I'm 39 years old (40 in August) and totally shocked (still everyday) at the fact that I am pregnant with #3. I have two beautiful girls, ages 7 and 10, and needed surgeries and drugs for them to even be here. Many years ago I was told that with all my problems that it would be highly unlikely I would ever be able to get pregnant again, so my husband and I never worried about it (or used birth control, being good catholics) and what do you know? They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans, well he must be laughing!

This is life-changing and my husband and I are still getting used to what this means. But with so many sad and horrible stories you hear everyday, how can you look at this miracle as anything but positive? I have to admit, I'm getting excited. I always loved being pregnant. This time around seems similar to the other two, but I'm much more TIRED.

(Sarah & Lindsey)

I just got your message! Good to hear he's moving about! That has got to be so scary! We were in New Jersey for the weekend visiting my sister and my nephews. It was fun being with a couple little guys, we took them to McDonald's play ground and out shopping, I haven't been around little one like that in so long, we had a ball.
I also got to see what its like being sober in a group of drinkers! Holy cats, they were noisey, me and Eric just stayed in our rooms, we just couldn't relate!
How was your mother's day?

debora - Sunday, 11 May
Hi, there:

Ditto on the graphics. I will get someone to show me how to do this soon.

Last night, was the first time I actually slept in a long time. If I eat before 10 at night, I would be awake around 2 or so and been up all the morning and would have heard the storm.

Last night, I stayed out late, so I ate after 11 and actually slept until about 7ish or so this morning.

Too, I might be insane, but I think I am feeling the baby move. I am having more and more thumps and bumps that I am suppose to I think. What do you think about this? I am fine, just curious as to what's going on inside (smiles).

Also, HAPPY, HAPPY Mother's Day to you, too! I hope you are being given the PRINCESS treatment today. My hubbie is in EUROPE so I am missing out on this treatment today.

Smiles,

Debora

Hey! That's great! I was worried about you :-)

You must feel very relieved - I hope you have been able to relax a bit more today and enjoy a special Mother's Day. Thank you for your kind wishes (sadly it's not Mother's Day here in the UK AND I am at work AND to make matters worse the weather is great outside while I am stuck in a dark, dull building, so your message cheered me up and made me smile!) I was pleased to hear that the little guy enjoyed his lunch!

I totally understand about feeling attached to the baby already. I have been nervous about everything being ok throughout this pregnancy and even though we are past those first few months when there is the worry of miscarriage, other things pop up that cause concern. Feeling the baby moving about is the only thing that we have to go on at the moment that he/she is OK. Hopefully over the next few weeks the movements will get a lot stronger and more regular...I love that part of pregnancy!

I hope that your family have been spoiling you and that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable day. Valerie x

Hi, I am really sorry to hear you sounding so worried. How long has it been since you last noticed the baby move? I had a similar scare about 10 days ago when I realised it had been a couple of days since I had felt any movements. It had been an especially busy couple of days so I wonder now if I just hadn't noticed the baby moving. I kept thinking about it all the time and then about a day later I got a really strong few moves in the space of a couple of minutes.
Try not to worry too much, some women haven't felt their babies move at all at this stage - the baby is still so small that it can probably curl up quite tiny. Maybe the baby is just lying in a different place to normal.
There are a few things you could try to see if you can get him to move - try lying on your side and pressing gently around on your tummy, try playing some Bon Jovi to him (put the music on loud or near your tummy), try having a hot drink. Also, not sure if this is just something strange about me, but if I eat something that has a lot of sugar in quite soon after I seem to notice the baby moving - maybe it is a sugar rush!
If you are still worried then I would try and get your appointment with your doctor moved to earlier in the week - there is no point in worrying for longer than you need to.

Also, I have read that during the day when you are busy, your movements can make the baby sleep, which is why you often feel the baby more when you go to bed.

I will be thinking of you. I am sure that everything is fine. Take care and keep me posted. Valerie x

I just laughed at your intro page. And I love "Shocked" ...just too cute.

Anyway, congratulations. You are half-way further along than me.

Hi...(what is your first name!!?)...my DR said that it may just be inflammation of gall bladder that occurs when I eat fatty foods....or a bit of cholestrol debris (I used to get raedings of cholestrol that were on the higher end of scale..) I think these things may be heridetary..and why theb low GI, sugar free diet works so well for me...anyway I get to see a specialist for a 2nd opinipn 2nd July...so thats good..I am just avoiding oils and fats...
Do you have to have a 3rd c-section?? can u try for natural VBAC?? their is much info online bout this?
Yes bellydance really gets the pelvis in motion and creates flexibility for birthing both practically and emotionally..its fantastic pre natal exercise...just organising workshops in June in Melbourne (one of the capital cities of australia)..I have been invited to US Birth Conf Oct 2009 in Maine..2 hours from Boston..the lady would like to organise workshops for me in US then as well....my baby will be one which will be good timing I think (depending on sleep deprivation!!!)..all good..thanks goodness I am feeling alot better...just got to keep an eye on iron stores as slightly anaemic too!!..but so much more aware this third time of looking after me!!! How are u feeling??? xx

I am feeling really ready to have her, had strong bh contractions that has been going on for the last two days, I am so tired, I just wished they would develop into more, but hopefully all this pre-lim work means I may go whiz bang! this time in labour, instead of a long labour like my last two.

sparklyval - Tuesday, 6 May
Hello, thanks for your message. Sorry for the delay in writing back. I have had a few days out with my family, including a night away from home, so I haven't been near a computer since Friday. (Monday was a bank holiday here so it was nice to have a long weekend, we have also finally had some good weather so it was great to be outside in the sun!)

Yes, it is ironic about being the only girl and the oldest - how many brothers do you have? I remember so badly wanting to have a sister. My mum was 42 when my youngest brother was born and I was desperate for him to be a girl. Sadly not, but I now have my two girls, which kind of balanced things out a bit.

Have you been out to buy any baby boy clothes yet? Is your husband still excited about the prospect of having a son?! I am due to have a scan on 22nd May when hopefully we will be able to find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl. I don't mind either way, but it will be exciting to know.

The Bon Jovi concert sounds amazing. It is still so long until I go to see them (June 22nd) - I am very excited! They always put on such a great performance - they play for such a long show. Totally amazing! I haven't got a clue who will support them here in the UK. I will let you know. I hope they don't tire themselves out by the time they come to the UK! The concerts they do must take such a lot of energy! I bet your baby will be born a Bon Jovi fan from birth!

I have given up on non-maternity clothes too! Maternity things are just more comfortable. I definitely look pregnant now, but that is quite nice too. I am really enjoying it at the moment and feel great!
How was your weekend? Did you do anything nice? How are you feeling AND have you though of any names for your baby boy!!?

marsup - Tuesday, 6 May
When are you going to post a belly profile pic? I bet you look so cute! I have to live vicariously through you until I get my own bump!

It has been a while! :) It was a big scare, but I'm so relieved everything is ok. That's awesome you are getting your boy!!! I bet you guys are thrilled!! I'm really excited about having a boy!! I sort of thought that's what it was all along. I am feeling great.. how about you? I go in for another ultrasound this Friday!!! We get to take a VHS tape to record it... Anything new with you?

How did your weekend go? Sorry you missed out on the drunken festivities on the beach! Oh I love the beach... but not while everyone else is drunk!
The girls had a blast at the dance they had their friends come over and get ready and afterwards they slept over their friends house, it was exciting, then nice and quiet. It was fun watching all the other kids show up in their fancy clothes too. haha.. they are so funny at this age!
Well, I am in for a completely boring next 5 weeks or so, no sonogram for a while, no moving, not much showing, just boring old being chubby and tired, with crazy intense headaches almost everyday. I swear this kid is gonna get it when he/she gets out! And I can't wait to stop calling it IT!

..hey hi!! ..yes we will see if boy or girl..one part of me wants to look and the other wants a birth surprise!!..but all in all a healthy bubba...do u sometimes have to pinch yourself and think "I am really having a baby!!"..now that the m/s has shifted I see babies and think my goodness in 5 months I will have one of those..hope I will cope ok!!!!..can be quite surreal...anyway I had my gall bladder u/s and no stones but they found a small growth called polyp..seeing dr tomorrow to discuss what it is!!..I have found a great remedy for heartburn too which has worked REALLY well.. 1tsp 3 x a day..slippery elm powder..it coats the digestive tract..is great and great for babies and kids too.....

well I taught my first bellydance for pregnancy class the other day and it was magical to do whilst pregnant again..I did have v sore thighs though as I havent done that much exercise in awhile!! but all good...I have 3 x workshops in another city of Australia towward end of June..plus other engagements before Oct!! love u to chk out my site..thanks xx

You are an amazing woman! jogging a little! wow!!
I had no energy with this babe, but then again, my iron stores have been very low before I even got pregnant with her, I am having to take iron supplements twice daily, and am starting to feel a bit better, but the last couple of weeks are hard on you anyways with tiredness, that it is hard to tell the difference between that, and the fact that my iron is still low.
I love to feel my baby move, that is something that I really looked forward to, after finding out I was pregnant, those first flutters, and then later on as they got stronger, it is such a neat feeling, women are so blessed we can carry life within us, don't you think?
My back is still sore, not so bad today, I think it depends really on which way she decides to lie.
I find it hard getting up after sitting down, only on the sofa, and I am finding turning over in bed a huge drain on energy, hehe, it is so difficult, I have never been this big with the others, and even my sister couldn't believe how all out in front I am.

Hi, thank you for your kind words about what I would like to do. I love what I do and we will see if it all pays off. I am doing an NVQ 3 at the moment then looking to do a degree and I am all so excited about it.

I do not need to go to Wales anymore with regards to my mum's side of the family as I am not close with any of them and my relationship with my mum and dad have gone down hill big time but we will see what happens in time. It really isn't bothering me that much and am not stressing about it in fact it is like water off a duck's back!

I think I have felt baby move but not sure but DH bought us a sensor monitor to listen to the baby and I think I can hear baby move instead of feeling baby move which is nice so when it is time for bed for the kids we all listen in on what baby is doing and it is so magical but as for feeling movements not as yet I don't think but qill look forward to it happening. I am so excitied for you that you have felt baby move that isn't followed by wind lol, but me too i am having a lot of wind.

I am having a great weekend so far I had a lay in this morning and I am working til 9pm tonight as a one off and I am chilling and relaxing and am so happy because McDonalds have bought back the big and tasty and I am so so so so happy as I have craved this since I was pregnant and it is only here for one month so i think I will eat them until me and baby don't like them anymore lol. How is your weekend going? I hope well, chat to you soon xxxx

Oh, I'm still checking in a lot! I had my Nt scan today. The nurse said it was too early to find out the sex, and didn't even attempt to look. Dummy. Now we have no clue! I was pretty annoyed by that, I mean, who doesn't want at least a good guess? But all the important things are in order and we have a healthy little baby in there. I was surprised at how much like a baby he/she looks, I though it was still at that shrimp looking phase, we got some really cute pictures and I am happy. It is so great to be able to see in there! I am due three days sooner than we thought.
Eric, writes and sings, and plays guitar, his music is basically punk influenced, yet a little more grown up and no screaming. :) His voice sounds a lot like Elvis actually, very nice.
Good to hear you had a good time at Bon-Jovi! Last time Eric played out he asked if all the really loud music was ok for the baby, it gets so loud. I wear earplugs, but its tolerable!
I told my boss Monday, he was a friggin jerk about it. He said, "what, two isn't enough for you" and "it figures the only one who CAN get pregnant here, did" and it really hurt my feelings. As soon as he left I burst out in tears.
But the next day he was super nice, and joking around with me, so what can you do? I just hate the fact that he is so darn selfish.
It was really hard to keep the secret, we told every one we knew before I was even late for my period!! I just had to keep it on the DL for work. I am glad its out in the open.
I feel so much better! Have a nice weekend! My girls are at thier first formal dance tonight, it was exciting shopping for them, and getting ready for it. They looked so cute, you are in for some cool times ahead!
