Birth Story

I woke up monday morning with mild cramping but didn`t really think much of it ( had a lot of cramping and BH crantractions in the past 2 weeks) and the day went on I started to have quite regular contractions but still wasn`t really sure if this was it cuz i was in much pain just disconfort. By around 5 i noticed the contractions really starting to hurt when i was standing.... so i tried pacing around and going for little walks to speed things up. By 6 we relized that i was contracting about every 3 mins so thought well maybe i should go get checked out, but i was sure i would be sent home!!! When we got there I was only 2 cm, and they told me i could go home if i would be more comfortable there..... but I was`t wasn`t... every contrations came on stronger and faster... but it seemed like the nurses all thought i was nutts and just let me sit there wimpering.... I fel like such a baby.... by 9 ish (don`t remeber the timings much) I was crying with pain and started to dry heave like crazy... that really kick things into gear the and they decided to check me again i was now 3-4 cm and the nurse ended breaking my water when she did so... and thats when we discover that the baby had passed meconium and the doc was really worried seeing as i was only 38 weeks... so he said he was not leaving until the baby born.... thats when i got the epidural..... thank GOD it rocked!!! but shortly there after the babies heart rate started droping with every contractions so the doc decided that was it and it was time to get the baby out NOW!!! so within half an hour i was downstairs getting a c section... it was really scary just cuz there was sooooooo many doctors there just waiting to attend to the baby in distress and my ob looked prettty nervous himself......but at 11 38 he was finally here!!! he was crying before they even got him all the way outta me!!! it was the most amazing experience EVER!!!! it all happened sooooooooo fast and now my bundle of joy is here!!! i`m loving every minute of it :)

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

I don't rock Adisten to sleep at all. After a few weeks I just tried putting her in her crib awake still and now she puts herself to sleep. I don't think they outgrow it though. I nannied for a 2.5 year old that still needed to be rocked to sleep. Let me tell you, it was really annoying! I was finally able to get her to put herself to sleep put her mom still had to rock her at almost 3! I would do some research on how to get them to self soothe themselves to sleep. Good luck!

Just wanted to see how you are doing and let you know that I found this nice little shop called milkface for nursing mothers. It has clothes, bras, many different types of slings, pump rental etc. They even have a spot for nursing etc and the people working there were fabulous. In case it interests you, it is basically behind MEC, in a little house. They also have a website milkface.com. I was really happy to have found it so I thought I would pass it along! Take care!

Hi there my citymate! Not many from the Nation's Capital here...I don't really know about the link between dilatation and loosing your plug. I lost mine Sunday/Monday but I have no idea if I am dilated or not as my doc has not checked...But you can go from nothing to 1-2-3 or more cm pretty quickly...In any case, loosing your plug is a sure sign something is happening so cheers! I should add you to my friendsnetwork as all my friends have gone early...Whatever works right? Take care!

I find a change of location helps me fall back to sleep. My couch is really comfy and I can lean against the back of it, it takes a lot of the weight off. I also have one of those big pillows and that helps so much.
I hope you find something that helps you sleep. All the best!

Hey....I'm one of the lucky few who NORMALLY (except last night) sleep solidly through out the night. Things that seem to help.....I use a wedge pillow to support my belly so it's not pulling to the side....it's also at an angle so I can rest my knee on it....My head and neck are properly support with an ergonomically correct memory foam pillow (it takes a couple of nights to adjust to but definitely worth is in the long run) I also keep a bottle of water by my bed so that if i do wake up a bit i just take a sip and go right back to sleep. I keep my over head fan on so that I don't over heat....and the number one thing is i don't think of anything but sleep once i'm laying in bed. focus on breathing deeply and just say good night to Cole...and that's it......If I find my thoughts wavering...I focus again on how soft my pillow is...how comfy my bed is....and i usually sleep soundly throughout the night....Hope this helps......

I wish I had advice for you on how to sleep but I dont!! THats how it is though, when prego we just dont sleep. Try warm milk and a hot bath. Dont watch TV in bed befor eyou go to sleep. Read a book. All the simple thing to help with insomnia. With me I dont fall asleep no matter how tired I am. I am awak and tossing and turning with pains everywhere and dosing on and off for 5-10 minutes at a time then finally fall asleep around 3am and wake up an hour later, fall asleep wake up 2 hours later and fall asleep and have to get up with the kids an hour later. It sucks and I am always SO TIRED!

I am going to start prenatal yoga today to see if that helps with any pains that are keeping me awake, give it a try! I will let you know how it goes!

I took claritin with my first pregnancy and this pregnancy they have me on Zyrtec. Both are over the counter and considered safe. If you choose to take Zyrtec take it before you go to bed because it is not non drowsy. Zyrtec works better than the claritin in my opnion.

rachmarie - Monday, 12 May
My doc told me to take claratin or benedryl.
so far they have worked for me

rhonnott - Monday, 12 May
My Dr told me to take Claritin for allergies. I take it on days I know the pollen is going to be bad but try not to take it daily.
