28 November 2007 - I am so glad i joined this forum...everyone is really friendly and amidst work stress and being far away from good friends, it's good ot hav ppl who r going to the same stuff to share stories and advice with. I'm busy prepping for my trip to Portugal - hope Smouse will be fine but the doc has okayed the trip and everything was fine at the last appointment so all should be good. I fly for 11 hours to Heathrow and then take a two hour flight to portugal from there... my first trip overseas and smouse's first too! :)

Hey there fellow South African!! How are you feeling? See you are due couple of days before me! Are you excited yet, or nervous??

MommyInMay - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Hey...well congrats on your pregnancy. So what are you having...boy/girl?? Really the only thing people have said to take to the hospital is about 3-4 outfits for baby, passy, 3-4 blankets, and the clothes that you will wear. Im trying to get my bags ready now:) Not too much longer. Im so excited!!

I am SO sorry to hear about this. I really hope that the pain can be under control. You might want to talk to Bobbett89 she is in our week and has a sent placed in for kidney stones. I sure hope you feel better. Keep that baby in there:)

Guess What!!! My husband called my Dr. today and had a conversation with her about me and he insisted on putting me out because of the spotting and low back pain! She totally changed her tune. He is more direct then me. I am so more relieved! No more 12 hour work days!!!!

well i work in real estate insurance here in Orange County California. The industry as a whole has gone down the tubes and they laid a bunch of people off so I am basically doing the job of about 2 people plus my job. I have been working about 12 hours a day and I have been feeling very stressed out and just horrible. I have told her how my work is and her responce is well when there is a medical reason to put you out I can. She said she has to have a medical reason to put me out on disablity so I can get paid. I just went in today because i have been having cramping, back pain and some spotting over the weekend. She is going to run some tests and I have to call back to find out the results. I just told her I am scared and very stressed out at work. Its like she does not even hear the words. Its like oh ok thats cool well lets see how the tests are but no comment about putting me out. I am so frusterated and I have been a mess crying about it. Did you have to tell your dr. point blank you wanted to be put out or could they sence it and suggested it to you???

I have exactly the same problem, my little boy can be so active one day and dead quite for 2 or 3 days. I defiantly dont feel as many as 20 kicks in half an hour, but I dont worry about it any more as I've been to the docs so many times to check his heartbeat. So long as you feel 10 movements a day my midwife says that the baby's fine. She told me that she doesn't like to use the kick count method as every baby is different and they all lie in different ways. I hadn't felt him kick at all today and he's only just started to scrape his fingers along the bottom of my bump, so movement but still no kicking today LOL

1stimemommy - Tuesday, 11 Mar
I wouldn't be worried about the movement. All babies are different. You really can't compare your babies movements to another babies. It is more about what is normal for your baby. If you notice a decrease in movements suddenly then call your doctor but as long as she has always been quiet then that is probably just her personality. :)

Doc wasn't sure why everyone feeling worse this week...could be our stomachs are smashed up and it causes more heartburn/reflex....

I made it through the appointment but threw up violently afterwards. Regardless, my cervix is doing great and I am allowed to move around slowly and even get out of the house once a week:) WOO HOO

if you have the option of a c section or vag, I would try the vag. c section is a pain in the a**, lol im having my second c section only because im getting my tubes tied this time. since I had one last time, my Dr gave me the option, and I said I wanted to tie my tubes so she said well just do the c section and be done with it. but they do strap you to the table, only one person can be in the room with you, they do give you a catheter after (which is my biggest pet peeve in the hole situation), and you will need ALOT of help for at least a month after surgery. its just not as easy as it sounds...believe it or not, a vag delivery is much more easier. Granted they do provide lots of drugs to keep you as comfortable as they possablly can, but i would advise you to try it the natural way. but good luck to you either way :)

Hi Shola, I was reading your comment, and I thought about the choice myself, until I researched it. I'm going for natural birth, it's overall healthier on the short and long run. Many risks of complications are there for c-section, that is why it is usually the last resort.
our bodies will expel all the substance it needs to expel, reducing risks of leaving behind unwanted potentially harmful or cancer causing residue. Good luck!

HollieNJax - Tuesday, 4 Mar
Did they give you a choice between the two? Sometimes when someone refers to a natural birth they mean without pain meds. If this is your first child and there are no problems I'm confused as to why you would even be given the choice of the C-section. Maybe they meant the meds? Anyways, if you do get the choice....try to give birth vaginally first. This is so much easier on your body. If a problem arises during labor they can always do a section but I wouldn't opt for it as my first choice. The baby benefits from the 'squeeze' of a vaginal birth and you do not have to go through surgery which is what the C-section is. Your recovery time will be much less as would any complications and pain afterwards. I would go for vaginal.

Well I LOVE that idea. If my hubby didn't have to do EVERYTTHING with me being so sick I would SO have him do that as well. Make sure to tell you hubby he isn't allowed to complaing because you go through that every single day lol

MommyJewels - Monday, 25 Feb
P.S. I love the idea of having your hubby carry the watermelon..that is great!

MommyJewels - Monday, 25 Feb
I'm sorry you couldn't sleep. Do you guys have OTC 'Unisom'? That is what I have been taking during my pregnancy. It's safe and it helps with nausea too:)

MommyJewels - Thursday, 21 Feb
Good sounds like fun! What are you doing for your shower?

MommyJewels - Thursday, 21 Feb
How are you doing today? I am so glad that you are enjoying some YOU time. Going to the pool sounds great!

bdubb - Wednesday, 20 Feb
Glad to hear that other people are handling stress a little differently as well. That is great that you will be able to take special leave and focus on you and the baby and hopefully leave the stress behind. I can't wait to see my little one as well and love his little kicks and flips - although lately he has been kicking in my ribs (that I could do without). When will/has your special leave started?

mommyjewels - Monday, 18 Feb
I am so jealous! I'm on strict bed rest. I have been in bed most of the pregnancy and I haven't been bored yet. If I could just go somewhere other than the bathroom. You are so lucky!

Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy! I am so glad you are breaking from work...enjoy life. Each day is so precious.

Layls - Monday, 18 Feb
