Hi there,

My name is Sandra, and I live in Melbourne in Australia. I have 3 cheeky boys, and we were thrilled to discover that this time we are expecting a GIRL!!! I'm sure you could all appreciate how exciting this is for our family. It will be nice to finally see some pink around the place, after years of blue ;) And of course her three big brothers can't wait to meet her! We are going to name her Alysha.

All 3 of my previous babies have ended up being very overdue, so I expect that to happen again. I do have big babies. My first son was 8lb 8oz, my second son was 10lb 6oz (and NO drugs at all!!), my third son was 9lb 7oz.

April 23rd, 2008 (28 weeks)

Well, it has been a very trying week for me this past week. I had a lump forming between my nose and my eye, that suddenly became very enlarged, and was pushing on my eyeball, placing very painful pressure on it.

After a couple of trips to the eye hospital, I ended up having a catscan. (This is safe at 29 weeks of pregnancy, but they also placed a lead blanket over my belly to protect it). It clearly showed a complete blockage of my tear duct all the way up to my rear sinus, where a cyst had formed and become infected. Therefore, this sudden enlargement had pushed my eyeball out of it's socket, as was clearly visible on the catscan. At least that explained the immense pressure and pain that I was feeling.

I require surgery to fix this, however, while they can operate while pregnant, for the doctor and myself this was just not an option right now, as neither wanted to face the risks involved.

To provide me with some form of relief for now, he numbed my eye - OUCH!! Then he suctioned out 5mL of mucous (sorry, GROSS!) from my eye. But THAT HURT SO MUCH!!! (even though it was numb). He explained that this was because of the "negative pressure" as it was releasing. SO painful. Anyway, the cyst has gone down a little for now, and I am on antibiotics & eye drops to kill the infection. Now I just have to hope that it stays that way for now, and doesn't grow quickly again.

We will schedule some surgery for soon after the baby is born to fix the problem.

It just goes to show how much expectant Mums are willing to go through to protect these precious bundles that we have on board!

July 4th, 2008 (39 weeks)

I might as well do one final post. I'm bored out of my brains waiting, and so many people on this site have disappeared, as they are the fortunate ones to have had their bubs.

Well, firstly, my eye is okay right now. But it has been flaring up every now and then. Not much longer to put up with it now anyway.

Secondly, looks like I'm in for another big baby. I had an ultrasound last week, as my stomach measurement hadn't really been growing much, so they just wanted to check that the baby was still growing. WELL, it CERTAINLY is!!! They estimated that it was already about 8lb 4oz as of LAST WEEK - 38 weeks! So imagine if I go to 41 or even 42 weeks! I guess as I have not gained any weight this whole pregnancy, that must be why my stomach measurement hadn't changed too much, probably losing some of my own belly.

I actually have a head cold at the moment, so I suppose it's a bit of a blessing in disguise that I am not in having the baby right now. Although the waiting is difficult, I would rather be healthy for the labour. I do have 3 cheeky boys to keep my days occupied, especially seeing as it's school holidays right now. But I still find myself with too much time to think about the journey ahead. So I can only imagine how hard it is for all of you gals who don't have anything BUT time on your hands. Oh well, I guess it's so close now, that realistically within 2 weeks, I SHOULD be holding my precious bundle. Can't wait! :)

92 % chance of having a girl

JUSTMOMMIES LABOUR PREDICTION QUIZ:

I know you were hoping we weren't going to say this, but don't expect this baby to come early. Your baby is nice and comfy tucked away in your womb and has no interest in joining the rest of the world. We predict your baby will be born after its due date. Your baby will most likely be born in the morning. Justmommies predicts that your baby will weigh approximately 9.3 pounds and that your labor will be about 10 hours long.

Hi there. My baby was 3 months premature, so she came home on an Apnea monitor. She will probably be off of it soon and when she does go off...I will be a nervous wreck. We did buy the Babysense monitor pads and I heard mix things about it...that it causes a lot of false alarms. Is this true? Should we return it??? I know we need something though!!!

Hey, how are you going? Just thought i'd add you after doing a totally random search for people in Melbourne or round there who were due roughly round the same time. I am due 30th of Sept but like you have been measuring bigger then that pretty much all the way through my pregnancy, but i am also carrying a fair bit of fluid so i feel as big as a house and am asked quite often if i am carrying twins (Great for the ego lol) anyway hope to hear how things are going for you

Take Care

My son will sleep for long periods of time during the night. He did this last night after I finally got him to sleep around 5:30am. He didn't wake up until around 11am. My boobs were starting to get sort because I was laying on them. That's how I can usually tell which breast I need to feed from. It's the most engorged. But you are right when they get sore and the baby is sleeping and you don't want to wake them up, it's hard to sleep yourself because your anticipating them waking up. Maybe ibuprofen will work. I notice when I take them my breast don't seem as swollen. I need to remember that the next time.

Oh my goodness that would be so neat to go into labour naturally right before you are due to have an induction. Hope it turns out that way.
