stuff you need?

adriennella - Monday, 6 October
When did your husband leave for Iraq? How are you doing?

want anything else for your package that you can't get? I live in a very urban area and can get just about anything.

adriennella - Monday, 6 October
you're so welcome! did you have a good weekend?

adriennella - Sunday, 5 October
I went out and got you cute hairband/bows. It was a fun errand! I'll send them in the mail this week.

adriennella - Saturday, 4 October
Russell's going to watch Rose for a few minutes tomorrow while I run out to Target to snag bows for you. Any other things you're desperately seeking?
