I'm 39 years old (40 in August) and totally shocked (still everyday) at the fact that I am pregnant with #3. I have two beautiful girls, ages 7 and 10, and needed surgeries and drugs for them to even be here. Many years ago I was told that with all my problems that it would be highly unlikely I would ever be able to get pregnant again, so my husband and I never worried about it (or used birth control, being good catholics) and what do you know? They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans, well he must be laughing!

This is life-changing and my husband and I are still getting used to what this means. But with so many sad and horrible stories you hear everyday, how can you look at this miracle as anything but positive? I have to admit, I'm getting excited. I always loved being pregnant. This time around seems similar to the other two, but I'm much more TIRED.

(Sarah & Lindsey)

..sorry for late reply..been a v busy week filming our DVD..looks great!!!..I am happy that your gestational diabetes is under control..good news..
why are u having c-section???? The baby could still turn???..and acupuncture point (I think at little toe..need to check) can help with this as well as head to knee position, bum in air!!...
We dont have long to go..my baby is a big mover and shaker, more than my boys!!I am heading toward 33 weeks cant beleive it now, reality is setting in!!! I am getting everything ready for homebirth...about to tidy and fuss around the house, move furniture and generally change things around!! We are funny at this time...my wobbly moments have been helped greatly by weekly massage, deep breathing in quiet and COQ10 anti oxidant..although gall bladder plays up monthly..not fun....well am just about to be interviewed live on local radio re my book on bdance for birth..take care keep me posted...xx

Glad to hear that your sugars are good. I didn't gain any weight for the first 3-4 weeks on the diet but I have gained a bit here near the end, however I am sure that is it now.

I lost my plug at the beginning of the week and had horrid contractions for a few days - but totally irregular that is wasn't worth going in to the hospital. I had a few good days mid week but last night they were nasty again. Day by day and night by night is how we are taking it right now. I am now 36+1 which is really good for twins but we are hoping to make another week.

Are you not ready mentally or just with getting stuff ready? My SIL has been here for the past two weeks and we (mostly she) has been cooking and baking stuff for our freezer - it has been such a blessing. Our nursery is ready and I finally packed my bag this week. I am finally looking forward to meeting these babes and letting my body start to heal.

Have a good weekend.

How are you coming along this week?

Sorry, I have been so slow to reply or even write!

My husband and business goals are keeping me very busy!

I am workin gon two key presentations due next week. I have been hustling for these contracts since March! So, I hope they are worth the wait.

Love,

Debora ;-)

Yes, you're almost there aren't you!! You must be very excited. Since we've found out, friends have started giving us baby clothes - it just made me cry, it makes it more real. I hadn't bought or accumulated a thing before now..just in case. It's really happening. I just pray we get moved before the baby comes. There's 4 of us in a 1,270 sq ft house right now - and all rooms are already full. We've got 2.5 more weeks before our house goes on the market and a lot left to do to prepare. Until then, I can't really "prepare" because there's no place to put a crib, or a changing table...or anything else! Argh!!

Libbaby4 - Thursday, 14 August
Yes, it is nice having lower water bills!

I'm so glad that your sugars are doing so great, what a relief. It sucks that you have to watch what you eat so closely. Maybe since you aren't gaining as much you will lose it super quick and easy after the baby comes. Have you scheduled your c-section yet?

We have open house in a couple of hours. I'm ready for the big ones to be back in school. We have the baby's room painted and I'm just about done with the stencils. We just have to get the crib up from the basement and it will look like a baby's room again. I've washed a few things.

We are almost done! It's crazy that people due within a week of us are starting to have their babies already.

Hi there! Still moving and still no time for myself. Every time I login here now it's just a quick peek. I'm so darn tired of moving. Still another week before we're settled. Funny you say massive wardrobe. I have the smallest one I've ever seen, seriously! You know, I don't feel the same at all, but I got on the scale this morning, and like you, I've only gained 1 pound in 4 weeks. I thought for sure during the move with eating on the run and no exercising, I'd have gained at least 3, but no, it was the same. Sorry your diet is tough. Just keep focusing on your healthy baby. We're in Sacramento. By the way, when is your birthday? Your profile says 40 in August. I'll be 40 Jan 5th. Ok, off to more unpacking. :-(

firstbabyd - Thursday, 14 August
Thankfully just one more week to go! Went to the doctor last Thursday because I was feeling out of sorts and it turns out my bp was high...so I've been on bed rest since then! I have another check up on Friday so we'll see what happens. I'm not good at sitting around all day so I'm hoping it goes down and I can go back to work next week Monday and Tuesday before my c-section!

Congrats on your sugar levels!! That's fantastic! It's so nice to only have to check twice a day! I only gained about 3 more pounds after being put on the diet - so I guess I should be thankful for it. Otherwise I know I'd be eating myself out of house and home...and little of it would be worth any nutritional value! For whatever reason my levels have completely dropped - almost like I don't have it. My dietician can't explain it and neither can my doctor. They just told me to increase my carb intake so I'm in the range I should be. It's very, very strange.

7 weeks to go...almost there! So close, yet so far away right?

stacy5175 - Thursday, 14 August
hi!
Hang in there, you are almost there! I know how you feel, I am ready for this to be over. Been really tired, at least the walking used to keep me motivated and my energy up. I'm glad to hear the blood sugar is normal...I'd probably lose weight not being able to eat all that stuff. I have a big sweet tooth now, probably not the healthiest! I've gained 18 lbs so far. How much more weight does the dr. want you to gain?

Do your children go to private school then? That makes it sooo easy no school clothes/no school supplies! I remember last year I spent $500.00 on Alex's school supplies alone. They go to public school, but it's a really good school district where we live. I just finished writing all the checks for registration, and filled out all the paperwork...I feel much better now.

I'm all ready for the baby, I got most of what I needed at the shower. Only bummer is everything is in our bedroom...we haven't decided if we are moving next year, or adding on a bedroom. (only have 3 bedrooms)

I have my 4D ultrasound on monday, I'm excited! Did they schedule your c section yet?
good to hear from you :)
take care!

ps-do you know the sex of your baby?

surprisenumber5 - Wednesday, 13 August
Hello there shocked! your story reminds me of mine lol! I am 38 and have 3 boys, it was hard to convince my hubby to have the boys and my neighbour and i always joked about having just one more. We also had slim chances of concceiving, i have a fibroid and endometriosis and we were using protection( the same method has worked for over 10 yrs) oh well, whats meant to be is meant to be....and they tell me this one is a little girl!

sparklyval - Tuesday, 12 August
Hello! Wow - that must have been a near miss with your tree coming down during the storm! That sounds a bit scary! Isn't it always the way that these things happen at the most inconvenient of times - like when your husband is away!! I hope that it hasn't taken too much to get it cleared up.
How was the first day back at school for all of you? I am not looking forward to having to get back in to the routine of being up and out of the house early for school. Kate starts school in September - only for 2 1/2 hours a day for the first month, which is a real pain as it means walking to and from school three times every day while I am 8 months pregnant! School is only 10-15 minutes walk from our house, but as I already feel like a whale, the thought of all that walking in another month's time when I will be 4 weeks bigger is very daunting!!

We are on a slightly different timescale to you. We are due to go away on vacation on August 26th. As we are on holiday for almost two weeks, school starts back while we are away, so the girls miss the first few days. They start back at school on Monday 08th Sept.

I am SO NOT missing work at all at the moment!! I am really getting used to the extra sleep in the morning and long leisurely breakfasts, and not having to RUSH!! I can't believe that your school vacation has gone so quickly...it feels like two minutes since you were telling me there were only a few days until the girls finish school for the holidays! I must try and make the most of the next month before the mayhem starts!

The baby shower sounds very exciting...we don't tend to have things like that here in the UK, so I am a little envious...it really sounds like fun! You will have to let me know how it goes - I hope you have a great time!

What are your plans for your 40th birthday? I know that you said you won't be hungover, but I hope you get a glass of champagne! 40 and pregnant - two great reasons to celebrate!! (Have you got used to the idea of having a baby again yet - some days I just can't believe that in a little over 8 weeks I am going to be a mum again!!)

Anyway, hope you are keeping OK. Take care, Valerie

maha55 - Monday, 11 August
Hey how are u doing?? Long time no hear?? I am pretty good, 31 weeks plus starting to def feel that I am pregnant!!!...and the need to slow down, unwind and focus inward etc etc..am making a bellydance for birth DVD this week...my FINAL BIG PROJECT....then I begin to relax, and the weather getting a bit warmer so all good.....hope you are happy, healthy, huge????...love to hear m xx

stacy5175 - Sunday, 10 August
I haven't worked in a few years. My specialty was dermatology/lasers, although I've done everything from SICU to home health. I don't think I'll be working any time soon :)

Oh, I was thinking the same thing...looking back a year ago...thinking who would've known I'd be pregnant this time last year??? Have a makeup 40th party after the baby! I went to dinner last night, and I saw an apple martini that looked soooo good! Was in the mood for one :(
What can you eat? Have you gone school shopping yet? ugh, I'm still going through registration papers, and figuring out how much $$ I need to spend. Now that you get a little break before school starts, what are you going to do....relax :)

Libbaby4 - Sunday, 10 August
LOL... hubby is starting to paint the room today. I took forever to get all the stuff out the I've been throwing in there! I made 4 blankets and 2 burp cloths over the past week. I'm slowly getting a few things done. I have all these ideas but just not enough time or energy to get them all done.

If you don't mind me asking, what county to you live in? I live in Paulding... still can't water outdoors. Our grass is just about dead!

firstbabyd - Friday, 8 August
Great to hear from you! I actually met with my doctor yesterday and we scheduled my c-section for Aug 20th at 7:30am. I was overjoyed to hear how your c-section (the elected one that is...) went. I'm a little nervous about the whole thing - I hate surgery!!! I've already talked to my mom and she is taking a week off from work to come stay with my me for the first week after I get home from the hospital. My husband has to go back to work right away so he can't help me out much. This way I'll be able to do just as you said - NOTHING, but take care of the baby.

Sounds like you have your hands full today!! Sorry to hear about the tree...thankfully it didn't hit your house! Now is not the time for trees (or anything else for that matter) to be falling on your home! Not with the hubby out of town and you being pregnant!

It took me a long time to get ready for the baby too. I just finished up the nursery last weekend. I didn't go all out - I'm just not that creative, but we have a little safari theme going and I found some cute pictures and wall decals at Babies R'Us to put up. I have a small bag of things packed for the baby to bring to the hospital...now I just have to get mine together.

Good luck with all you have going on today and with the tree! Have a great weekend as well!

Daisey - Wednesday, 6 August
Yeah, this guy is low sometimes. I have to lift him up when it gets too uncomfortable. I don't have sciatic nerve issues, but I am having a hard time battling cramps in my calves. My 3D/4D went ok. His face was buried in my back for the most part. I'm going to ask for a re-do. I will post what I have when time permits. I'm very busy with working and moving. I am constantly moving from morning until night. I am doing escrows. I took my 28 week GD yesterday and failed again by 3 points. So now I have to take the 3 hour AGAIN!!! Darn!!

Angiepangie - Wednesday, 6 August
Hi again...things are healing well...just a small (0.5cm) spot where my staples popped a bit. I still had a cough after surgery, so I suppose that is how that happened. Douglas is a great big brother! I'm glad he is 5 and can understand that I can't always tend to him immediately. He is my big helper...I hope that your girls react the same way...it is making the transition much easier. I swear sometimes I thought I was pregnant with the "alien" spawn! I totally understand (and don't miss) the sudden stabs of pain when William would decide to change position...he had so much room, even at the end...our stretched out uterus' are to blame for their extra mobility I suppose! I ate carbs constantly with William...I can't imagine how hard it is to avoid naughty stuff. I'll upload new pics soon. Angela

Angiepangie - Tuesday, 5 August
Hello again! I'm starting to feel capable of taking care of more than just myself again...and William is changing every day! I'm trying to enjoy it all...even the diaper explosions...since this is my last go around! Douglas is a great big brother! I'm surprised at how well he has adapted to our new arrival...none of the sibling rivalry I expected! I guess the age difference is the trick...they really don't share anything but me and Dad, and Douglas has shown maturity beyond his years and a lot of patience...I couldn't be prouder of him! I hope your girls react the same. Keep in touch! Angela

twinstwice - Tuesday, 5 August
Yup - those were the weights at 34 weeks - I will probably have one more scan in another week or two. It is hard to believe that I am carrying that much baby around!!

Glad that the GD is controlled with the diet. Mine has gone so well - in fact the nurse said I only have to check every other day now because my numbers have been well within the required limit!

I have been feeling pretty good - yes, getting tired, but the last few days I have been nesting - the babes must be coming soon! I have help with my girls (my SIL is here right now) so that is a huge blessing! How about you? Are you starting to get tired?

stacy5175 - Monday, 4 August
hi! No contractions since my L & D visit! I think I just needed water! My dr. said if I walk carry water, and make sure a bathroom is closeby.

I passed my GD test :) How is your diet going? I had the full bladder ultrasound...I wanted to jump across the dr's desk at my ultrasound tech though!!! Ugh..here I am waiting for her for 15 min. with a full bladder, while she sat answering phones. They told me not to be late, that I'd be seen right away. Well, I ended up complaining to them...that I was about to pee my pants...and can she please see me now. I really get annoyed with dr.'s staff who make you wait...being a nurse I'm empathetic about that sort of thing!

You are going to be busy with your family/brother the next 2 weeks!

I had my shower the other day, so much fun! Got mostly everything I needed :)
Try and rest a little ;)

JennyBen - Monday, 4 August
My husband and kids came with me today and we found out we're having a BOY! My daughter was supremely disappointed, she REALLY wanted a baby sister, but she's slowly coming around. She'll be fine - and I explained to her, since she's the ONLY girl now, that makes her special. Everyone is very excited for us. Still haven't felt much movement, but the baby was moving on the ultrasound, I just couldn't feel him. Dr. says it should be anytime now. So that's it - it's definitely a boy, we saw all his equipment and even have a photo of it, doesn't appear that there's anyway it could be wrong - it's a boy!
