My name is Ashley and I am 23 years old. I am pregnant with my first baby and it's a boy. I have been married to my husband for 1.5 yrs, we've been together for 3.5 yrs. So far this pregnancy has been wonderful. No morning sickness, no moodiness, no special cravings, just a bigger appetite and belly. :) That's pretty much how I knew it was a boy... the belly size. I am going to have a hypnobirth and girls let me tell you that the class on hypnobirthing is GREAT! I would highly recommend it. No drugs, all baby and me during labor. Mike and I have picked out a name for our son, it will be Adam Michael Simpers. I'm very excited and can't wait to meet him face to face.

Hello Im also a firsttime mom and very interested in Hypnobirth which I just found out about today on your page. I am determined to have a natural birth but I feel undermined by other mothers who have taken drugs and react on the negitive side when i speak about my choice. I find myself not even sharing that information anymore which is terrible sad for me because wehave no family in GA where we live and I know i need a support system in place if my family doesnt make it up in time for the birth. They dont have any classes here and the materials are on the expensive side since we are on a very fixed income at the moment. Can you give me any info on the matter or do you know anyone who is selling their used materials or would be willing to share them? I did see The Business of Being Born 3 times and it makes me cry my eyes out. I am really scared of being bombared into doing things I dont want to do by doctors so much so that I switch to the midwives. Thank You so much for any information you can give me I really appreciate it.

Just wanted to answer your question about the checking for dialation. I had one done at 6 months as all women generally do and then will start my weekly check ups starting at week 36 and that's also when they'll start doing the physical exams to check if I'm dialating. I hope this helps!

Hi! I just wanted to say thanks for adding me as a friend. How is JAX? I miss it so much. Dr. Friedman was my ob/gyn at NAS and she was wonderful. I am delivering at Portsmouth Naval here in VA and they too have recently renovated their birthing suites. The medical isnt great care here but its free so who am I to complain. i like the midwife I see most of the time, but I do miss having a dr one-on-one. i havent heard of any classes offered here but I guess Ill have to check it out. Ihope all is well with you and your baby. talk to ya soon. kelly

Hey I just saw your post.. I have the same thing with some spotting and cramps... I feel like someone punched my pelvic area down there and hurts even when i am laying down. My doctor called me and said the baby most likely dropped and is getting into position. and the spotting was pressure from a broken blood vessel... I guess she is getting ready to come out soon!!

Thanks again for sending the information on hypnobirthing. My husband and I are traveling to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida this weekend, and so he said I can read some of the book to him on the way. The cd will help and the notes. Thanks again.

My husband and I watched the Business of Being Born movie. He was impressed and said that it was actually very good. I was surprised he even wanted to watch it with me.

Hey I read your post, i actually went to the hospital yesterday because I thought i was leaking fluid. It turns out that is was a combination of my bladder leaking and just some other vaginal secretions and thats why it felt wetter than normal. But if you are worried about it you should go check it out, even though I got sent home, I'm glad I went.

Me too! I wake up b/c Im hot and so I turn the a/c down, and then use the bathroom. I do this like at least 3 times a night! I hope this goes away after the baby comes.

Hi, simpers, good comment:) Yes, why people just say "How beautiful you look" Really this is the only remark I want to hear now:) Hope you doing well:) It is very interesting that you are going to have hypnobirth. I am of course scared to death, since my last labor was awful, so I caved in and decided on epidural, but I do believe that our mind has great resources that we only need to learn how to use. And in any case, it is very useful to learn self-hypnosis. Wish you luck.

THANKS FOR THE TASTEBUD INFO.!!! :)

It's funny that all the people who have responded with a positive, "I'm hypnobirthing," are under age 23.

gr8scottswife - Thursday, 24 April
Please let me know how the birthing goes. I will follow up with you in July.

I am reading the book. We do not have classes here in Mississippi for hypnobirthing (or much of anything else really). I'm relying solely on the book, and the challenge is getting my husband to participate, and I really need him to as it is hard to read the book and try to relax at the same time. I can't really see myself giving myself a massage, either. Best wishes. I can't wait to hear from you.

ur not alone i have had the same thing for the last 3 days. Opposite of constipation, and all the stomach aches to go with. mylanta tabs work a lil but tums dont work at all.

crystalwinds88 - Friday, 18 April
That is the only back pain i get.. its right above the tail bone and nothin relieves it... i got my husband to push once really hard right there and something popped really loud and it hurt ALOT... then when he moved his hand, it popped back into the original location... but the pain wasnt so severe... he does that about evry 2 days... he also said its like the popper in the ''sorry'' game...lol ... im hoping to go see a chiropractor to get it fixed bc i stand all day at work and the pain maked it hard to even bend over to rest... wish i could go on maternity leave now but hubby has been out of a job for 3 mo.... so i have to keep the money rolling in...

Wigles16 - Thursday, 17 April
Yeah! My back hurts too like I almost cry when I have to sit up from laying down its a struggle I tried popping my tailbone and I was like OH GOODNESS NO so I dont think I will be trying that anytime soon I'm ready for some pain relief in 10 weeks!

you will want to take nursing pads , Femanine pads, extra underwear, a nursing bra if u plan to nurse-if not you will need bottles, bottle water and formula in case ,Diapers, wipes, pacifier if u want to use one, a burp cloth, a recieving blanket, and possibly a blanket to cover your carseat when you go out either for sun or wind it works for both ,A cap - even if its hot where u live the ac in your car is hard blowin on their heads right away& gloves in case they scratch their selves some babies do &some dont, hope some of this might be helpful

Thank you soooo much for your reply! My husband and sister keep telling me not to worry, but it really means something different coming from another pregnant woman. Thanks again!

pandaspenguin - Wednesday, 26 Mar
My dr has me on pre eclampsia risk as well, mostly because of swelling, though my blood pressure was up more than usual at my last appointmnet. As far as how to keep it down, it was recommended to watch my salt intake, and to drink LOTS. (I swear if i drink anymore water im going to turn into a fish... lol) Keep an eye on your stress levels too, cause they can make your BP jump. I hope everything goes good for you :)
