Hello everyone, my name is Dani and I am married to Ewan. We have 8 healthy children and are blessed with another one on the way.

Our eldest 2 children are married and our 3rd eldest is also out working in the big wide world. I homeschool our remaining 5 children that are still at home. I am currently expecting our 9th wee blessing.

We are living in a double garage with a few sleepout huts for bedrooms while we build our new house so our lifestyle is interesting to say the least. We live on 6.5acres in the South Island of New Zealand.

My husband had a vasectomy after Toby was born, 4 1/2 yrs ago and then we had a change of heart and had a reversal done in May this year. Praise God it worked!!!

I look forward to chatting with heaps of you. Please don't be shy. Leave me a message and I will endeavour to answer asap.

Tuesday, 4 Dec
10wks yesterday. I weighed myself and I've lost 1.5kg of the 2kg that I gained the week before so only a small weight gain so far this time. Most unusual for me, especially considering how much i'm eating. I have 1 breakfast, 2 morning snacks, lunch, 2 afternoon snacks, a big dinner and an evening snack. Dont know where its all going.

Wednesday, 5 Dec
M/s vanished on Tuesday, but came back with a vengeance on Wednesday afternoon/evening. I feel very definite flutters and have been for a week now. Impossible or not. . .I know what I'm feeling.

Thursday, 6 Dec
I'm so tired today, and thats after a good nights sleep. (meaning I only had to get up once to pee)
M/s is hovering in the distance today. Not bothering me but every now and then I get that yucky metalic taste in my mouth and feel seedy at the same time. All in all I think its improving. Busting to get to week 11 but won't let myself jump ahead and start reading comments from there yet. Roll on Monday.

Thursday, 13 Dec

Yay I had my scan today. I have 1 very active wee baby. Seems to be the right size for my dates. It was so lovely to see him/her moving and waving little arms around. Will have another scan at 20wks.

See how my baby is doing

Saturday, 15 Dec
Hooray!!! This is my 3rd day in a row with no morning sickness. I feel the baby move quite regularly thru the day too. Its so exciting.

Sunday, 16 Dec

Yay 12wks today. I get to meet my midwife today. Shes coming for the first time so I'll get to hear the baby's heartbeat.
And my m/s is definitely gone. HOORAY!! Today is my 5th day without any sign of it. Praise God!

Check out the following site. Just copy and paste it into the address bar. Amazing in utero photos.

YAHOOOOOOO!!! 14wks. I made it to the 2nd trimester. No more morning sickness, not as much tiredness. In fact I hardly feel pregnant at all. I feel the odd wee movements. But not really showing much yet which is really unusual for me. I guess its because I completely changed my eating habits 4mths ago. So this pregnancy I `m only gaining baby weight instead of fat. Usually I gain so much fat when I `m pregnant. I was 96kg just b4 I had my last baby. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Sunday, 6 Jan
Woohoo!! 15weeks. I can hardly believe its only 5 more weeks and I `ll be halfway. The silly thing is that now that morning sickness has gone, I don `t even feel pregnant anymore. Not that I `m complaining, but I am looking forward to feeling much stronger movements. I still only feel the occasional little flutter. Still, its good to be healthy and thankfully not gaining too much weight.

Tuesday, 22 Jan
17 WEEKS. Glad to be here too. Lots of all day headaches lately but other than that I have loads of energy and feel great in between times. Looking forward to halfway.

Wednesday, 30 Jan

My pregnancy ticker:

Create yours at BlingyBlob.com!

9th April........... 28 WEEKS..........Finally an update...

I have just completed a good morning of schooling 4 of my children. I always feel much happier when I have accomplished something worthwhile.

Anyway on with my update...................I am 28 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I haven't updated in ages because I always seem to be busy with other things and when I do get the time I just can't be bothered. Lazy or what????

I had my glucose test yesterday but have not had the results yet. This doesn't bother me because I've never had this test before and gestational diabetes has not been a problem with my past pregnancies so I'm not expecting any trouble.

My lovely wee baby is very active at times, particularly when I lie down to rest. I am just starting to get feet up near my ribs and bigger sweeping movements across the wall of the uterus.

Baby's head is down and I am now starting to get discomfort as he/she moves against my cervix. I know this can get extremely uncomfortable nearer the end so not looking forward to that part but hey......its all part and parcel of the blessing of pregnancy.

Well I think thats me up to date again.

:)

wow - 6 home births - that is amazing. I am sure for you they are no big deal by now. It is funny how freaked out I have made everyone by wanting a home birth.
Did you have any sort of pain relief for any of your births? and did you do water births at all? I am wondering at how I'm going to cope with the pain - I don't want to freak out and start screaming the house down for an epidural when there will not be one in sight :)

thanks for your comment! I also love the idea of being at home in my own bed and in my space! The idea of a nurse or doctor taking my baby away for any amount of time makes me crazy!! I think a lot of people I know think I'm a little crazy to do it at home, but I am in love with the idea! In another week I will be in the clear that if I go into labor it will be fine to do it at home, instead of worrying about being too early to go at home! But as its my first, I'll probably go quite a bit longer than that, haha. Thanks again!

Hi there, I saw your post on the AMA page & I think that's great that you found such an optimistic & understanding dr! My dr is actually the same way about age. I'm 35 & pg w/ my 1st, so she gave me info about tests, etc, but presents stuff in a really positive way - and immediately dropped the subject when I told her there was no way I wanted any testing b/c I'd never abort my baby anyway. I get tired of people assuming we'll have issues simply due to age. It's good to be realistic, but even better to just be optimistic! :) Hope all continues to go well for you...

That's really cool. You are over halfway done. Is it going by fast or slow? It is really hard for me to believe that I am almost done being pregnant and so close to meeting my little girl!

noodle - Tuesday, 26 Feb
I hear ya, lady. I'm huge too but I love it (mostly)...I found out it's a boy so our oldest (only boy) gets a brother finally. (: My husband is in the middle of a job change...trusting HIM...

noodle - Monday, 25 Feb
How are you doing? haven't heard from you in a bit. Hope you're well!

jessicahedden - Friday, 22 Feb
It doesn't cost anything? So you don't need insurance or anything? That is just so weird to me, everything costs money here, especially medical things. I am just glad my insurance covers it all.

JessicaHedden - Thursday, 21 Feb
I always wondered how home births work. Who is the one that delivers the baby? Does your insurance cover the person coming to deliver the baby? I think that if all goes well with this labor and delivery, it being unmedicated and all, I may really consider doing a home birth with our next baby. How big was your biggest baby? How small was the smallest? Sorry if I ask too many questions :)

jessicahedden - Thursday, 21 Feb
I have been trying to relax, but it is so hard knowing that it could be any day. I really hope she comes before her due date. I am trying not to keep my hopes up though. I am just trying to make sure that I have everything ready in case she decides to come soon. Did you have your babies naturally or medicated? How long was your longest labor? How long was your shortest?

JessicaHedden - Monday, 18 Feb
Is anyone putting in guesses on what they think the sex of the baby is? The majority of people said they thought I was having a boy, but the u/s tech said girl. I hope she is right because I have bought so many purple and pink things it is crazy. I am down to the last few weeks and I am starting to get uncomfortable and anxious. I can't wait until the big day!!

jessicahedden - Monday, 18 Feb
Wow, your 9th baby. I think that is amazing. My aunt has 6 children and they told her that she shouldn't have anymore because of her uterus thinning too much from all of the pregnancies. I hope all goes well with your pregnancy. Do you have more boys or girls? ~Jessica

missellie - Sunday, 17 Feb
wow congratulations.. number nine!!! thanks you very much for your welcoming it is all so scary now but hopfully things will settle in a couple of months. was it hard being only 17?

mommyagain9th - Friday, 8 Feb
Good morning, (for me anyway lol). To answer your question. No I do not home school. My sister-in-law did it for a long time though. I work full time and my husband is 'Mr. Mom' and stays home with the kids. I just registered my daughter for high school yesterday. Now I'll have 3 in high school. One will do her 1st communion this year/ and one her confirmation. There ages are: 16, 15, 14, 11, 8, 6, 4, 2. Do you come from a large family as well? I'm the youngest of 12 children.

mommyagain9th - Thursday, 7 Feb
Thank you so much for your response. I luv hearing that I'm not the only one with a big family. I have never 'tried' for any of my pregnancies. I am so blessed that God has given me so many precious little gifts...My last 5 were also born at home with a midwife. lol You are a wonderful lady...
We also live on 4 acres of land. I love the simple life .... We have everything we need...

noodle - Tuesday, 5 Feb
I've heard that too, so I attributed not feeling really anything last preg. till 20 weeks, to that. This baby is up front-I can feel him/her in a ball most times, wherever he/she is, and the little kicks I get (got one this AM) are ever so light but one was pretty strong the other day. I think they are just not as strong till after 20 weeks too. My oldest girl got an ear infection out of the blue-doc wants her on an allergy med-praying about that one. Then she came down with nasty cold and fever.

noodle - Tuesday, 5 Feb
How are you? I am pretty good other than sick kids. My emotions are not catching up with my prayers, thoughts, and brain. Tell me it's ok that though I've felt baby for a couple of weeks most days, it's ok that many days I still only feel maybe 1-2 movements. I'm only 16w 3d. (: Hope to find out gender Fri.

me6 - Sunday, 3 Feb
That's great! What an experience that had to be! I'm so happy for you! :)

me6 - Saturday, 2 Feb
I'm so excited...I hit the 30 week mark today! Now for the longest stretch in pregnancy!
Your daughter is getting married? Congradulations! That's incredible! That's got to be a sad yet amazing feeling for you. I couldn't even imagine. :)

me6 - Friday, 1 Feb
Hello. Just thought that I'd stop by to say 'Hello' and to see how is everything going?

Glad you sound like you're feeling good? Have you ever had someone rub witch hazel on both sides of your spine, up and down, when you have a headache? That and Tylenol seem to help! It's suppose to cool your blood.

moopster - Sunday, 27 Jan
everyone's weight gain is different. depends on your genetics and even the individual pregnancy. your doctor will tell you if you've gained too much, so don't sweat it. i've gained quite a bit, but i used to box--now my doctor doesn't even want me running. it's all good.
