My husband and I are now 20 weeks pregnant today and we couldn't be more excited. We found out that we are expecting in February of 2008 with our second child. We waited quite a while because our son is 5 years old now but it was worth the wait. I went to my 16 week appointment only to find that we are expecting not one but two babies. We were very shocked because we do not have twins in our families. We feel so blessed and cannot wait to see our bundles of joy. Our son Cade Michael is just as anxious and excited as we are. We are expecting a boy and a girl. We have a name for the girl and a middle name for the boy but we are still working on the first name for our little boy. The girl's name will be Abby Lynn and the boy's middle name is going to be Eric after his father and grandfather. Any suggestions for a first name for our little boy are welcomed. I look forward to chatting with all of you and sharing this experience with other mothers like me.

Well yesterday was my second ultrasound and everything is looking great. I have been able to maintain a good sugar level by diet control therefore no meds are needed yet for my gestational diabetes. My anemia is also under control but with the help of meds on that. The twins are growing very well and right on target according to my doctor and I am as well. My stomach is measuring at 23 cm and I have gained a total of 9 lbs now. The girl, Abby, weighs 13 oz and the boy, DJ, weighs 12 oz. They were very active and full of personality already. I cannot wait to welcome them to the world.

Today was another doctor's appointment. I am measuring at 30 cm and the development looks well. The doctor is concerned about me not gaining much weight though. He wants me to stray from my gestational diabetes diet a little to put on a few pounds. I have only gained 8 lbs so far and I should have gained almost double that according to standards. I think that I am losing weight in my legs, arms and face but gaining belly so I am trying not to worry about it too much. It is not fun to be on a strict diet when you are pregnant. I can vouch for that. There are so many times that I crave something but I cannot have it. I am dealing with it very well though. I do not get cravings too often this time around thank goodness. That is about it for now. I will update later when I find out more.

I had my third ultrasound today. I will post the pics soon. My husband was able to go with me for this one so it was great. Neither of the babies would face the camera though. They kept hiding their faces. They were already fighting in there too. We saw the little boy's foot kicking the little girl's head and then we saw her push his foot out of her face. It was really funny. The babies are growing great. The little boy is 1 lb 13 oz and the little girl is 1 lb 8 oz. They appear to be right on track according to the doctor. I am so happy about that. I worry about them not getting enough nutrition because I am not gaining much weight. They are definitely getting enough so I am at ease for this month. :o) I go back to my OB on the 1st so I will see what he has to say about my progress. I will update again then.
