My profile

Hello everyone! My name is Shelly, 35, and I am going to be a first time mom. My husband and I were married in May 2007. I wanted to wait a few months before getting pregnant because I wanted to make sure the two of us could live together first! LOL. As soon as we started to try, we got pregnant right away. I wasn't too prepared for that. I really thought it would take a few months, and I really didn't want to be super pregnant over the summer months, but I suppose that is why we have air conditioning and/or central air, and flip flops for swollen feet. At least I will get to wear some cute summer dresses too! So far so good with this pregnancy. I have only had 2 doctors appts, and heard the baby's heartbeat once. Our ultra sound isn't scheduled until 04/21. I do not want to know the sex of our baby. I want to be surprised! My husband desperately wants to know, but my body, and I win.

hey i saw on one of your comments that you said you worked from home. if you don't mind me asking what do you do? my husband and i have been tossing that idea around for awhile now yet i haven't found anything that i feel is legit.

kammysmom - Monday, 9 June
Thanks for the response earlier I need all the help I can get I am a first timer and even tho I have read a ton of prego books some of this stuff just isn't in them ya know! I see you just recently had your sugar test how did you do?? I have mine tomorrow morning and I am not looking forward to it at all! I sure hope I pass it the first time I do not want the 3 hr test!! Yikes!

m0th3r2b - Saturday, 31 May
Ah yes it's making more sense now. My OB gave me the sheet of paper to schedule me for a glucose screening and I asked more questions. He mentioned you only do the 3 hr test if you fail ...I hope I pass too ! All the best to you and thanks for your response. Seems there's so much to know and learn during pregnancy and this glucose screening thing I wasn't totally infomed about. Good luck and hopefully no 3 hour screening for either of us!

Hi Shelly, good luck with your test Monday. You know all day I tried not to eat anything bad. I think I ate strawberries and grapes in the morning or something... and then I was starving by the time my appt. came around so like an hour before I had some walnuts... I thought I was doing pretty good lol, guess not. For Monday though I am going to do what you said, stick to protein and veggies!! Thanks for your advice! Let me know how yours turns out!

m0th3r2b - Friday, 30 May
Hey there just peekin in from week 24 and the latest topic seems to be the glucose test. I'm still finding out new information about it and I read that it's 3 hours??? I'm trying to picture this..sitting there consuming crappy orange drink for 3 hours. Then they make you pee or something? Maybe I should look it up

RASL30 - Friday, 30 May
Shelly, I too am having my glucose test on the 2nd! I plan to eat a breakfast w/ lots of protein, as it will help stabilize my sugars, and I will be more likely to pass the test (as well as feel better as the sugar high comes down) than if I eat something carb or sugary. I will probably have eggs & milk!
Good luck!!!!

Thank You so much Shelly! I am definately headed to the pharmacy today, its so irritating to live with this! haha

Hi Shelly,
If you have heartburn and want to try something more natural then you should try papaya tablets. They sell them at most health food stores and they get rid of heartburn. They also taste great! If you have acid reflux (burning in your throat) then vinegar is the key to get rid of that. Try vinegar dressing on salad or eat vinegar and salt chips...you will be amazed at how fast it will go away. Take care and hope this helps a lilttle :)

Hey! I do know that you can take zantac 75 while preggo, i take it all the time and it works great...hope that helps ya!

ilyrpz143ilyenz - Thursday, 15 May
Prilosec is a class C drug for use in pregnancy. I take ranitidine That is a class B drug safe for use in pregnancy. I used it while pregnant with my last child and he turned out fine and I am using it this time and I'm using on this kid! Thanks Elena

That is good news! Yeah they put me on pelvic rest and I wasn't too thrilled about it... I go back next month for another ultrasound to see if it has moved yet or not. They said it wasn't on the cervix (previa) but right above the cervix so they are keeping an eye on it and being cautious. I am so nervous but hearing that your cousin's fixed itself gives me hope! Thank you for your response!

Thanks for the comment back on the rash...I tried the Lamisol and it did in fact work quite well! Someone told me it was the beginning of my stretch marks and I almost had a heart attack considering I barely look pregnant yet...haha...but it apparently was not:) Thank you! Good luck with everything in the future!:)

It is very common for women to get yeast infections during pregnancy got one with my first so maybe you should go to the Dr. befor it gets bad. All they do is prescribe a cream and tell you that you can't have sex for a few days (or weeks whatever you prefer lol)

suzanne - Wednesday, 23 April
Shelly I was at the doctors yesterday getting canesten cream and that horrible tablet that you have to insert. I done it last night and so far ive not had any itching today. I would reccomend going sooner rather than later because i had itching for about 6 weeks and kept thinking it would go away but it never did...until now! xx

bethanne - Wednesday, 23 April
Thanks... I have had a lot of fun with the nursery. I think I really wanted to start working on it around 24 weeks, I wanted to have plenty of time and I wanted it finished by June. Decoration mode will soon kick in : ).

So are you feeling much movement, I remember how exciting those first couple of weeks of really feeling the baby kick were.

lizzieandnathan08 - Tuesday, 22 April
thank you for stopping by my page...I been feeling great and no more fainting spells, thank god!!! I'm sure you'll be able to find out the sex next time; however, If it's hiding and difficult to see more than likely it's a girl :) They are hard to see and are always hiding.

victoriasmommy143 - Tuesday, 22 April
Thank you very much. I will definetly try the lamisol.

whatwillitbe - Tuesday, 22 April
thank you...i should write them down because i can never remember what i want to say when i get in there!

bethanne - Monday, 21 April
Congrats on the baby! I know exactly what you mean about getting pregnant so quickly! We thought it would take at least 2-3 months for my body to even regulate after the pill and then who knows how long to conceive. NOT TRUE! they are saying I conceived within 2 weeks of being off birth control, we were both SHOCKED! It's like you know it could happen but never in a million years expected it to happen so fast!

lizzieandnathan08 - Friday, 4 April
Hi Shelly,

Well good luck on your upcoming appointment. According to the chinese calendar i was suppost to have a girl apparently it was wrong. It seems to be that everyone in due around this time is having boys. It must be nice not to know the gender but then again we are always eager to find out earlier. Now, we can keep in touch and ask each other questions and see who delivers first. How exciting?
