Well today, Katie went to the dr. for her 2month checkup and shots! She did wonderful getting her shots, she only cried for a second! She weighs 9lbs 6oz. now! She is growin like a weed! The dr. changed her formula to Enfamil A.R. and advised me to use Dr. Browns bottles. The dr. also advised me that since Katie was still having spitting up issues that he wanted me to quit breastfeeding her for a week and just pump. He is wanting to see if she quits throwing up, he thinks that her body may be having trouble digesting my milk. We'll see and if no throw up I may quit breastfeeding, although I hate too, I have to do whatever is in Katie's best intrest! Well that is all for now! I will post a couple new pics in the photo album. Katie is wakin up from her nap.

Well today Katie had to go have an ultrasound of her pylorus to rule out pyloric stenosis. Everything checked out just fine on the scan, it is just acid reflux. The dr. changed her from Zantac to Prevacid so hopefully the throwing up will slow down soon! She weighed 6lbs 10oz today, the dr. was very pleased with her weight gain! Today is also my son, Wyatt's 5th birthday! It's hard to believe I have a 5yr old, seems like he was just born yesterday!

Well Katie is 3 weeks old today! Gosh it so hard to believe, it seems like I just brought her home from the hospital! Well, we're almost 2 weeks into using the Zantac I think it's helping a little, but not much. She still throws up alot, but it's not with every feeding, it's about 2 times a day, and one of the two times will be massive amounts! Last nite Katie had her first bad belly ache, and I had my first melt down! I tried everything I knew to do to soothe her and it just wasn't working after 2hrs of her screaming, I just broke down and balled my eyes out too! I hated the fact that she was in pain and I couldnt help her! It was also going on 11pm and my 5 yr old, Wyatt had been in bed asleep and Katie's crying woke him up. He wanted me to come and lay down with him and I couldn't bc Katie was still screamin so then Wyatt cried. We had a Big tear fest at my house last nite, LOL! Today is much better though, Thank Goodness!

Well Katie went back to the Dr. today for a weight check to see if she had gained any weight and see if the Zantac is working! We get there and the nurse has me strip Katie down to just her diaper. She takes her down the hall to weigh her and I sit in the room, a nervous wreck! The nurse comes back in the room and says, "Well, she needed to weigh at least 6lbs today to be in the clear. But mommy, Katie weighs 6lbs 2oz!" I was sooo excited, I could have shouted from the rooftop! LOL.. The dr. came in and was very pleased with her weight gain.
He said she needed to have gained at least an ounce a day and she had gained a lil more than that each day since her last visit! We are going to stay on the Zantac and see if it keeps helping with the acid reflux. Finally things are looking up for my lil Katie Bug! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! Katie and I both appreciate them!

Well today Katie went for her 2week check-up! Over the past little bit, Katie has begun throwing up with every feeding! I shared this experience with the pediatrician today and he got to see it first hand as I fed Katie while we were in his office and he walked in just as she projectile vomitted across the room! Katie weighed 5lbs 11oz today and was still 19in long! The dr. is a little worried about her not gaining weight. He sent us to the lab to have several tests drawn. He did a CBC, TSH, T Bili, and a UA. The dr. said that he thinks her throwing up is just acid reflux, but it could also possibly be something called pyloric stenosis. I was so upset to get this news, as Katie has been through so much already! It just broke my heart, all I could do is cry for her! Well I am a little better now, the dr. called back the results and everything came back great (she's a little jaundice again) therefore he wants to try her on Zantac for acid reflux and see her back in the office on Monday for a weight check and see where we are with the vomiting! Other than that, Katie got a clean bill of health!
Saturday, October 20, 2007 (8days old)
Well we have had a very busy first week to say the least! After being discharged from the hospital on the 13th, Katie had to go back to have her billirubin levels checked that Monday, the 15th. The level came back higher than d/c day, so we have been battling this all week! With her numbers steadily climbing, Wednesday the 17th, the dr. decided to admit her into the hospital and keep her under the bili lights for phototherapy to lower her billi count! Katie went from 19.1 Wed. to 15.4 Thurs. late afternoon! Yay The dr. let us go home but we had to have it checked again on Friday. I was sure we would have better results friday, bc Katie was eating, peeing, and pooing like a champ! Well no such luck. We went from 15.4 to 16.4, Grrr.......I could have cried when they called me the results! I felt like I was failing at something, it was soooo frustrating! It was back to the hospital again today to get checked again! I figured Katie would be admitted back into the hospital at our luck. Well, they called the results to me about 1.5hrs after the blood was drawn! Guess what..........we're out of the woods! Finally it is dropping and the dr thinks it is finally done going up, so no more blood work for now!!!! We go to the dr. this Wednesday, for Katie's 2weeks checkup! I can't believe she's already 1 week! Time has flown by!

I went to the dr. for my BPP and now not only is Katie low on amnio fluid, we failed the movement series of the test, so Dr. Jessup decided to send me on over to begin inducing! My mom went with me for my appointment, so on over to the hospital we went. I was admitted to the hospital around 5:30pm. The nurse came in and got me all hooked up, started my i.v., took my history, and checked me. I was 1cm and about 50-60% effaced. She inserted Cytotec around 6:30pm and told me that sometimes this can make people start contracting. At 10:30pm the nurse placed my second dose of Cytotec, I was begining to have small contractions, but nothing that I couldn't get through. At 11:45pm Chris(Katie's dad) arrived to the hospital. I was having contractions but not real regular, I attempted to get some sleep. At 3:30am the nurse came in and started my pitocin drip. She asked if I would like something for pain and I went ahead and got 1gram of Stadol so I could try to get some sleep bc I knew soon enough i'd be in pain and sleep wouldn't be an option. At 5:30am the nurses came in and stopped my pitocin, due to the baby's heart rate having decelerations. At 6:30am I recieved another gram of Stadol. 7:30am the nurse came in and started my pitocin back on, she also checked me I was 2cm 70% effaced. At 12:55pm Dr. Jessup came in and broke my water I was still 2cm and 70-80% effaced. At 1:20pm, the pain became soooo unbearable, I couldn't take it. The nurse checked me, I was 3cm 80-85% effaced. The nurse went ahead and called down for me to get my epidural (Thank God!) At the same time I was beging for my epidural, my grandma, aunt, and my 4yr old son, Wyatt arrived. I think I scared the living daylights out of Wyatt! I was crying and trying to breath and god love him, he didn't want to leave my side! He sat at the edge of my bed and rubbed my arm and then he would rub my back! It was sooo sweet! At 2:37pm I was dialated to 6-7cm. Finally I was making progress and had pain relief! I was like a new woman, LOL. At 3pm, I felt major pressure and the need to push. I told my mom to get the nurse bc I wasn't sure that I could control whether or not I pushed. The nurse came quickly and thank goodness the dr. was in the building, bc at 3:03pm my beautiful baby girl arrived. Katie Mary-Caroline was here weighing 5lbs 15oz and 19in long. I didn't have to have an episiotomy, nor did I tear! She was out in only 3 pushes! Her apgar scores were 8 and 9. She was perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything better! After the nursery team checked Katie over good, my son, Wyatt got to carry her to me. I was so sweet, he didn't want to give her up to me!
