I'm 39 years old (40 in August) and totally shocked (still everyday) at the fact that I am pregnant with #3. I have two beautiful girls, ages 7 and 10, and needed surgeries and drugs for them to even be here. Many years ago I was told that with all my problems that it would be highly unlikely I would ever be able to get pregnant again, so my husband and I never worried about it (or used birth control, being good catholics) and what do you know? They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans, well he must be laughing!

This is life-changing and my husband and I are still getting used to what this means. But with so many sad and horrible stories you hear everyday, how can you look at this miracle as anything but positive? I have to admit, I'm getting excited. I always loved being pregnant. This time around seems similar to the other two, but I'm much more TIRED.

(Sarah & Lindsey)

6lbs in a week? Is that even possible? Only if it were all water and a full colon. I've gained 3 in a week, but not 6. I think you're fine. How often do you use the scale at home? Yep, I am going to mark my weekly progress consistant with the beginning no matter how big, stretchy, or nasty I may get. It helps keep me in check and answer for myself. If I like what I see, I'll keep up the good work. If I can't stand it, I'll work a little harder. :-)

Hello there, thanks for your well wishes. The test was ok, a little dull of course, but no big deal. Although I now have track marks on my arms and hope I don't have to promise my co-workers I do not have a problem .

I did get a little worried cause when I got home, I hadn't eaten in 14 hours, and I just bottomed out. I started shaking and feeling faint and weak. I had to have my ENORMOUS lunch laying down on the couch! Not a pretty sight I can tell you. I hope that is not a bad sign. I couldn't believe how much I could actually eat!

Anyway, they tell me it is going to take a couple of days for the results to come back, so I am just going to put it out of my mind until then.

Hope all is well with you! Take care!

gosh, GD sounds yucky...I hope you don't get it! What a pain! Can you imagine being diabetic all the time? Especially insulin dependent!

Why do they do the full bladder ultrasound? I don't remember doing it with the first 2 pregnancies. The nurse told me to check and see if your cervix is long enough and to make sure it's not dilated.

Yes, my kids start school after labor day. I can't believe I'm coaching either, every year I say that...and here I am again :)

Are you going on vacation before your kids start school?

Daisey - Monday, 14 July
This weight is coming on too quickly. I hope I only gain 1 lb. in the next month like you. I doubt it! I haven't crocheted anything for the baby yet. I've been working on a huge blanket for Dad for many months now. My son's first blanket will be next. I'm excited to get started on it! :-)

marsup - Sunday, 13 July
Hello! We just got back from camping, tent camping no less.. it rained a lot but all in all it was fun.
I gained 15 lbs so far, you are doing very well! When do they usually do that blood sugar test? Does the amount of sugar you eat lately have anything to do with it? If so I am SCREWED! lol

sparklyval - Sunday, 13 July
Hi! Sorry to hear about you failing the glucose test. I hope that it doesn't turn out to be GD. From what I have heard, that seems like a pain - with having to carefully monitor everything that you eat and keep an eye on quantities of carb's etc. I am not sure that I would cope with that kind of a diet at all! It must take a bit of organising. I got tested quite a bit for GD last time around as they thought that may be the cause of me having such big babies, but I never got a positive result, so it can't have been that. I am hoping that I don't get it this time around either. Keep me posted about how your 3 hour test goes.

At least everything else is good. I haven't had an appt. now since my big 20 week check. I am going to see the midwife on Thursday this week, just for all the routine checks. I feel good so hopefully everything is OK. The next big thing will be the private scan I am going to organise. I need to ring and make an appointment with the clinic on Monday. I have to fit that in before 25th July as I will be away visiting family after that for a while. I can't wait to see what the baby looks like now!! My two girls are going to be sooo excited!!

Sounds like you are just as busy as me with family visiting, your vacation to come soon etc. It is just mad where time goes to...hard to believe that we are now in the third trimester! Vx

Aaahhh...we all have something to face in pregnancy!!!...I havent experienced GD but know its "sugar" related..can you modify results by changing diet???? I hadnt eaten sugar for nearly 5 years before I conceived and been on low GI diet....would this help???...well thats good you arent anemic..I border on it!!!! thats my thing generally so lots of parsley and iron tabs...and your bubba is doing great strong and healthy..yah!!
Yes sleep deprivation...trying to stay calm and surrendered..I have a great helpful partner (not like my first who helped when he felt like it!!)..Don is alot more conscious so am pleased bout that..I am lucky my boys school bus stops outside our gate ..its fantastic...even though I will need to help get them ready in morn I can go back to bed after they leave!!....aahh the joys of mother hood...and beyond...stay positive.....
yes my book is getting alot of publicity..its v exciting and good to have a little business after bubba born...
take good care..xx

What do you have to do/not do when you have GD? Never had it, but it sounds like a bummer! I have to take the glucose test in 3 weeks, and the FULL bladder ultrasound, yuck!

This month is crazy, seems like all I do is drive my son around to summer school and x country practice...all over the hill. Then next month my daughter starts cheer, I'm coaching...so it'll be 2 hrs/day 4 days/week for the whole month of aug. Busy summer ;)

Hope your glucose test is normal!!!

shelm2 - Thursday, 10 July
Hi there, I failed my test with a 168 as well. This is my third baby as well (I also have to little girls) and I have not had this problem before. They told me, on my last pregnancy, that I was a little high but still within the window of averages. I have to go in for the three hour test on Monday morning. What happens if you have gd? What are the chances that you have it if you fail the one hour test? I am not looking forward to the test but I really really don't want gd.

debora - Thursday, 10 July
Hmmm...sorry to hear about the tests. Hopefully all will work out.

Yes, I am fine and happy. Just so confused with what to do with only two days to go until you know who.

Anyway, I will just do what I can and leave the rest!

Smiles,

Debora :-)

Well thank you for the "fashionable" statement. I was just telling Stacy that for some reason when I post pics in the profile, they are elongated and makes me look thinner. When I add my belly profile shots, however, those are pretty accurate to my size - which, by the way, is really increasing lately.
Mine was 139. Yeah, 168 is kind of up there. Good luck with that. I was so bored during the 3 hour, but I crocheted the entire time which made it go by a little faster.
15 pounds at 27 weeks?? Geez, if I could be so lucky. I'm 13.5 at 24 weeks!

maha55 - Tuesday, 8 July
Hi thanks for message...
yes time is flying almost 27 weeks and popping out well and truly..feeling heavy although have only put on 3 kgs at most....starting to feel it in my upper back (old pain) aarrgghh pregnancy always brings up "old stuff"!!
I know what you mean bout not being ready..I agree!!! I just think everything will miraculously fall into place...a friend came over with a high chair today and I am thinking "gosh I'm actually doing this all over again!!" do u sometimes wonder if you can????? I guess when our babies arrive we will be likes ducks to water!! I do find I am tired by early eve...and then enjoy a full nights sleep and wonder bout sleep deprivation all over again!!! I keep talking to baby telling them they will be the perfect sleepers (after my other two!!)...I am having bloods done, incl just a random glucose on 16th..as I havent eaten sugar for so long dont want to drink the glucose....my urine is always vg so no need to worry.....next month I have organised for a film guy to start filming me for a bellydance for birth DVD..whilst I am pregnant..and I am busy promoting my book...going well...so take care to you!! and family... xxxx

debora - Tuesday, 8 July
Hey, there:

How is your week coming? I am sure you must be busy.

Getting busy for me....hubby to arrive this Friday and of course, I am not ready.

The girls I am babysitting mom return to America on Wednesday and all ready I miss them!

Anyway, we have done our weekly shopping and for the first time the 2 year old actually kicked me out of bed last night! So, glad I wasn't pregnant as this might not have went over too well.

Otherwise, all is well and I am so tired these days. The kids are a bit draining, but so worth it.

Smiles,

Debora :-)

stacy5175 - Tuesday, 8 July
hi! Yeah, I feel big!! No stretch marks yet either (none with the first 2)...feel the same way..3 more months of skin stretching is that possible? Gained 15 lbs. and dr is happy about that, wants me to gain 15 more by due date. I walk too, an hour/day! I started shaving my daughter's legs too, she is 9...she has dark long hair on her legs too! Wow you wake up early still...my kids wake up around 10 am sometimes noon! I let them....it's summer! School starts in Aug? Ours starts sept. Summer school starts for my son on wed though, so he'll have to wake up early...then in Aug. he runs cross country at 8 am! Not much longer of sleeping in! Daughter gets her tonsils out next week, ugh!
Hope you are doing well. Good to hear from you :)

marsup - Tuesday, 8 July
Hey sweetie pie! lol... I'm good, no new news..
I feel good, pregnant, not out of this world great like some lucky ones, but, you know, feelin it!

Its definatly at a nice point, feeling her moving all the time, she's really active, and I love it. Today is me and my Eric's one year anniversary. We celebrated all weekend, nice dinners, sunsets, laying on the beach.. I am going to post a pic of me in my bathing suit, its funny...

HOw have you been? Did you guys come up with a name yet?
Hope you had a great fourth :D

Daisey - Tuesday, 8 July
Your son's movement description sounds exactly like mine. Good to know. I'm hoping that means he's going to be a mellow little guy. :-) He's becoming pretty real to me. I came home from a camping trip this holiday weekend with swollen feet and ankles - and an even bigger belly. I haven't bought much yet. Just one onesie jumper and a sun hat. I'm getting a lot of things from family. I will need a stroller, though. What kind are you getting?

sparklyval - Monday, 7 July
Hi! JBJ certainly looks amazing for 46 and he can definitely still sing! Richie Sambora isn't doing too badly either. In fact the whole band are amazing - there are not many bands that have managed to stay together for so many years. I guess that it will be a couple of years before they tour the UK again so hopefully by then the baby will be old enough for us to be able to leave her for a night. I will be looking out for the tour dates so that I can make plans and be sure to see them again!! JBJ looks better with his short hair, but his teeth positively GLOW these days!! I think 'nature' may have had a little help there!!

Good luck with your glucose test tomorrow. I hope that you can avoid G diabetes. I write to another lady on here that has it and her diet sounds very complicated. I am not sure that I would be very good at controlling what I eat. Talking of eating, some days I just seem SO hungry. I could eat non stop. I keep worrying about gaining too much weight. I can feel the extra weight now...I have increased in weight quite a bit over the last month. Like you I sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable and going up lots of stairs can make me puff and pant like a very unfit person!!

At the weekend, my husband and I decided to make a start on some major re-organising work in the girls bedroom and our spare bedroom. We had bought some new bedroom furniture on Tuesday last week for the room that the girls share. It was always going to be an enormous task (mostly because the spare bedroom has been used as a bit of a 'junk' room over the last few years). The room intended for the baby resembled a jumble sale - lots of bags of things and boxes of stuff to sort out!!

After a great deal of work over the weekend all the new furniture is installed in the girls bedroom and all of the contents are back in wardrobes etc as it should be. There is less junk in the spare room and the 3 pieces of furniture that were in Bethan and Kate's room have been transferred to the spare room, ready for the baby things to go into. It actually resembles a bedroom now at last!!

I must admit though it feels really good to have got on so well, we didn't really expect to get so much done - and the house is beginning to look much better organised. I am trying to get as much done before the start of the school holidays in the hope that I can have 5-6 weeks of time with the girls without the stress of having to do too many large-scale jobs.

I hope it doesn't appear that I am stressing too much over preparations for this baby!! I think it is mostly to do with the fact that Kate starts school in September and I don't want too much to do last minute so that I have time to make sure she settles OK.

I am counting the weeks down until the girls finish school and I bet you are counting the weeks until your two girls go back to school!! I hope you are enjoying the holidays. Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. xx

Hi!
I know right where the Sony studios are!

I'm feeling a lot of movement too, it's exciting. I haven't had leg cramps...but I've heard they are really painful! Ouch! I have my check up next week...I'm assuming my glucose test will be soon too.

I'm feeling great! How about you? Just getting rounder, feel like I'm carrying a basketball...and look it too. My kids go back Sept. 2! I'm getting nervous, my son starts high school....just takes time getting used to the whole new routine of a new school and all.

Daisey - Tuesday, 1 July
Yeah, well this is my first and last pregnancy so I don't want to miss a thing. I want everything documented. :-) The difference in my size from morning to night still amazes me.

Me, too, about getting up from the floor, or even bed. About two weeks ago it started to hurt when engaging my stomach muscles to get out of bed. I have to roll over now and push myself up.

I am definitely feeling him move more this past week but not a lot. What is a lot anyway?? :-) I've nothing to compare it to. How about you? And is this your last one or is there potential for you to be "shocked" once more?

sparklyval - Wednesday, 25 June
Hi! Thank you for your message. I have been struggling to get chance to keep up with messages during the last week. You will understand how busy things get in the run up to the children finishing school for the summer vacation! We have about 4 weeks until they break up. Things have been a little hectic to say the least!

Pregnancy-wise things are OK here with me. I am feeling a little tired, but I have had a really busy few days. It was the Bon Jovi concert on Sunday. My husband and I managed to get a night away without the children to see them play in Manchester (which is about 2 hours by car from where we live). Although I have seen them play a few times now, this was probably the best concert of theirs I have been to and lived up to all my expectations. I hadn't realised that Jon Bon Jovi is 46 now, because he seemed to have the energy of someone half the age!! They played for 2 hours 45 minutes and the music was outstanding! It was very strange to be away from the children for so long (we haven't had a night away from them for over a year), but it was lovely to have some time alone with my husband. Somehow I think it will be the last time for quite a while (years even!!) with a new baby due soon. I am hoping that if Bon Jovi return to the UK in a couple of years that I will be able to get to see them again - one night is just not enough!

It is good to hear that the baptism went well and wasn't too exhausting. It is always good to have the chance to catch up with family. I am due to visit my parents and brothers at the end of July. I haven't seen one of my brothers for over a year now, so a visit is well overdue.

You are absolutely right about not needing very much for a newborn baby. Although I have got most of what we need in the loft, I keep meaning to get my husband to check what is up there! We have all the big stuff (pram, cot, baby seat, carseat etc), but I can't remember what clothes I kept and what I gave away. While we were away for the concert my husband and I managed to have a short shopping trip to buy the baby its 'first' outfit to wear in hospital when she is born. It was really nice to have the chance to do that bit of shopping together without any interruptions from the girls!

Your holiday trip will be fine...7 months pregnant is still far enough away from your due date. I am more concerned as I will be closer to 8 months pregnant when we go away. I am just going to live dangerously - there is no way I am cancelling our holiday! Anyway there are hospitals etc where we are going

I am off to veg out in front of the tv for a short while before bed...not up to anything more mentally taxing! I hope you have had a good weekend.

stacy5175 - Wednesday, 25 June
I went to high school in culver city!!! Grew up basically there, where does your brother live in C.C? Yeah, I hear you can get soooo much more for your money in Atlanta! We are in San Diego now on vacation, a short one :) It's beautiful here! I've been feeling her kick a lot lately too!

maha55 - Tuesday, 24 June
Hi nice to hear from you...I moved house and didnt get a chance to settle before I flew to Melbourne (over 1500km from where I am )..to take bellydance for birth workshops..was really lovely to do whilst pregnant...got home last night and catching up, settling in and starting big promotion and marketing on my book.....
Am feeling alot bigger and getting uncomfortable under the big boobs with pressure rising....trying to eat small meals and NO FAT as had a couple of gall bladder issues (also feels like my back gets out)..when I was away..eating out..being careful but u never know what is in restaraunt foods...

So time is ticking 24 1/2 weeks....keep thinking I have to give birth in 14 - 16 weeks!! wow...still cant quite believe it..how is your family and your pregnancy???
xxxx

Daisey - Sunday, 22 June
I think I made it! Got my results and all counts are in the normal range. Let's hope I get the same at my 24-28 week test.
