Wow...that's been effort! No,
not getting pregnant...getting back access to this site. My original
page was just Rosiebaby...so for those that I did not get back
to....sorry- I seemed to have big glitches with the system!!! Enough of
that.
Now I am almost 24 weeks pregnant....first time Mom to be at 41...yes, that supposedly advanced maternal age. Well
for other older first timers I am here to say it's so far been very
easy, uncomplicated and devoid of all the horror stories that medical
staff and others like to update and keep you informed with...Blahhh.
I
have had no morning sickness, my nuchal & tri blood screen with
ultrasound placed me at the same risk as a 15 year old for Downs...and
most recent ultrasound showed all is going well and healthy for my
little man! So the most important factor is being healthy ( mind most importantly) at whatever age you fall pregnant.
Having
read a lot of the VIP Moms here for the last 3 months there seems to be
large differences in the processes for pregnancy in the U.S as there is
here in Australia and fortunately we are kept well informed of many of
our choices as well as supported in being the decision maker for how we
wish to give birth.
Congratulations
to all the Mums and thanks for all the advice, input and questions that
I have been able to read along with you...it is wonderful to share this
journey...especially being a first timer!!!!

P.S
Any comments from experienced mums who had a labour without episiotomy
and/or drugs that have helpful tips or strategies they used that they
believe worked...please feel free to share them here. I suffer from
migraines (sometimes) so epidural is off the cards and I'd love to
prepare my body as much as possible to keep the birthing experience
endurable- which has certainly been the case for other women!
Dec 9th; Xmas Party
Only
just squeexed into this...another few days and I would have been in
serious trouble dressing up for our Roaring 20's night. This pic is
taken on my balcony...one of the reasons I LOVE being at home...and my
little man must love party's as he danced much of the night to my
delight!

18th Jan; Just entering the 32 week mark and I have 20 kg's extra weight...phew (about 44lbs for you non-metrics) so will be pleased if bubs decides to pop in earlier than his due date. Was challenged with the pubic cartilage pain and found that sleeping with pillows propped all along one side & laying at every opportunity has minimised this pain. I also know how to maximise it...walk and stand a lot!!!!
Also had heartburn for the first time at week 30 for a few days and found that having a milk drink not long before bed settled this for me.
Funnily I have a lot of psychic girlfriends; one who even stars on several tv shows and I asked them all to see what date they have for the birth.( I guess my way of trying to find control over something that I have no control over...lol)
Interestingly all have Feb ( instead of March) and range between 14th & 17th. The 14th would make for an interesting date for me as I recently buried my father on Valentines Day!
All the florists thought I was such a popular girl...not realising that the flowers sent to me were for a death.. so it would certainly turn this day into a celebration and the most precious gift of love one could receive....their own son! We will see if any of them are right!
Happy pregnancies ladies....
24th January; Due date Update!!
Well interestingly enough I have just returned from my Dr's appointment and they now have me scheduled for an ultrasound after the long weekend here (Aus) on Tuesday as I am measuring too big so they want to check the dates...my measurements apparently have me some 2- 3 weeks further along than I am....starting to look like the Feb bub instead of the March one...will keep you posted!
Well bubs made his arrival much earlier than expected!!!
Dane arrived February 4 at 2.15am after my waters broke 5 days before delivery we were hospitalised and then after almost 12 hours of pre labour labour ( I'd never even heard of!) and then only a few hours in posterior labour ( there's an experience!!!) my one push wonder arrived 5lb 3.5 oz and almost 6 weeks early. Happy to report that after 17 days in hospital I now finally have my beautiful Dane home and he is one happy and healthy bubby.
Good luck ladies xxxx
