I'm Sarah, 20years old. I have alittle girl who was born on 25th October 2008. She was a very pleasent surprise for her Daddy and I. Although whilst pregnant I couldn't wait to get her out, I really did enjoy being pregnant, it was probably one of the best feelings I have ever felt, to be totally honest I do miss being pregnant.
The pregnancy and after the birth was a complete rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish - to say the lease, But this was totally expected. In all honesty I feel stronger than ever, everything I have been through has been more than worth it for my Daughter, I would do it a million times over for her.
A little bit about my pregnancy with Olivia May and our birth experience.
Olivia May was due on October 13th, but I said from the start she wouldn't want to come out on her own, and I was certainly right!!! My induction process was started when I was 11days over due (24th October). The induction went really well for me and worked straight away. Olivia May was born 25th October at 3:19am, weighing 7lb5oz 49.5cm. Every inch was and most definatly still is perfect.
Olivia's Pregnancy and Birth Details :-
Positive pregnancy test: 15th February 2008 =)
First appointment: 13th March. First scan estimated due date could not be calculated, as it was too early to tell. Everything looked healthy though.
Dating scan: 27th March Heard baby's heart beat for the first time, magical! Words can not describe the way I felt, my heart felt like it was going to explode. Baby had grown so much in two weeks.
Estimated due date: 13th October 2008
20 week scan: 30th May. Everything fine with baby, gender prediction 80%-90% sure that is a little girl. Placenta lying low have to have another scan at 36 weeks
36 week scan: 16th September. Such a long time since we saw our little one last, Placenta has moved well out of the way YAY. Asked them to check gender - Defiantly a little girl. Everything measuring fine with baby. Approximately weighs between 5lb 10 and 5lb 14! We were able to see her little button nose and chubby cheeks just can not wait to meet our little girl.
40weeks+3days: 16th October. Midwife appointment, midwife was worried because I was measuring any different from two weeks ago, bringing me under the 10th Centile line. Sent for an emergency scan. Baby is measuring small. weighs around 7lb/7lb 2oz. Placenta working fine. Sent home, have to montior movements closely.
41 weeks post dates appointment: 22nd October. Everything fine at this appointment baby measuring fine, midwife said it was probably just down to having different people measure me all the time, measuring to different places etc. Given a sweep and booked in for induction! YAY!
41 weeks 5days - 24th October. Induction started at quater to 1. Contractions has started an hour later when they told me I was allowed to walk around. By 7pm they were getting closer together, more regular and very intense. I was advised to have a bath which didn't help so I decided to take a walk outside the hospital, which seemed to help move things along quicker. They midwife offered me more painkillers but since the ones they gave me earlier in the day did nothing I refused. By 11pm they were 3-2 mins part, I was taken down to the birth centre at 12am (the hour we waited to go down, seemed to go by very quickly).
The birth centre was very chilled out and relaxed with a lot of room to walk around in, I was pretty much left to do what I wanted, baby's heart rate was checked after each contraction. I did not have any pain relief I never thought of asking for it while in labour either, I had worked my self up for sooooo much pain, as I thought the pain would get worse I was trying to wait until I couldn't bare it any more, I was focused on getting through each contraction with ease and inbetween I wasn't in much pain. I hadn't realised how far the labour had progressed as I was expecting it to be alot more painful, I know I have a high pain freshold, but I am pretty sure I was extermly lucky to be blessed with a easy labour. My water broke at 1:55am before I knew it baby's head was out and at 3:19 am our little girl arrived into this world, she was crying before her body was delivered she couldn't wait to get out haha. I really couldn't wait to hold my little girl, she is totally perfect. Everything about her pregnancy, her labour and herself is perfect. She weighed in at 7lb 5oz. She took to breast feeding really, really well.
A week after her birth she had gone down to 6lb 14oz but four days later she had put all that weight straight back on all but 1oz.
I really cant believe how time flys, Olivia is now 5months old, she has started weaning and the night of her 4month injections she just decided she no longer wanted me to feed her (she has weaned herself of the day feeds already). So she is now formula fed on Aptimal, she has been on SMA gold, but she was being very sick, I decided to change it and it stopped her being so sick. She has Breakfast and Lunch at the moment. I make all her lunch meals my self with fresh veg. she has Creamy Porridge for breakfast and loves it!!!
She is still sleeping brilliant just like she has always, she has stopped waking in the night for her dummy and sleeps right through til half 7, so time she will have a little lie in. She weighed 14lb 11oz on March 9th. She is growing up so fast and I am enjoying being a Mommy so much!!!
Good luck to everyone who is TTC.
Congratulations and good luck to everyone who is expecting!
