Found out I was pregnant today :) We weren't trying, but we weren't not trying. On October 10th, 2007 I had a miscarriage and afterwards I got on birth control. I stopped taking it in December because it was making my heart race. So after that my husband and I were nonchalant about being pregnant... I wanted to give myself a few months to physically and emotionally recover. By February I was feeling a little more on the happy side (I have depression & anxiety and was feeling down after the miscarriage) and I was sort of hoping I would become pregnant. I started to feel down again the first few weeks of march so my dr put me on Prozac. Well on March 31st I bought a first response preg. test. After I used it, I covered it up with a shirt so I couldn't see it. My huband and I waited there looking at each other nervously for 3 minutes then uncovered the shirt to reveal it said positive. My husband was like, "oh boy, here we go" and was all happy and giggly. I was shaking and couldn't believe it. So for the next few days I walked around the house saying "I'm pregnant, I'm pregnant!! I can't believe it!" So i quit taking Prozac to eliminate all risks, and I quit smoking and drinking. I wasn't really drinking very much at all that month for some reason... I think it was the Prozac. Anyway, my good feeling that came with Prozac stayed and I was absolutely psyched at being pregnant again. But I was also worried and nervous and hoping that this one would turn out better.
About a week later I told my mom and dad.. who rolled their eyes and scoffed but also smiled. "oh boy, she's never going to finish school now." (i had quit because of the emotional downfall my miscarriage had caused me.... and in January I started going again.) I think sometime around the 8th of April I went to my family Dr who confirmed the pregnancy and put me on Precare Chewables. (These are awesome prenatals by the way, I've been taking them every day since)

So I was taking a bath today and sort of flipped out because I saw a reddish string of tissue floating in the water. It looked just like the kind of discharge I had before I miscarried. After panicking and crying my mom brought me to the hospital and they did an ultrasound and told me the baby was fine. I was so incredibly relieved when I heard the tech say she saw a heartbeat.

My first Dr apt! I was unaware that you couldn't hear the baby's heartbeat on a dopplar yet, and when the dr said "hmm... can't hear one. we'll have to do an ultrasound." I was immediately worried and started doubting the baby was still ok. He did the ultrasound and said everything was fine, heartbeat was at 163. Again, my relief swept over me. But I was also sad at how I hadn't been able to get a printout for my husband to see. I got super excited and felt really special because unlike last time my Dr gave me a bag of magazines and a cool pregnancy journal and some samples.

Felt the first movement today! Whoever says anything you feel before 18 weeks is gas? This was not gas! It felt like a pop of popcorn. I was sitting at the computer when I felt it.

I was laying in bed feeling the baby move and enjoying it, and so I decided to look down at my belly and I actually saw it move!!! I was so weirded out and excited that I woke my husband up, (it was 5 in the morning) and made him sit there sleepily and watch until something happened again. Nothing did... not that time at least.
July 9th, 2008 ~ 19 Weeks 1 Day

My big ultrasound was today! The ultrasound tech said my baby definatly had girl parts and that she weighed 8 ounces! I was so happy it was just what I wanted!! It was so fun to tell my husband when he got home from work!

I can't believe I have made it this far! My baby's name is Audrey Autumn. I feel so connected to her. She has a huge personality for a little bittie body. She kicks a bunch and plays games (i poke you kick) with me and my husband. Finally my mom and my friends have gotten to see the baby move a few times. My sister lives in Japan for the time being and hates it that she can't be here for my pregnancy until Christmas, which is after Audrey will be born. So I was able to take a video the other day of Audrey hopping around in my belly for her. I have dialup internet though so I haven't yet figured out how to send it to her. I'm feeling great about being pregnant though. I cannot wait til December! I've had heartburn, Braxton-Hicks, insomnia, and a touch of anxiety. My back also is killing me but everything is so worth the trouble. My belly is actually getting huge! And yesterday morning I noticed I have stretch marks on my boobs... O.o
happy pregnancy everyone! = D & thanks for the sweet comments!

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.
We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.
If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

Thursday, 28 August Wow, really? I was just in Shreveport. I am about an hour away from there. Cool. Wow, your mom does oil paints? Yeah, waiting for them to dry is a pain. If I do one it is impasto in one sitting that way I don't have to. I am not a layering type of gal, haha! AshleyD -
