I'm pregnant with my second baby and due on May 27th.
i am also a type one diabetic and would appreciate hearing from anyone else who is having to deal with the joy of diabetic pregnancy.
Nov 13th - 12 week scan! It was very different to joshua's 12 week scan. when we saw Josh he was wiggling and squirming but this baby was just completly still. At first it made me a little nervous but then the sonographer told me to cough and the baby sprang into action kicking and wriggling. I had no idea the coughing had so much of an effect on your baby. Everything is healthy.
How I found out - It was our second month of trying and i was about to buy a box of hair dye (which I really needed!) and thought 'well, maybe i should get a pregnancy test first, just in case'. I really didn't expect to be pregnant so quickly, so i did the test and then went and played with my son for a couple of minutes. When i came back it was positive! I was really surprised and quite pleased that i'd decided on the test rather than the hair dye!
Jan 8th - had 20 week scan today - everything looks fine and healthy which is a relief. Didn't want to know the sex of baby though. we found out with joshua but this time we'd like a surprise.
Jan 18th - well this week has been loadsa fun! last friday i noticed joshua scratching at his neck, where i could see he had a couple of tiny pimples. Of course by saturday night he was covered from head to toe in chicken pox. I rang my midwife just to check what this meant for me and the baby as i know chicken pox can cause some problems during pregnancy, but she assured me that as long as i had had chicken pox as a child i should be immune and there shouldn't be a problem. This was a relief but unfortonately couldn't do anything to help all the sleepless nights that followed - nursing a very itchy and irratable toddler! He is feeling much better now, even though he is still covered in tiny little scabs. I have been able to feel baby kicking for just over a month now but the kicks are now much stronger and more frequent - I love it! It's one of the best things about pregnancy (until the very end when it just gets uncomfortable!)
Jan 27th - For some insane reason I decided to start potty training Joshua this week. It is deffinately a bit of a tedious and lonely experience as I have been pretty housebound most of the time while he gets the hang of it, but he is doing really well. I feel I am getting bigger but people still aren't asking me when I'm due, even though i'm 23 weeks - I have to tell people i'm pregnant and they're always surprised. By this point in my first pregnancy people thought I was ready to give birth so it is strange having to wait so long to look properly pregnant rather than just fat. I feel a lot more tired and my emotions are up and down like a yo-yo - one minute positive and happy, the next incedibly stressed, angry and full of tears. I think I remember these feelings at about the same time during my last pregnancy and that lasted for a couple of mnths before I finally started to settle down and get control of myself and my feelings. A least i am more prepared for the ups and downs this time!
Jan 31st - Feeling quite smug and pleased with myself. I have managed to potty train my son in less than a week, we haven't had an accident in the four days and for the last 2 nights he's woken up dry. I am amazed. I was terrorfied of training him as i thought it would take forever! I am so proud of him!
Feb 7th - well, what a crappy couple of days! yesterday i met my friends at playgroup and one of them said that they'd been speaking to my mother-in-law about baby names i'd chosen. apparrantly my mother in law said that my partner had other ideas about names and if i had to have another c section that my partner would register the baby on his own while i was recovering in hospital! Needless to say - i went mental. when my boyfriend got home I asked him what the f#*k he'd been saying to his mother and he denied saying anything like that. so i told him that he needed to find out why his psycho mother was saying that kind of crap to ppl. so he went up and asked her what was going on and she said it was only a joke (sooo funny!) and then burst into tears and said i was ungrateful for all the things she'd done for us when i was ill in hospital! And as usual my partner can see nothing but the blinding sun shining out of his mothers arse, the whole thing about the baby being registered without me has been pushed to the side to make room for ME being the one in the wrong by being ungrateful! ha! whatever.
feb 7th - well we have split up! he chose his mother, like i always knew he would. he said that i was being a twat and should appologise to his mother for , it would seem, being upset by her in the first place. i've had enough of it. i kicked the mummies boy out. scared of being on my own but i think it's probably worth it.
12th feb - had another scan today at 25 weeks. Everything looks fine which is good. Resisted the temptation to find out what we're having! Every time the sonographer moved over the baby to try and get a look at his/her face the little bugger put it's hand right up in front of it, so we couldn't get any decent pictures of him/her today. Baby weighs about 1lb 9oz. Charlie moved back in on sunday, we agreed to make an effort to try again considering our current circumstances and also for joshua. we'll see how it goes.
1st march - yay! ordered my pram today, should be here within 5 working days woohoo!
8th march - my pram arrived a couple of days ago! At first i couldn't get used to it as it seemed really big compared to the little buggy i've been using for joshua but now i've had some time to get used to it i love it! can't wait to put my little baby into it!
