March 6, 2008

Hello! My name is Rachel and my husband, Brennan, and I are expecting our first little one in July. We are both pretty excited! We've been married just a little over a year now (our anniversary was February 24th) and I have loved every minute of it! We had originally planned on waiting a couple of years before we got pregnant, but I think we both got the "bug" and now here we are. :) I'm a little nervous! I just hope and pray I'll be a good mommy. I know Brennan will be a great daddy so that helps a lot!

Today I am 20 weeks 2 days along. I just started feeling baby move the week before last, so that was exciting! What a strange, fluttery feeling! I've been trying to describe it to my hubby, but I don't know how you possibly can? We aren't going to be finding out what we're having, so that makes it even more exciting, to me anyways. :) We both have been hoping for a boy first (I always wanted a big brother), but we will be thrilled either way! I think it will be the coolest thing to hear "It's a -----!!" for the first time when baby comes out. I can't imagine the moment and I can't wait! :)

The first 4 1/2 months were really rough and I hated being pregnant...it was awful! But the last two weeks have been so much better! Even the fatigue has lifted and I'm starting to feel somewhat "normal" again. The biggest thing that freaks me out is gaining weight (trying to be sensible and not gain too much) and stretch marks. I'm trying to eat as healthy as I can and do everything I can so baby is born healthy. :) I'm hoping these oils I'm rubbing on my belly will help with stretch marks too...but we'll see. That's quite the controversial subject I guess! :)

Anyway, I am excited to meet anyone here! It will be fun to get to know some of you and go through pregnancy "together". I hope yours is going well! God bless!

March 14, 2008

Well, today marks nearly the end of 21 weeks already. This is going by so fast! Today was the first time I felt baby move up high and left in my belly. For the last three weeks, it has been only really low and lots of little flutters, but today it was definite. Big moves up a lot higher and left. I was kinda taken-back, it surprised me! Today I feel so good, besides being a little tired. It has been an extremely stressful week and the last few days have been awful, so I'm thankful today is Friday and I get all weekend to rest. I hope everyone is doing well!

March 19, 2008

Hello everyone! Just a little update... Before last week, I had the BEST couple of weeks being pregnant, ever! I think it was God's mercy on me because we just celebrated our anniversary with a whole week on the Oregon Coast, and I felt so good the entire time, and the week after! But last week and this week is another story... the heartburn has come back like a flood and I'm not sure if its me or if its just pregnant issues. I don't think I've changed anything I've been eating or anything! I am up to a 15 pound weight gain now at 22 weeks. I've been told its not too much for where I am, so that makes me feel better. So far I hardly show! My boobs and belly are the only thing that's changed...I'm still in all my same clothes! So I'm really not sure where 15 pounds is hiding? Anyway... The most challenging part of being pregnant right now is the constant exhaustion - like I can't even keep my eyes open. I was not expecting that, especially after those two really NICE weeks of feeling normal (and everything I've read that says that the second trimester gives you a "burst of energy")! :) It could have something to do with work, as its been extremely stressful here lately. I work for a chiropractor and we just switched from PC's to Mac's and we did a software change as well...and it has been SO MUCH work. I am so tired right now. The good thing is that it is such a better software and it wil make my life easier, once we get through the initial conversion and getting used to the system - and getting all the information in it like we need it. I don't know how I've made it so far, but I remind myself to just take it one day at a time. God is so good to us! Yesterday I went to a friend of mine's sister's house who is getting rid of a ton of baby stuff and I was able to buy all kinds of things for really cheap! I actually felt horrible writing her a check for so cheap, but it was really all she wanted! I got a bassinet, a swing, a huge bouncer chair, lots of cloth diapers and diaper-covers, bottles, clothes, a diaper bag, and much more, all for like $60! And my husband's sister is sending me a TON of stuff that she is done with, including a European stroller! Whatever that is! :) Another friend of mine is giving us her crib and changing table and tons of boy clothes. Another sis-in-law gave me all her baby's girl clothes!! So we're set whether we have a boy or a girl. Its just so awesome to watch God provide. Up until a week ago, we had nothing and we're just "getting by" financially right now, so there hasn't been much left over...so I've been praying for the last couple of months that God would provide for us. And wow, does He ever provide!! Really, He is able to do "exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ever ask or think...." Thank you Lord! I hope you all are doing well. Thank you to everyone who has dropped me notes here. It has been fun to get to know you! God bless. :)

March 26, 2008

Hello everyone! Nothing new really to report this week. I can't believe that Monday will mark the end of 24 weeks! This pregnancy has gone by really quickly so far. Yesterday I finally broke down and went and got some clothes...I'd had friends give me a bunch of maternity clothes, but I'm not showing enough to need them yet. I'd try them on and it would look like a huge sack on me! So far I have made it in all my regular clothes, with one of those belly bands to help hold my jeans up since I can't wear a belt. Its really nice that my jeans are still fitting nicely! I've always worn low-rise anyway, so they may last for awhile, hopefully! Anyway I went to Fashion Bug yesterday and found the CUTEST clothes and they were having a 60% off sale! I got a bunch of empire waist shirts that will grow with me (they're not maternity per se) and probably last throughout the rest of the pregnancy, and the most I spent was $16.00 for a shirt. The rest of them were around $6.99 up to $9.99! It was a great buy! I'm so happy - now I actually have something to wear. I'm just in that "in-between' stage I guess. Anybody else feel like that?

Yesterday felt like spring! The sun was out and shining so bright...and I was stuck inside working. I was able to get out and enjoy the fresh air a little bit yesterday evening, and I even got a really good workout in! That felt really good. I've been able to exercise more in the last week so that has definitely felt good. This morning I woke up at 4am with my hips and low back aching though! I didn't want to take anything for it - I hate drugs...so I suffered through it. A pillow between my legs didn't even help. It was bad. I hope this doesn't continue!

Anyways...as you can tell, not much to report. I hope everyone is doing well! I'm excited for baby to get here...and I know I've got a long ways yet! Well...God bless you all! :)

APRIL 16, 2008

Wow, its been a little while since I've posted anything here! I guess I've just been really busy and I haven't really been surfing around here very much either! I hope everyone is doing well. Today marks 26 weeks 2 days and I can hardly believe it! Its going by so fast. I remember holding my breath through the whole first trimester, hoping I would keep this baby, and now here it is, almost the end of the second!

I am doing really well...the biggest pregnancy "blah" has been the constant exhaustion. I am SO tired, all the time! This is amazing. No matter how much sleep I get, I am just beat. I hope this goes away! I never got the "energy rush" that a lot of moms talk about during the second trimester. Bummer. Other than that, I'm having to really watch my blood sugar. I was hypoglycemic before becomming pregnant and it seems to have really increased tenfold! Four hours after a meal the other day, and my blood sugar was down to 51. Not good. Its been a struggle trying to figure out what to eat and what not to eat to keep my levels more constant, but I think I'm gaining some ground.

We've been going to Bradley childbirth classes (tonight is our fourth class I believe) and it has been so fun and informative!! I have to keep track of everything I eat and I turn it in every week. That has been amazing for accountability! I didn't realize I eat so well until I actually wrote it down...and it definitely helped me stop worrying about my weight, because I am definitely NOT eating too much! I am being so good! So the 12 - 15 pounds I've put on so far are good. :)

My hubby is still sooo excited for baby to get here. I feel so blessed to have that! I know some women don't have that - and a close girlfriend of mine never had that excited support from her husband...and I am so grateful for him! God definitely blessed me beyond all my wildest imagination when he gave me Brennan. He brought me a decaf granita last week at work, with a little card, and it was so precious...he wrote, "P.S. I can't wait to be a daddy and I know you are going to be a great mommy!" That made my day. :)

God bless you all!

Hi, Yes I know of babywise and I did the full course before having our first baby. I didn't mention it in my blog because some people immediately put up a barrier when they hear the name even though they don't know much about it. I have found it great but I cannot stress enough that yo do need to keep flexible with it or you can put too much pressure on your self. All the best.

britbabybelly - Friday, 9 May
thank you! i know it will be worth it once we hold our babies for the first time! i cant wait!!!

rachmarie - Wednesday, 7 May
Hi hi!
So how was your appointment? Did you find anything out regarding diabetes? I too am very glad that I passed my glucose test...I definitely wasnt looking forward to the possibility to having to diet while I am pregnant! NO FUN!
I have gained 18 pounds now, and am still feeling good. I was wishing for my old jeans yesterday though...haha
So you have never been to Estes eh? Wow, you will have to make a trip there someday! Its absolutely lovely! I miss the mountains and the fresh air for sure...
Yep, as far as I can tell, my mom is having the time of her life in the Holy Land. I was also able to visit Israel in 2003 and it was a wonderful experience. I went with my dad and we spent time with relatives and friends for 3 weeks.
My brother is here visiting me for another 2 days, which is great! We have been having a blast! He is a trip!
Wow, we are getting SO close, Rach! Arent you excited! Our babies are almost here!!
Oh and I forgot to ask you...are you having a hospital or home birth? What about and epidural...what are your thoughts on those?
Anyway, I a going to run and finish up the laundry, so I will talk to you soon ok??
In Him,
Rach

Hey!
I am back home now...just got back from Colorado last night. My family lives in Estes Park...its lovely! My little brother came with me too. My mom is in Israel, and since he is homeschooled, I am taking over in that area for the next couple weeks while she is away! haha
I went to the doc today and took the glucose test...its not bad at all. Just tastes like orange soda.
My mom threw a shower for me and that was a LOT of fun!
I got bunches of baby things! too cute!
Yea, I am still kinda small for being 7 months along too...
People give me the same "are you sure you are due in July?" looks that I bet you get!
Passover was really good! My mom was really sick that night, so I ended up making the whole passover meal..which was a first for me, but was really fun! However, I prayed over her before the meal began and she immediately felt better and was able to eat with us! God is good!
I DO have AIM too...I am not on very often, but when I am I will look you up :)

lilmomzy - Thursday, 24 April
I gained like 7 pounds in 2 days...It seemed like it took a while for me to start gaining weight but once I started gaining I just didnt stop. I feel like my stomach grew overnight and just keeps getting bigger!

august20 - Sunday, 20 April
Hi, I am 22 weeks with twin boys. I was just reading your comment from 24 weeks. Somehow I thought the entire time that there was 2 in there even though there aren't twins in the family. I had the same question as you. I heard 2 heartbeats with my GP, and when I asked about it he just claimed that you can hear the heartbeat in different locations and it is stronger in different areas. I felt movement very early on, and could feel it in 2 different locations in the belly simulatenously. Did you have a maternal serum test done? The high 'positive' results was the first indication to the dr that there was something up... so I was sent for an U/S right away. You should get an U/S, if there are 2 your lifestyle, diet, and medical care should change. Best of luck!

rachmarie - Sunday, 20 April
Hi Rachel! (nice name by the way ;))
Sorry I took so long to get back to ya, I am actually in Colorado now visiting my family over Passover. My hubby is gone for a few weeks with the marine corps, so I decided to take a trip too!
We live in Georgia at the moment...we will be here until August, which is when Mark gets out of the military...
After that, we have NO idea where God is going to take us. Its really exciting to be able to just trust Him in everything. Definitely an adventure!
Yep, we are having a baby girl! (although I have had about 10 dreams now, that the baby is a boy...sooo....)
My mom is throwing me a baby shower next week and I am really excited! I'm so happy for you and your man too! Your baby will be so blessed to have you as parents!
How are things with you and the bub this week? Are you growing lots? I feel like I get bigger everyday haha!
Yes, lets definitely keep in touch! I'd love it!
Do you have MSN?
I will talk to you soon!

rachmarie - Wednesday, 16 April

hanukkah - Sunday, 6 April
Hi and congratulations! Looks like our little ones will be close in age. I thought about a birthing center since this is my first child but figure the hospital is only minutes away from home anyways in case I or the baby need to be transported (I try not to worry about that happening though). I can't believe you are just now getting into maternity clothes - lucky you! But at the same time I bet you're excited to finally start showing huh? I know I was. I am 24 weeks as of yesterday and can't believe how fast time is flying by! I'm really enjoying being pregnant but am also looking forwarding to the birth and meeting my new baby. Hope you continue to do well - take care.

Thanks!
How is your pregnancy going so far?
You should post some belly pics! :)

BabyLove723 - Friday, 4 April
Congrats to you too! I am so glad to have finally joined this site and to be able to connect with other girls who are having babies at the same time as me! I know that everyone says every pregnancy is different, but it is still fun to compare notes. I have just started showing over the past few weeks. I have gained about 10 pounds so far (I think?) but I have my next appointment next Wednesday so I will find out for sure then. I am also only 5'2 so I think my little guy started running out of room. I am going to try to put some pictures up as soon as I figure out this site. I feel like my tummy literally popped out overnight, so it could be any day. I hope that you are doing well. Keep in touch!!

andante - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Thank you for your note. I was SHOCKED to see how many people had responded. It's good to know that the antibiotics won't hurt the little one. Best wishes for you and your new family!

blessedmom2b - Friday, 21 Mar
Yeah! I know what you mean about feeling the baby low for a while now and then all of the sudden it is up high or higher, at least. That happened to me last week. We are having a sweet little baby BOY! Found out on monday and everything is healthy so we are just so thankful to God! our little one is kicking down low again..he has a mind of his own! Hope you have a great weekend:)

mama2b2 - Thursday, 20 Mar
Congrats on your pregnancy!! Hope everything is going well!

421honeymoonbaby - Tuesday, 18 Mar
hello=) yeah it was hard for me to accept that i was pregnant for a long time. I know that i was being selfish, but like selfishness, i didnt care. I didnt really feel ready, but God knew it was going to happen...and well after i learned that he gives us kids as 'gifts' like hes pleased with you...i looked at it differently. I wouldnt give her back =) shes sooo amazing, and you wont believe that he/she came from you=) I cant believe that God actually trusts us with her soul=) I hope i will be able to share Gods heart with her. It has definetly grown us spiritually! God takes his little ones seriously and i know that my husband and I will answer for the way we raise her! so i hope it pleases Him. Its also up to God if He gives us anymore...i mean my flesh doesnt want anymore, but he may have other plans. Because of that conviction..i stay away from birthcontrol. So we shall see....=) Btw..you'll be a great mom! dont let the enemey of our soul tell you different. I had all of these worries and just holding her and loving and cuddling her..wow its so awesome! are you going to breastfeed?

1st-time-mommy2b - Tuesday, 18 Mar

Hi i put on a lot of weight with my first pregnancy, i went from a uk size 10 to a uk size 16, but to my utter amazement i've actually lost 2lbs during this pregnancy. I didn't lose any weight when i was dieting before i got pregnant! Your due the day before, I've joined a wonderful new site that i recommend if you haven't joined already. It's for women that are due this summer, http://summerbabies2008.ning.com, Look me up, My name is Naomi.

ALN - Saturday, 15 Mar
Hey there!!! Gaining weight is scary put if you are 20 weeks or so and have only gained 15 pounds your doing great. Just remember your baby is getting bigger that is probably where most of the weight is coming from. :)Congratulations mommy to be
