I am 27 years old and have 4 children.. 1 girl and 3 boys.. all ages 8 to almost 2. We didn't want anymore children, so when we found out back in August 07 that I was pregnant yet again it was a HUGE surprise. I went for a routine dating ultrasound at 11 weeks and we were totally shocked when she said it was TWINS!!!!!! Neither my husband or I have twins in our families so we didn't ever suspect a thing. After 3 boys in a row we are now expecting 2 girls :-)

March 11, 2008

I had my 32 week ultrasound and both the girls are growing amazing. They both weight exactly the same... 4lbs 4oz. I am now measuring 40 weeks and have still only gained a grand total of 20 lbs. Unfortunately Twin A has decided to go breech on us. I am really hoping to avoid a c-section so I am hoping she decided to go head down very soon.

March 25, 2008

I am 34 weeks today and I am sooooo uncomfortable. I gained 1/2 a pound this week and it is just because my tummy is to crowded to fit much food in it. I was 2cm today and 50% effaced. More than I have ever been with any of my kids. He said he really wants me to make it another 2 weeks then we can set a date for a induction. If I am not induced I will just got the doctor that is on call and they may do things differently than I like. I am just supposed to keep my feet up and take it easy for the next 2 weeks. He also said he thinks Twin A may be head down now. I am really hoping that she is. I go for another ultrasound in 9 days and will find out for sure. I am keeping my fingers and legs crossed until them!

Your babies are beautiful! How are they doing? Are you nursing? I want to with my twins. I did with my two singletons. It seems crazy to do with twins though!

I'm definitely nervous about the c-section. One thing that I feel better about though, is knowing they are both coming out the same way instead of having one naturally and then an emergency c-section :). They haven't scheduled mine yet. I can't wait 'til they do! I sooo ready to have my belly back AND to actually be comfortable! When your date scheduled for?

surprisebabies3and4 - Friday, 4 April
Hey, I just ready your comment about baby A being breech...I heard the same thing you did. If baby A is breech it is an automatic c section! My baby a is head down and baby b is breech so I could try for a vag delivery but I am nervous about that. I dont want to have a vag birth and then have to have a c section.
Maybe the doctor things that twin a will flip.
Hope all goes well.

Niamh-Jo - Friday, 4 April
Hi, thanks a mill for your comment! Yeah I was disappointed that time too, when I though baby boy had turned and hadn't after all! I was all for having a natural delivery... oh well, like you said, as long as they are healthy that's the main thing! And what helped me was reading about other women's experiences with c-sections -- go to the c-section page on the site and read other people's stories and it might help.. of course some people have had horrible experiences, but others have positive ones... a lady called 'heavin' on this site recommended to me to get a post-partum brace to wear after c-section to give support, so maybe that's an idea for you and me... I don't know where to get one though, that's the only thing.. Anyway, I hope you won't be too scared and I hope it all goes smoothly for both of us! so you're going to have your babies pretty soon, sooner than me eh?! Well I can't wait to see your pics, and to share mine with you! How are you feeling these days otherwise? xx

Niamh-Jo - Friday, 4 April
Hey! Just read your post -- those are GREAT weights!! I am sorry to hear your twinA is breech though pet, it's c-sections for both of us... oh well, we are young and will heal fast! How are you feeling about it? have you got a date for it yet? hope you're well xxx

2RUSure - Thursday, 3 April
My dr said that it wasn't uncommon for each twin to weigh a little different. About a half a pound is average, but sometime more. I wouldn't be worried at all. Both your little ones are a good weight :). Good luck on your c-section. Both of mine are breech as well... Ugh!

Niamh-Jo - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Hey, I had my scan yesterday and baby boy is still breech! URGH! sounds like yours has turned then; lucky you! I hope your doc was right and that baba has turned. You will find out soon for sure then eh? I am 34 weeks and baby boy is 5lb 3oz, baby girl is 4lb 15oz! So I am very happy with that! They should be fine healthy babies when they come out!I just got my date for my c-section: 22nd April! How are you feeling? xx

Niamh-Jo - Friday, 14 Mar
Hey, just read your post on Twin-page, and I have the same problem: I am 32 weeks and 5 days pregnant with our b/g twins, and baby boy -- twin 1 -- is breech. I am so scared about c-section, and also was wondering if there was a chance he might turn... The doctor at my scan said there IS a chance he will turn, but that if he does not do so before 34 weeks he will not do so at all, as there is NO room after that. So, at our 34 week scan, we will see, and then if he still hasn't turned (and, knowing my luck, he won't!) we will be booking a c-section that day for week 38... What did your doc say at your scan? I have my fingers crossed for us both that our twin-1s turn! Let me know how things go, and keep me updated! xxx Good luck xxx

Hello!! My twin A was breech at 32 weeks also. When i went for my 34 weeks u/s he had turned head first. I delivered on 02/20 and has natural birth. I hope that you get what you want and that the baby turns it's possible.
Good Luck with everything

I will go in for my 30 week US Thursday and then one at 32 weeks. My specialist said he may have me come in every week after 32 weeks depending on how I am doing. My OB and specialist will consult on when to take the babies. My OB said probably 36-37 weeks which would be April 11th or 18th. I was having a c-section regardless of a single or multiple birth. My first was an emergency c-section. The cut is vertical (classic cut). My cut this time will be the vertical one. I was knocked out for my last delivery and my DH was not allowed in the OR since I was under. This will be a new experience for us. I did not have trouble with my last c-section recovery. I plan on taking two weeks off work and then going back on a modified schedule- probably 5 hours a day. That is the plan anyway...we will see how things go and play it by ear!! I will let you know how the US goes!!!!

That is great that you do not have to worry about the TTTS. My specialist said that even though my girl's share placenta's the cords were on opposite ends of the placenta which decreases the chances of TTTS. I have heard about the same thing about identical's can have the separate placenta's. My next scan is Thursday, so I am very curious about how much they are weighing now! Four weeks ago at 26 weeks, they were 1pd 15 oz and 2 pd 2 oz !!!! How big are yours?

pamallhoney - Saturday, 1 Mar
The U/S went great yesterday. I love my tech. she really heard what we had to say to her last week about over-exposing our boys to the sound waves. I didn't even have to mention my wishes again. She was able to scan them both in 20 min. Baby A is 2 lbs 1oz. and Baby B 1 lb 15ozs. So right on for 26 weeks. They are however both in a transverse lie. Cervix is long and closed and placenta away from it. I hope the boys decide to go head down. I've never had a c-section, but I do want what is best for them. How are you feeling? We ended up getting cable TV, we've never had it during our 7 years of marriage, but I told my hubby that I needed some different entertainment to help bide my time until they come. You know something I can look forward to every week like American Idol :)

I ended up missing my U/S cause I didn't have child care for the ones that weren't allowed at school. Plus the main road in town was blocked because of the fire. So it meant everyone was using a back street. So I'm scheduled to go back in tomorrow. It was a gas leak I guess. We haven't heard what is going to happen to the kids. There are a couple other schools in the town, but who knows. I homeschooled both of them last year. I would say that is an option again, but probably not due to the pregnancy. Here's a link to the story from the Thunder Bay, ON newspaper. http://www.tbsource.com/Localnews/index.asp?cid=105179

Yes. My specialist tells us they are identical. They share a placenta and the membrane between them is VERY thin. On your US I can see the membrane. In my US the membrane looks like a piece of thin hair that my specialist has to point out or you would never see it. He said that it looks like I started out with one egg and it split 4-6 days after conception. Most people do find out after delivery. My friend on here found out after delivery that her girl's were identical and she really thought they were fraternal. We still do not know about my brothers. my Mom had no idea in 1974 that she was having twins and the Dr had a plane to catch and was in a rush so down the chute went my Mom's placenta without being tested. My DH and I are thinking about buying them the kit for thier Birthday in March because I am really curious now. I thought for sure mine were fraternal because the fraternal gene is genetic and my Mom could have passed it down to me, but not the identical gene. I still want mine tested, because even though my specialist is sure...I am not. Even at my last US the tech asked us if the Dr told us the girl's were identical and we told him yes and he said that is what it looked like to him too??? I guess we will find out soon!! Hope you are feeling well!!!!!! BTW: Love the names you picked out too!!!

The most interesting thing happened twice before I was even pregnant. My pastor's wife came up to me and said 'Twins next time!' then her dad a few weeks later said the same thing. I thought he knew what his daughter had said to me, but he hadn't. So in the back of my mind I thought about it. The Dr. even had trouble finding one heartbeat at 13 weeks let alone two. And still by 17 weeks I was 'on' fundal height wise for a singleton. I did have one pregnancy twin dream sometime before finding out. I saw a little boy and a little girl. So when they told me the sexes I was a bit disappointed only because of the vivid dream. The pastor's wife said two boys all along. My health has been poor for the past 5 years. I was clinically diagnosed with Lyme Disease by one Dr. in Moose Jaw, but she moved and then we moved and now I'm fighting all over again to get a Dr. to believe me. I have done natural things to get better. And 5 years ago I could barely walk or talk, now I can. I only have pressure in my head left which sometimes causes balance problems. I'm sorry to hear about both of your health problems. Does it make you more scared and worried during a pregnancy? I just keep believing God for complete healing however it happens. So I am measuring about 10cm larger right now. Crazy, it makes me curious to see their weight tomorrow. Are they watching you closely for that TTTS? I can't say they are here too small of a town, but I try to be aware of the signs. And trust God. Write when you can!

Congrat's on the twin's! I am having girl's as well!!

I am orginally from Minnesota, but my husband is Canadian. We live in Northwestern ON closest to Winnipeg in a little town on the border called Fort Frances. Where are you at? Probably really far away. Funny...we have 4 children also and no twins in our families. We did however want more children. We agreed to 6, but now that we almost have 6 we aren't so sure we are done. I won't know for sure until after the twins are born and we see how crazy our life is going to get. How are you feeling? I'm so huge I can't imagine getting bigger. I go for an U/S on Thursday a bit curious to see how they are doing. My last two kids were over 9lbs. Are you twins identical? We won't know until after they see the placenta. Since I had such a late U/S they couldn't tell if the there are two fused or one. I hope all is well with you.
