I'm 39 years old (40 in August) and totally shocked (still everyday) at the fact that I am pregnant with #3. I have two beautiful girls, ages 7 and 10, and needed surgeries and drugs for them to even be here. Many years ago I was told that with all my problems that it would be highly unlikely I would ever be able to get pregnant again, so my husband and I never worried about it (or used birth control, being good catholics) and what do you know? They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans, well he must be laughing!

This is life-changing and my husband and I are still getting used to what this means. But with so many sad and horrible stories you hear everyday, how can you look at this miracle as anything but positive? I have to admit, I'm getting excited. I always loved being pregnant. This time around seems similar to the other two, but I'm much more TIRED.

(Sarah & Lindsey)

HEy there! Well, I felt better then I had a few days of not feelng better, and today I am good again. So I think the m/s is winding down. I am looking pretty bloated in the stomach area, I think I am going to sow early this time.
My pants still fit fine, i just have a bit of a bulging tummy.
Oh your so lucky to be heading out for a little vacation!
We are saving up all our time til Novemer. : )
Two more weeks until my next Dr. appointment. Time seems to be standing still!
Happy Vacationing!

sparklyval - Wednesday, 2 April
I hope you managed to survive the slumber party! Sounded like great fun for your daughter and her friends. I have never tried an overnight party yet - but I am sure I won't be able to escape for too many more years. Maybe I should organise one for my eldest this year as I am likely to be up all night with a new baby anyway (lol)!
I have been having a good week since the scan. I feel so much better and a lot more relaxed about the baby and pregnancy. I am almost beginning to feel like my old self again. I think I had lost the ability to laugh about things for a while!
We go on holiday on Saturday for a week. Nowhere exotic sadly, but it will be great to have a bit of time away from the house so that the four of us can relax and recover from the frantic schedule that we seem to have sometimes. We are staying in a little cottage in the Peak District - which is a lovely part of the UK only about 1 1/2 hours away from here. Much better than lots of travelling, although the weather is not likely to be warm - probably we will be lucky to get anything above 9 degrees C.
How are things with you? I hope you are well. I will write again after our little holiday. All the best x

Happy anniversary! You jog? That's great! I am more of a walker and swimmer myself! I have been feeling much better the past couple of days thank goodness! I hope the m/s is over and done with!
HOw long can you run for? I mean week wise, not miles : )!

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Saturday, 29 Mar
I can't believe you are still running! I tried to keep running with my fifth child, but for some reason, I got incredibly tired and gave it up for walking.
Yes, I could imagine you would feel like a gutted fish, hehe, I have never had a c-section, and hope I never have to have one, I couldn't think of anything worse, trying to cope with a baby after major abdominal surgery, I have had abdominal surgery twice before and you feel like sh***t after it, let alone having a baby to look after, I really feel for you.
Can you tell me why you can't deliver vaginally, is it because you fail to progress?

Sounds like you have your hands full with your little one's birthday party, I hope they didn't tire you out too much.

Hi there... thankyou so much for takig the time to message me. I'm starting to feel less worried but I'd been sick and was worried the medication I was given had done something. I seemed to have a firmness then it went. I can feel a slight firmness above my pelvic area now and I didn't show till 16 weeks with my daughters so assuming all is well.
Congrats on your pregnancy!

sparklyval - Thursday, 27 Mar
Hello, I am pleased to hear that things are good with you and that you had a nice Easter. We had snow here on Easter Sunday - we don't get a lot of snow where I live in the UK so it was the first time in about 2 1/2 years there had been enough to build a snowman and play snowballs. The girls had a great time playing in the garden. I stayed in the warm as I had been quite poorly with a nasty cough and cold for several days and I needed to get better! Bit boring I guess!
Wow - your daughter is 10! I bet you can't believe it. I met up with a friend today who had a baby at the same time as I had my first. We were joking about how things had been when they were 9 months old and now they will soon be 9 years. Time does pass so quickly. I guess that is why I am so pleased to be having my 3rd as I get the chance to do it all again...before you know it you will have a 10 year old AND a 20 year old - bet you can't imagine that!!! :)
Well, good news - the scan showed one wriggly baby with arms and legs!! The only measurement I got at this point was that it is 54mm, which sounds very small, but the size matched my dates, so my due date is still the same. I am just so relieved and happy and like you I will be much more relaxed about things now that I have seen the baby on the screen. We took my younger daughter to the scan who seemed a bit bemused by the whole process and not as excited and amazed as we had thought! Funny how differently children see things.

I still don't look pregnant, which is prob just as well as I haven't told anyone at work yet. I have a part-time job which I have hung on to ever since I started it 7 years ago as it is only 17 hours a week and best of all term-time only (I work at a University). This means I get 8 weeks holiday over the summer which is great for when the schools break up. Plus the Uni offers really good maternity leave, so I am hoping to have a year off work with the baby. However, I have been really nervous about telling my boss as he would prefer me to work full time and he isn't very keen on children :( - I had been waiting for the scan before saying anything, so I will have to have the dreaded chat with him on Monday....wish me luck!
Sorry for the essay, best sign off now before I fill your whole page up :)
Drop me a line if you have time x

maha55 - Thursday, 27 Mar
Great to hear that you are feeling more relaxed..I think as we get through first trimester relief begins to pervade!!..I am still on/off queasy esp in mornings when I have to go thru the mad hour of getting boys ready for school...when they leave I go and lie down for another hour!!!..such a sensitive time of the day...did you find out baby's sex?? Not sure if I will do?? It will be a daughter or for me 'my 3 sons!!'...just hoping for health, harmony and vitality at this stage..keep u posted re my 1st april u/s....love m x

Hello, I lost a couple pounds. But I seem to have an appetite later on at night, so I am eating, but a lot less then usual. I am a dental hygienist, and I wish I could take off a year, but we really need the money. So, I will work until I can't and then take 4 months off.
That's nice you can stay home. I did for my first two, but both me and my husband pretty much lost everything we worked for (since our divorces) and are starting from scratch. I only work 23 hours a week, so it's not that bad, and I do like working, but I like being home for the kids better. : )

Gosh you are lucky you don't have any nausea, that is such a blessing!
Was your baby quite big from the diabetes you had?
Well, your little one could very well turn out to be a boy, as the Dr just guessed at the gender, and at that stage of development, boys and girls look very similar, so there is still a chance that you could be having a boy, fingers crossed.
I know what you mean about feeling the baby move, it is such a wonderful thing, I have got Eden at the mo, kicking and hitting me, and doing full body movements, with not much room in there, it sometimes makes me feel a little nauseaus, especially when she rolls her wee bum against my stomach, urghh!!.

marsup - Tuesday, 25 Mar
I'm glad you had a nice Easter and ate like a pro! haha.. I ate a little. I was tired and sick, but it was nice being with the family.
I think the second trimester brings little bit of patients, that' what I remember anyway, your in a good zone! ON one hand I can't wait, on the other, I can. I really am nervous about telling my boss. He is NOT going to be happy. But I have to say something by 3 months so they are prepared! I think once I tell him he's going to be a jerk for the rest of my time there. OH WELL!
SO are you showing much?

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Tuesday, 25 Mar
Hi hun,
Thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment on my page.
Do you know what you are having?
Thanks for the compliment on the pics of my country, I feel very blessed to live here, that is for sure.
I know, eight weeks, or less now, and counting, it is going very fast, and soon I will have Eden here with us, it seems so surreal, this pregnancy has gone rather quickly, as I have two littlies to look after, that make time fly, they are into everything, and the littlest one still wakes at night, which is really taking it's toll on me, I pray for a decent sleep before Eden gets here.
You said that your first trimester dragged a bit, is it because you have had ms?
Anyway, hun, lovely to meet you.
Hugs Niki

That's great news about your u/s! It's so fun to see them wriggling around in there. That's amazing that they were able to see the sex this early too! My hubby and I decided to be 'surprised' - so we have lots of yellow & green baby stuff. :] Sometimes I wish I knew whether it was a boy or girl... oh well.
I'm also really glad to hear that everything looked healthy w/ your baby! I had a level 2 u/s done at about 2O wks, and it was such a relief to hear that I didn't have any of the down's markers either. I really didn't want to do amnio - mainly b/c I'm a wimp! - so I was glad that they felt confident enough w/ my u/s results to even say they wouldn't recommend an amnio. Such a relief, isn't it? Will you have a level 2 done? Is so, they're wonderful! Soooo in depth. It took about 25 minutes, and they looked at every little detail, down to the 4 chambers in the heart.
I know what you mean about worrying throughout pregnancy though... I just keep shifting fears... my most recent one was that I had gestational diabetes, which thankfully I don't. I'm sure I'll move onto the next fear soon... :]
Hope you had a nice Easter too! Ours was low-key... my hubby plays guitar at church and then we went to our friend's house. Potluck - my kind of Easter!

mplsmama - Saturday, 22 Mar
Hi there, hope everything went well at the dr! Did you get an ultrasound? I wish I could have an ultrasound every week - I love seeing the baby! I also went to the dr yesterday & passed the gestational diabetes test... whew! I was a little nervous for that.
Yeah, I'll get my bar results around tax day... wish me luck... I totally have pregnancy brain too so that's the scary part! I figure if I didn't pass, at least I can use that as my excuse! :]

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Saturday, 22 Mar
Hi sweetie!
Congrats on your third pregnancy!
I am 39 also, and was shocked to find myself pregnant with number 7!
We have a family dominant of boys, so we were ecstatic to find out we are expecting a little girl! this is my husband's first girl, and my 2nd.
Anyway, love to chat with you.
Hugs Niki

Hi,thanks for stopping by and the well wishes. Your two girls are adorable looking. This is my first and I am 39 years old and will be 40 in July. We never thought I would get pregnant,we never tried any medical help. So this is really a miracle baby to me and was so amazed when I seen him during the ultrasound,I wanted to cry,but didn't. Everything looked good and I go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound and blood work. I can't wait to see him again. Congrats to the two of you and good luck!

Hi! I just read your post about the U/S - I bet you are very relieved to find out that everything is ok. So pleased for you. I hope it turns out to be a boy if that is what you are hoping for. I finally have a date for my U/S - 27 March, so less than a week to wait now.... best wishes to you x

maha55 - Wednesday, 19 Mar
Yes I know what you mean..the third time around I think has layers of a different reality!! sleeplessness nights, practicalities around the house, two other children's routines to keep in place but its all imaginery till the baby comes along and I feel knowing all those things places us in a great position of being able to really let go, relax and surrender to the experience...enjoy (this will def be my last)..and how wonderful we have our older chn..creates a totally different family dynamic..I am teaching my boys self sufficiency over the next mths!!! Dont worry too much we will ease ourselves into it...yest I held my friends 5 wk baby and she was so gorgeous that all my worries just melted away!!! stay in touch xx

marsup - Wednesday, 19 Mar
I know! 12 weeks and they can tell ts a boy. Things sure have gone a long way since I was last pregnant.
We are thinking Edison for a boy and Veronica for a girl, we have been thinking names for months already!
I keep having dreams that I am having a girl too. And I am scared to hear its another girl. I just want to have a boy for a change! Part of me wants to wait because finding out its a boy in the delivery room would be amazing after waiting so long, and part of me wants to know so I can prepare!
Go on, enjoy yourself, eat what you want, and don't worry about the family either, it's going to be fun for all of you!
Difficult sometimes, sure, but your girls are good ages to be helpers and they'll enjoy helping and being little mommies.
