I'm 39 years old (40 in August) and totally shocked (still everyday) at the fact that I am pregnant with #3. I have two beautiful girls, ages 7 and 10, and needed surgeries and drugs for them to even be here. Many years ago I was told that with all my problems that it would be highly unlikely I would ever be able to get pregnant again, so my husband and I never worried about it (or used birth control, being good catholics) and what do you know? They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans, well he must be laughing!

This is life-changing and my husband and I are still getting used to what this means. But with so many sad and horrible stories you hear everyday, how can you look at this miracle as anything but positive? I have to admit, I'm getting excited. I always loved being pregnant. This time around seems similar to the other two, but I'm much more TIRED.

(Sarah & Lindsey)

Hi, thanks so much for your lovely message - it was great to hear from someone else with similar circumstances.

I can imagine that finding out you are pregnant must have taken a bit of getting used to initially, but what an exciting thing to happen! Yours is a lovely story and I bet your two gorgeous daughters are very happy at the prospect of being big sisters!

Like you, my PG symptoms have been pretty similar to my previous two (from what I can remember - although it was 5 years ago now - eek!) BUT really really tired. Is it being older or is it having a family and a job already that makes it more tiring? Or both?

Many congratulations on your pregnancy - this website is amazing for hearing about such heart-warming and inspiring stories. I wish I had come across something like this in my other two pregnancies. Its lovely to be able to share experiences during such an exciting (and scary) few months. Take care and keep in touch xx

Hi there! I had my Dr. Appointment yesterday. It went well, it's official now! He said I can be screened for downs at 12-13 weeks and most women do, but I don't know, I wouldn't abort so what's the point? To be honest, I am thinking of just going so I can see the baby. Otherwise I have to wait until I am 20 weeks.
Can't wait to hear about it :)
How are you feeling?

I can't wait to hear about your u/s, my friend just had hers at 12 weeks and its a boy! I just can't believe how early they can tell these days!
I can't wait to start feeling better. I am barley eating, I just feel so sick to my stomach, this is a tough one!
I am so looking forward to cravings and eating~ your girls are just so adorable. OH yea, we decided we are going to find out the sex when we can.
HAppy Week 11!

Thanks for your msg - hope all continues to go well for you w/ this pregnancy!
I actually just took the bar about 2-3 wks ago, and won't find out if I passed until mid-April... so we'll see! It's funny, b/c when I started law school I was soooo career-oriented, but now all I want to do is be a SAHM! At least for a while... unfortunately, my school loans will probably prevent me from doing that for too long. It's a bit depressing, but whaddya do? I made the choice to go to school, can't really get out of repaying those loans! And I worked all thru school so I only took out what I needed... but we're still pretty in debt. Oh well. What was your degree in? I think it's good to just get the education, and it's something that no one can ever take away from you. You never know what you'll want to do in a few years. My husband is a teacher so we're big believers in education.
Take care! Feel free to drop me a line anytime...

Hi there, I saw your poost on the AMA page. I am 27 wks now, but was a complete nervous wreck until I got to about 14 wks. I had a m/c shortly before this pregnancy, and had some spotting in my 1st trimester during this pregnancy, so I was convinced I was m/c'ing again and would never be able to carry a child. Thankfully, I was wrong, as the spotting stopped & everything has been great ever since! I think it's totally normal to worry, esp when so many people focus on the doom & gloom of being a bit 'older.' [[I'm not talking about the women on the AMA page - I guess I'm talking about people in general, and even some dr's]...
I personally went through phases where I had to take a break from this website, b/c I too was starting to feel down about all of the sad stories. Then when I started feeling better again, I'd come back to the website. Overall I've found it to be interesting & a great source of support to talk to other women in the same phase of life. Hope all contines to go well for you!

What a beautiful family that you have. It truly is a gift from God. You will be able to open it! I never thought we would be pregnant again either. I got pregnant in Feb 07 and ended up miscarrying in April. 3 cycles later, I was pregnant again. We just were in shock and awe! I really thought the miscarriage was the end of my child bearing. My 16 year old has wanted a sibling for so long. I just think this baby is a miracle and one to treasure the rest of our lives. My husband has been know to have a low count and we have been together for 9 years..no babies until last year. We did not and have not used birth control either. We always said if it happens, it happens. Then I am pregnant 2 times in 6 months. Go figure! I do believe everything happens for a reason.
I know we have not talked much yet but, with my first husband he really did not want me to have my son. I was determined to have him and what a beautiful child/young man he has become. It was always kind of strained between my first husband and I though I never really realized it until 10 years passed. I don't think I ever forgave him for feelings he had about the pregnancy and a lot of other bad things that happened between us. With my husband now, we are so deeply in love and just have that understanding between us. I never had had that before in any relationship. It scares me sometimes like it might be taken away. I think that is why I am so worried about the baby. Here I am with a man that wants this baby as much as I do and I am afreaid it will be taken away from us. Does that sound weird? Now that I have talked your leg off, I'll say bye for now. I would love to learn more about you and help you in anyway that i can. Take care and congratulations to you and your family!! Jenny

Hi, I was nervous my 1st trimester too, but I think it had most to do with my hubby. He was 36, now 37, and was convinced that something was wrong with him and that he could not have children. His ex wife and an ex girlfriend both had miscarriages. So when I had some spotting, he said things like, 'Well, I already know this one is gone, but I think we should try again right away, because the older we get the worse it will be.' I was like, but this one is not 'gone,' why is he giving up on our baby already?!! Anyway, eventually because he was so convinced, I started doubting as well, and that is the worst feeling in the world. I will never let that happen to me again. Pregnancy is an opportunity to experience so much joy and inner peace, if you can stay centered and connected to your instincts--which are so powerful during this time. I am finally back to this wonderful place and I am feeling much better. I hope you can get there too!

Thanks for reassuring me! I hate this spotting thing! It stopped yesterday but have been so constipated it wouldn't surprise me if it started up again. I have my pelvic tomorrow, can't wait ;) !! Take care

Cold?! COld?!! It's freezing! HA! I can't wait for the weather to improve! We have a couple feet of snow from the weekend but it's supposed to get up to 40 something this week.
how's the weather there?

marsup - Tuesday, 11 Mar
aw what a cute couple you are! And your girls are so pretty :)
What beautiful little miracles!

marsup - Tuesday, 11 Mar
I didn't talk to my office at all because when I called to book an appointment, they just scheduled one and didn't ask why. They must have been really busy that day, because they usually ask.
I am not due for my annual and I was just there last month for a consult to see if I should be doing anything special to conceive, since we are over 35 and tried for 6 months. He said, no, it just takes time, a week later, we conceived!
I was reading about the boy and girl sperm as well, and if they are right we are having a girl too, because they say if you BD often the man will produce more female sperm, and we do, being newlyweds and TTC.
But, like you said, who knows. I don't like waiting either, but I love surprises, so at this point I am leaning towards waiting to find out.

marsup - Monday, 10 Mar
I feel really sick, everyday I feel nauseas, but today is the worse yet.
Your Dr. seems very thorough, that's good. Did you know your ovulation schedule in determining you due date?

marsup - Monday, 10 Mar
My first Dr appoinment is march 17th. I heard I should wait til I am 8 weeks along before my first visit. Is this true?

marsup - Monday, 10 Mar
Well, we are totally do not know what do do as far as finding out! It is so fun to find out after delivering, its such a celebration and surprise, but we would like to be able to get used to what we're going to have.
We both want a boy, or course after having two girls, it would be nice to have a boy too.
My girls don't seem to really care either way, my younger one, recently kept asking me if I will have a baby. And she said she wants me to. The older one is too into her own world, but, I think you are right, this will be a nice lesson for them, and I think it will bring us all closer. I was 13 when my brother was born, and I was so excited, I loved being a second mom to him : )
HOw about your girls? When will you find out the sex?

Mollie26 - Sunday, 9 Mar
Thanks a ton for leaving me a comment about spotting! I was so scared. I still have it just a little bit and it is still brown. I have my first pelvic Thursday. Take care!!

kargy - Sunday, 9 Mar
Are you talking about the Rhoades that live I think on Old State Road? (Rosie?? She was my basketball coach in elementary school). I didn't know Mr. Haas. He was not there when I went. I love the Pizza Shop wedgies too... those are sooooo good!! :)

We are really hoping for a boy. My dad had two girls, and there is only one boy in DHs family to carry on the name. We would be equally pleased with a girl too :) I plan to find out as soon as I can. I would love to find out next month some time.

Do you have a 'feeling' either way as to whether you're having a boy or girl? I've had a feeling that mine is a boy... I've had a dream about a baby boy.. and I just have an overwhelming feeling that that's what I'm having. I had an overwhelming feeling I was pregnant from 3 days past ovulation. It's weird.. you just sort of know.

Thank you so much! I am so excited! COngrats to you too! We aren't too far apart in age nor due dates.
Keep me posted. Are you planning on finding out the sex?

kargy - Saturday, 8 Mar
That is really neat! Yes, my husband went to North Clarion. I went to Cranberry. I actually work in Clarion county with children and I frequently visit both Keystone Elem and High School. My dad is actually from Fern and went to Keystone. I haven't had a Bob's sub in a long time :) One of our favorite places to eat is the Pizza Pub. I am thinking the place you were referring to in Fryburg with the bands was probably the Club Farm (Fryburg Sportsman's Club). They don't do that anymore. Once in a while they have a band at the bar though. Do you come up here very often? It is still nasty.. as a matter of fact we are basically in a blizzard right now. We should have about a foot of snow by tomorrow evening. I hate the weather here.
I also went to Clarion for my undergrad degree. You wouldn't believe how it's changing. They started building a new Science Center. They've also begun construction on a new dining hall and dorms. They're in the process of demolishing Cambell Hall. I guess it's filled with asbestos.

How is your pregnancy so far? I am tired. I had some indigestion in the beginning, but have experienced more nausea this past week. I just feel really bloated most of the time. Have you had an ultrasound yet? I have one Thursday. I am excited. I can't wait to find out the gender. Are you going to find out?
