9.18.07 - 8w5d - Today was our first OB appointment and we were able to see our little lima bean (as my husband is calling it LOL) - It was sooo amazing... We could see a little fluttering of the heartbeat ! There wasn't much movement to speak of, it's a little hard to tell the head from the rump at this point - I'm sure things will have changed dramatically by the time we have another ultrasound - which I am hoping is soon !! Next appt is 10.15.07 - seems like sooo far away ! No morning sickness and no weight gain to report thus far.

10.15.07 - 12w4d - No ultrasound today =( I was really hoping to see our lima bean ! We heard the heartbeat for the first time today - sounded very strong 158bpm - I think it's finally starting to sink in that this is all really happening !! According to the doctor, everything looks good and the pregnancy is progressing right on track. Next appt is 11.13.07 ! No morning sickness and 4lb weight gain thus far.

11.13.07 - 16w5d - Heard the baby's heartbeat today ! Started out at 143bpm and jumped up to 149bpm during our session - sounded strong and healthy. More bloodwork done today. Next appt is 11.21.07 - 10lb weight gain thus far (YIKES)

11.21.07 - 17w6d - Today was the BIG day ! So, we get to the doctor's office (Myself, Sean, his daughters and my mother) and Sean turns to me and say's "I'm having a weak moment, so it's your choice" meaning that If I wanted to find out the sex of the baby he'd be fine with it, I was surprised considering he really did not want to find out this entire time ! We get into the room and the ultrasound begins.... everything measured right on track, 150bpm heartbeat - It's soo amazing, our little lima bean actually looks like a little baby now ! The baby was kicking and stretching the entire time (Although I couldn't feel a thing) - So, the ultrasound tech finally asked if we want to know... and after quite a long hesitation I said yes - she scanned the baby's privates and said " IT'S A BOY !!!!!!" - I was sooo excited, the girls shrieked ! We are sooo excited to have our little baby boy - it was a fantastic Thanksgiving ! Next appt is 12.19.07 - 11lb weight gain thus far

12.19.07 - 21w6d - Regular OB visit today - Baby's heartbeat was 143bpm. No additional ultrasounds will be given unless it is deemed "medically necessary". Sean and I are considering getting the 4D ultrasound session package in a few months. No further progress on the nursery, waiting on Sean to decide on the theme (teddy bears or sailboats) - will begin after the New Year once all of the hustle and bustle dies down. Next appt 1.16.08 - 18lbs weight gain thus far - WAY too much in my opinion !!

1.16.08 - 25w6d - Regular check up today - Baby's heartbeat was 148bpm - I am measuring a little small but the doctor said my baby bump will soon catch up ! Sean started the nursery !! He chose the Kidsline Cape Cod theme (sailboats) - it's adorable ! The baby's room is painted and we have all of the Cape Cod essentials - it looks beautiful ! Next appt 2.1.08 - Glucose testing - 23lb weight gain thus far.

2.20.08 - 30w6d - I passed my Glucose test ! However, my blood panel revealed that I am slightly anemic so I will be supplementing with extra iron for the duration of my pregnancy. Regular check up today - Baby's heartbeat was 152bpm - I am measuring right on track.. Baby has been very active throughout the day, he definatley let's me know he's there and doing well. We ordered the border for the nursery this past weekend and I am currently looking for curtains to match. My baby shower is Sunday, March 2nd - I am super excited ! 4D Ultrasound scheduled for March 11th - I can't wait to see my little boy - it's been soo long ! My doctor's appts are now scheduled for every 2 weeks. Next appt 3.5.08 - non disclosure on weight gain from this point forward =) I really need to update with current belly pic !

Birth Story Tuesday 4.29.08 - I had a WONDERFUL delivery - story is as follows: Monday night 4.28.08 I was feeling contractions all night, every 20 minutes or so - not enough to go to the hospital but strong enough to keep me up throughout the night. I decided to work from home on Tuesday 4.29.08 since i was very tired from the previous nights activities. I felt nothing all day Tuesday, no contractions - nada ! Considering I was already 3 day's past due at this point, I was very anxious. I spent the day working, doing laundry and mopped my floors twice (trying anything to get labor to ensue). Sean got home from work around 5pm - We decided to have sex in a desperate attempt to get my labor going... Around 6pm I started having mild contractions that was accompanied by minor bleeding.. I called my OB hotline and the nurse I spoke to indicated the bleeding could have been brought on by sex or that my body could be preparing for labor - she advised that I wait it out and not head to the hospital at that time. My contractions progressed and I decided to take a warm bath around 8pm, by the time I got out of the bath the contractions were very strong so I finished packing my hospital bag. I started timing my contractions around 9pm, they were coming pretty quickly and I kept feeling the urge to push with each contraction. My contractions were between 2-2:30 minutes apart ! I knew then that I was in trouble and had to get the hospital as soon as possible ! My main concern was that I was Group B positive and I should have gotten to the hospital hours before delivery in order to receive the proper doses of antibiotics in order to protect the baby. I was having hard contractions all the way to the hospital with my husband telling me not to push the whole time ! We arrived at the hospital at 9:50pm - once all of the paperwork was filled out I was taken to the Triage area so I could be checked to confirm whether I was far enough in my labor to be admitted to the hospital. The second the nurse checked me she said she could feel the sac and urged me not to push with my contractions - I was fully dialated and thinned out. With me strapped in the bed, she started running me towards the elevator - once we were on the delivery floor, she rushed past the anesthesiologist who asked if his services were needed, as we rushed past him I raised my hand and shouted "YES PLEASE" - had he not been there at that moment, it would have been too late for me to receive any type of relief. He administered the epidural and my doctor arrived within 15 minutes - she broke my waters and our son was born 8 minutes later at 11:02pm ! I am thankful that I received the epidural, I received just enough to take the edge off of the contractions but I could still feel everything for the most part. Due to my fast delivery there was no time for any antibiotics for the Group B - because the baby was born so quickly he was very low risk to have any effects from the Group B. All of the nurses joked that with my next baby I should "camp out at the hospital" since generally your second baby comes faster than the first ! I am very happy with my delivery and I had a perfect 6lb 11oz baby boy when all was said and done... All in all my labor was approx 5hrs long ! I am enjoying motherhood and can't imagine my life any other way !
