Hi, my name is Sherree and I'm 5 weeks pregnant. We found out that we are pregnant on the 4th of July on a family vacation to Hot Springs Arkansas. My due date is March 05 2008. What’s so funny is me and my daughters birthday is in February and i just know this baby will be born in February too. What a wonderful birthday present it will be again. Years ago I was diagnosed with secondary infertility due to having sever endometriosis, ovarian cyst and multiple miscarriages after the birth of my daughter. So far this pregnancy is going well. Me and my husband have been trying for so long that it came as a shock some what when we found out. In the beginning of June we had our fist consultation appt with a fertility specialist at the University of San Diego. The doctor said my ovaries looked fine and that I was ovulating or so seemed. He said I had some fluid showing up in the ultrasound that was in my tubes.....hence now I’m pregnant. I'm happy I got pregnant the old fashion way.

6 weeks and 1 day:

As soon as we came back from Arkansas I took a trip to the fertility Dr’s office. They did an urine test , blood work then a ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. I got to see the baby and the heart beat was 120bpm. I will have to start going every week to the dr’s because I am a high risk. I will be going to the University of San Diego and to Balboa for 3 months.

Emergency room visit

Whent to the emergency room because I was having a lot of back pain. I work at a Chiropractic office and the adjustments where helping me but for some reason tonight its really bad. Got to Balboa (Naval Medical Hospital San Diego) and they took me right away. The ER Dr. did a general history on me and also did testing everything came out fine. He did a pap test too and I like to flew out of the damn bed in pain. They had to use a child’s device to do the test. I was crying the hole time. 1 year ago at another Dr.s visit the same thing happened. They wanted to send me to a specialist because the Dr.s said it was abnormal. I am wondering what is going on to make this so abnormal. Paps, have always been uncomfortable but never painful. The Dr in the ER could not figure out either what was going on. I was not bleeding but I was in a lot of pain. So he issued a ultrasound to be done to see if the baby was ok……if everything was fine then he would send me home, but I would have to see my specialist right away.

7 weeks and 0 days:

2nd Dr’s appt so exciting! I get to see my baby again. Hopefully everything is developing fine. I am still in a lot of pain with my lower back ( sacrum area) I hope I get news today on what’s going on. Today I go to the University of San Diego for my check up and follow up from Balboa. The baby’s heart went up to 147bpm and grew a lot. I'm so happy the Doc.s are keeping a close eye on the baby to make sure everything is going well. They said since there is a strong heart beat and the baby is developing fine that my chances of miscarriage are very slim and the odds are now at 5%. During the ultrasound I told the Dr about my back and how I had to go to the emergency room for it because I was afraid that something bad was happening. The dr found on the ultrasound that my uterus was tipped back and turned ,transverse position. He said it was due to the my past history and that everything would be fine. Not to worry that it should pop out at 12 weeks. All my other miscarriages I lost very early on and there was one where there was no heart beat at 7 weeks but the baby was 6 weeks. I get another ultrasound this Tues. the 24th and one next Tues. on the 31st of July. Every week is a miracle that I’m still pregnant. My symptoms have been normal. I did not event have any symptoms with my daughter, but with this one I am. I get nauseated every now and then, my hunger comes and goes. My breast get sore every now and then and I get gas pains allot along with bloating. I do cramp and have a lot of low sacroiliac joint pain. Oh yeah…. I already have a baby bump too! I love being pregnant i can not wait to go and buy baby stuff and maternity clothes. things have changed through the years since I had my daughter 9 years ago. I will try and keep a journal of things as things progress.......congrats to all the ladies who are pregnant along with me!!!!!!!!!!!

Aug 2008

9 weeks:

Everything is still going fine had another ultrasound, the baby's heart rate was 163bpm. I was able to see a better pic of the little one. I have a lot of back acks and I suffer from an upset stomach but till have not thrown up yet. I don't have that much of an appetite and my breast have started to fell better. We are very excited that things are still looking good.

12 weeks:

Emergency Room

I woke up early in the morning and I was freezing. We have no air conditioner in base housing yet so it was wired to wake up so cold. The bed was wet and I checked and found it was only sweat. My back was pounding so hard it hurt to get up. I had to go to the bath room and it was hard to walk. When I went to urinate it was hard to empty my bladder fully without having to move in different positions to do it. Having a bowel movement was also very painful. I have irritable bowel syndrome so it makes it even harder for me to go poop, but this was out of the ordinary. I took my temp and found I had a high fever. I called up the OB nurse at balboa an she told me to go to the ER right away that I might be having a kidney infection. So, I called my husband up and told him and he was at the house in a flash.wait there a long time but I was able to get in very quickly.

During Surgery

Got to the ER at Balboa and there was a room full of people there. I was expecting to while I was in the back it took 8 hours for them to examine me. I was so sick and in so much pain that it was just unbearable at times. I does in and out of sleep tell 8 hours latter when I woke up nauseated and in horrible pain. My husband helped me to the bathroom where I through up for the first time. I was throwing up and crying and peeing on myself all at the same time. The nurse came in to check on me because they said they could here me down the hall. My husband told them good maybe we could get some help and see what’s going on with my wife. Anyway they helped me back to my room and I was left there again. Finally I sat up from the bed and turned in a downward dog position to help relieve the pressure and pain. My husband said what’s wrong you need to lay down I told him I can’t take this anymore get them damn nurses and Dr’s in here. So my husband went and got them. Finally I saw the ER Dr. who was different then the last one I saw a few weeks back. This one I do not think he new what he was doing. He said well your urine when you first came in was fine so I don’t think you have an infection. We will draw your blood to see if anything shows up but I think you are just suffering from regular pregnancy symptoms. I said what? You have not even ran test on me how can you say that. He said well the nurse is going to come in and do it as soon as he can. I will call up your GYN/OB to check on your pregnancy. As I was laying there the doctor asked if I had any questions…..I said YES!!!!! I told him about my pregnancy and my past problems I told him that on my last dr visit they said my uterus was transverse and that is why my back hurts a lot. He said well I think you are fine but we will get you checked out anyway. I was so made I could scream. Finally the GYN/OB Dr came in and found me crying my eyes out in pain. My husband was trying to console me and was piss at the ER DR. The GYN/OB Dr asked me what’s going on and I told him and he said and you have not had any help for this yet and I said no and he said wait I will get things rolling. Finally I had pain meds and test here being done. My blood work came out fine. So the last thing to do was get an ultrasound done to see what was going on. And the GYN/OB DR found it! It was my uterus it was stuck on my colon and the baby was being squished from it because my uterus was pulled so far back. The Dr wanted to do a pap and I told him how painful it was. He said well I need to feel everything I need to check on your cervix. He said we will medicate you so you will be numb so I can check you. He said I may be able to pop your uterus out with out you having to have surgery. So he tried and it did not work. Off to surgery I go………………………….. While everyone was being called for the OR. I was sent to the surgery waiting room. I was so scared and so scared for the baby. Poor little thing all squashed up no wonder my back was hurting me so much. Since I did not know what to expect from all of this I told my husband that If anything should go wrong tell them do not give me a hysterectomy and do not let them take this baby. He said OK! The OR staff came in my room along with the anesthesiologist to tell me about the procedure that they where going to do on me and to see if I had any questions. I told them what I told my husband and they said not to worry this is a minor procedure they would be doing. They where going to make a small incision and go in with a scope and tools like a laparoscopy and check to see all what is stuck and un stick it then they will put a device in my vagina to hold up my uterus. They would give me a spinal block so I could be awake for it and also so I would don’t feel any pain. The Anesthesiologist said that Epidurals only take the edge and they would have to give me more pain meds with it so I could be numb but it was not 100%. He said Spinal blocks are really good and I would not feel a thing with it and the numbing part acts like a pain med so they would not have to give me so much narcotics’ for pain. I have never had a spinal block before so I was scared for it but was happy that I would not feel anything during the operation. While I was in the OR they gave me the Spinal and I only felt a little bit of pain at first before they put it in but that was from the numbing meds then it was jsut pressure afterwards. I throw up and then layed down on the table. The operation only took 30 minutes. My uterus was stuck to my colon and my cervix was pressed up against my bladder. Also the endometriosis adhesions was to blame for all of this that is what was also making my colon get stuck to my sacrum. Wow no wonder. Anyway everything went great and they did a ultrasound right after and the baby was jumping and kicking and flipping around they were all laughing about it. I was so relieved everything was fine.

After

I was in the Hospital for 5 days. I was still having some fever and my red blood cell count was low and they wanted to monitor it and find out what was going on. They finally figured that the fever was my body letting me know that something was going on and the low red blood count was from theme pulling everything out and putting it into place. Besides that I was doing fine. I got to be sent home on a Friday. I had to be on bed rest for a month. I had to have the implant in for 2 weeks so everything could heal. I would get my check up at 15 weeks or so.

SEPT. 2007

The heart rate is at 160bpm. I am finally going in for my check up and to get another ultrasound done to check on the baby and to see the sex of the baby if we can. My husband is getting ready to leave for WTI in Yuma Az and he will be gone for a month and he will miss out on the big ultrasound with the radiologist. So everything looks great, baby is getting so big the heart rate is great but still can not see the sex of the baby. The ultrasound machine in the Doc's office is old and out dated,.....that's Balboa Clinic for ya. Anyway everything else was great but we just could not find out the sex yet. all well I guess I will have to call my hubby on the cell phone when i get the ultrasound done with the radiologist. I am now free to walk around and get out of bed...no more having to stay in bed. I just have to take it easy and watch what i do. No heavy lifting, no stress and if start to get braxton hicks then i need to site and rest especially if i get them more then 3 times in one hour. My uterus is week and not very strong so i have to be very careful in what i do.

15 weeks and 6 daysI just felt the baby kick for the first time. Oh what a feeling. I thought i would feel flutters first like i did with my daughter. They were little ticking butterfly movements in my belly then they gradually got stronger. With this one there is no butterfly feelings they where automatic kicks. I could not believe it. My husband and our daughter were able to feel them too it was awesome.

The big Ultrasound

I get my big ultrasound done today...............yeah! I am so excited about it I can not wait. I made the appointment for 9:00am as soon as thy opened so as soon as i i drop off my daughter for school....off i will go. I have to drink a 32 once glass of water starting 1 hr before the ultrasound. The ultrasound went great it was so much fun. The office i went to is in Poway, the same office we sent our patience from my work place. I had been there before and have meet the people there on a tour one time so it was nice. The ultrasound took an hour and they let me pee 30 minutes into it. The baby was so cute. twisting and turning, kicking and crying, sucking thumb, wiping eyes, waving, you name it everything. The baby was very shy in showing the privates so i had to wait tell almost the end to find out. The ultrasound tech told me that she believed she knew what the baby is but needed more poof to find out for sure. She said i would not go home tell we find out. Finally after poking and proding me do get the baby to move we finally saw. ITS A BABY BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!

I called my husband up first thing and told him the good news. We have wanted a boy for years now. He was so excited about it he said i he new all along it was a boy. I had a feeling too but i was not sure. Finally my family will be complete.

Got a call from the Dr's office:

The Dr's office said that the baby looked great but they needed to get me scheduled for a c-section in Feb. My due dates are right on. I am due March 5th, but they said with my uterus the way it is and after having so many abdominal surgeries I have a lot of scare tissue and they are scared that it would cause problems in having a VBAC ( Vaginal Birth After C-Section ) They said that my uterus might tare or rip open, i might start having internal bleeding or my uterus will collapse during delivery. So I am now scheduled for FEB, 29th 2008 LEEP YEAR to have our baby. The DR also warned me on having a Hysterectomy done while they do the c-section. I will have another Spinal Block done so I will not feel anything at all. With me being very sensitive sometimes women will feel some pain during a c-section and since they may have to do more then just a c-section they will do a spinal block which is more evasive but i will not feel nothing. I have already had it and you really don’t feel anything except pressure. My husband will be in the delivery with me and I will get to hold our baby afterwards if everything goes ok. Also I get to keep our baby with me at all times. There is no nursery so in recovery the baby will be with me, and Makayla, Ron and our baby will be with me in my room too. I m so excited to be able to bond with my baby right away.

With my daughter i was robed of that chance and I did not get to bond with her like I should have been able too. The nursery did not bring her to me tell 6 hours latter and they stuck her with a bottle. I had to fight with the nurses for them to bring her in my room. My mother-in-law had to threaten them so they would bringing her to me. I had to pump my breast for 3 months because my baby did not want to take me. Oh I forgot to mention..... that she was born from an emergency c-section...yeah the hospital screwed up and gave me someone elses meds. I went into anapholatic shock! I almost dies and my baby girl almost died, I ended up having to have an emergency c-section, The hospital was in Texas, thats where we are from. The hosptial was Columbia Hospital and it dosn't exist anymore due to medical malpractic.

Dec. 29 update:

Everything is still good. I still have a lote of back pain and its very hard for me to get around. The doc filled out a paper for me to get temperary handicap plates so i would not have to walk so much. Looks like i will be having little man soon. I was schedruled for the 29th of Feb but the Doc is moving up my delivery date to avoid more complications. So at 32 weeks i will be getting an amnio done to check on little man's lungs, to see if they are develpoed all the way. If the lungs are developed then i will be having my boy as early as 37 weeks if they are not developed all the way I will be scheruled for c-section at 38 or 39 weeks. Right now i am 30 weeks so instead of having 10 weeks left I have 7 or 8 weeks left.

Jan.9th 2008

I got baby news! Yesterday I had my doctors apt. at Balboa and he said in 4 weeks ( Feb. 7Th) they are scheduling an Amnio to be done to check the lung development of the baby. If the baby's lungs are developed little JP will be born the next day ( Fri. Feb.8Th ) via C-section. It has been a hard pregnancy for me and the doctor is very concerned about my health so he is looking at delivering the baby earlier then expected. He feels like the baby will be ready since everything is going very well in his development and growth. I am excited and scared all at the same time because there is still so much to do to prepare for this little man. We do our taxes tomorrow so things should start moving along as far as buying last minute things for the baby.
I never expected my kids to all be born in Feb. It defiantly was not planed to be that way. Both kids where surprises....good surprises, early birthday gift to me in fact. I guess May is just my fertile month. What is so funny is this little guy will be born Feb. 8Th 2008 if everything goes as planed, 10 years ago Makayla was born Feb 10Th 1998, 20 years before Makayla and 30 years before JP, i was born Feb. 12 1978. 8, 2, 12 and 10's all even numbers. This must be my lucky numbers....lol... is this fate or what?. I told Ron the day of the C-Section I wanted to go and buy Lotto tickets in celebration of JP's birth. I'm not that much of a gambler but I'm feeling lucky. JP is my miracle baby and we are lucky to be having him so i thought it would be cool to scratch off a few lotto tickets and see what happens after he is born.......hummmmm hope we hit it big, how about that California lotto jackpot!!!!
