My First Baby...On Her Way!

Hello, I guess I’ll tell you a little about my self...I’m 24 years old and expecting my first baby with my husband. I have been married for a little more than a year but have spent eight years prior to marriage with him! i am high risk due to diabetes, i was considered boarder line diabetic when i was 18 but now i currently have to use insulin. also at the age of 18 I was told i had pcos and i do not ovulate. do to the pcos it was a extra small chance that i would be able to conceive, by the way let me add that i hardly ever got my period do to unbalanced hormones...making it hard to get pregnant. well I gave up! what do you know 5 years later I’m expecting my blessing, i hank God every kick i feel!

I'm now a few days away from being 8 1/2 months! i am just now experiencing heart burn, once again morning sickness and shortness of breath. i see my ob/gyn once a week, starting this week. he has ordered NST ( non stress testing) once every other week due to the fact of one dizzy spell i had. i have gotten ultra sounds once every month and as of today gained only 12 lbs. i cant wait to see what we have created!

I'm not sure where you live, but if you have a Bath and Body Works around you can try them. They are having a HUGE sale right now with alot of things buy one get one free or buy one get TWO free!! Just a thought....

A good idea for baby shower prizes is the kitchen aisle at walmart. Things like a really pretty glass or plastic drink pitcher, kitchen knick knacks, bowl sets, are great. One gift I had at my sisters shower was a rolling pin which turned out to be the joke of the day. So, 1-2 funny gifts are good too :)

I went to bath and body works for baby shower gifts and spent about 5.50 each on 7 gifts. They are having there semi annual sale ( same company as Victoria secret, they do it at the same time every year) and got lots of goodies.... also Victoria secret has lip glosses and what not too.......

For prizes...bath and body works has 75 percent off going on right now...i think until this weekend, but I would try sooner since they are selling like crazy. We got a ton of stuff for like $2.30 per large bottle

Hi there - read your question about baby shower gifts....You said no more than $3 but what do you think about something like $5 Starbucks (or whatever coffee place is in your area)? I only say $5 b/c that is the smallest denomination they have. I know that I never go to those places b/c they are so expensive just for some coffee, so if I got a little gift card from there, I would think it was a nice little treat. This also depends on how many little prizes you have to buy too. If it's only 3, then $15 for prizes isn't that much. Just an idea!

I agree with megcblu about doing something edible...it can be a nice little decadent treat or a couple beautiful handmade cookies or specialty candies. a friend of mine had these really small sage smudge sticks created for her baby boy and had tags with the baby's name on them...good luck with your shower! I am having mine after the baby arrives...

Everyone likes chocolate!!! At my shower, a few good chocolates(the kind they sell separately in chocolatiers), wrapped in pretty cello paper were given out as thank you gifts...it was a hit! Who really wants another 'trinket', right? Also, 1 or 2 nice coffee/tea mugs filled with individual packets of tea/coffee and a cookie, wrapped up nicely is good too.

You could always head over to Big Lots or Dollar General if you have one in your area. Sometimes they have good stuff. If you live near any outlets, that's a good option. This weekend my husband and I went to the Yankee Candle outlet and got some wonderful deals. Do you know the gender of your baby? Sounds like (from your post) you don't. We've chosen not to find out either.

We actually went to bath and body works and got the hand soaps they were on sale 5 for ten dollars and if u have a dollar tree where u live i dont know but they have very cute picture frames everyone was pleased with there gifts. Another fun thing that we did for a game was the diaper game THis meant everyone that came to ur shower bought a bag of diapers then they were entered into a drawin i think they won like a 20 dollar gift card but its so worth it i made out on diapers

I THINK U SHOULD HAVE ALL THE WINNERS OF THE GAMES PUT THEIR NAMES INTO A BOWL, THEN DRAW A WINNER AND HAVE THEM WIN A $10 or $20 GIFTCARD TO SOMEWHERE PRACTICAL. BIGGER IS BETTER I THINK. WE DID IT AT MINE AND IT TURNED OUT GREAT!! GOOD LUCK

phxbeauty4 - Wednesday, 25 June
for my shower my mom got unisex gifts (i had a few gay guys here) but she got sutff like shower gels, a mini thing that you make mixed cocktails with, and something else. Picture frames always work, candles, if you live near a target check out their "dollar days" section. The have tons of fun stuff under $3

I think you should give a prizes that have something to do with the game your playing.. for example.. at my shower.. we played the poopy diaper game & winner got a little assortment of chocolate.. also.. we played the price is right on a few baby items.. and the winner got a BRAND NEW CAR!!!! ( lol just a little toy car.. theyre super cheap) i did a baby food taste test too.. winner got a gift certificate to go eat.. they dont have to be much.. but we had a lot of fun.. and the prizes were a hit! lol

but good luck! have fun!

helenaz - Wednesday, 25 June

SarahTook4YearsFord - Wednesday, 25 June
Do you live near a Bath and Body Works? They are having their big semi-annual sale this week. They have some 3 for $10 items. Here's a link to get ideas: http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=2831054&cm_re=ShoppingShortcuts-_-topnav-_-AntiBac You'll have to copy and paste it. I tried to post it as a link but it didn't work on your page. Good luck!

ktfantas - Wednesday, 25 June
How about chocolate! That's what I did. I also had some body scrubs and body moisturises. Good luck!

miamicat - Wednesday, 25 June
At my shower i had a cupcake tower and i had the baker but together small boxes of cupcakes in gift boxes. I also gave away godiva chocolate which were a little more pricey as thank you gift but they were a hit. You can give away brownies, cookies or hot chocolate mixes that they have packaged nicely at marhsalls or ross.

Check out the clearance sections at WalMart, Target, etc. Also, sometimes the drug stores have some clearance items.

Candles, towels (dish or hand), pot holders, photo album (small ones), lotions, candy jars, ring holders, kitchen gadgets, makeup utensils, bath pouffs with soap. Hope some of those ideas help. Have fun!

ericka28 - Wednesday, 25 June
t my shower we just did candles and holders. Pretty boring but it worked. Another idea is mabye some flowers of some sort weather they be bedding plants or carnations. All the best to ya!!!!

OrdinaryMiracle - Wednesday, 25 June
At my shower they gave away fudge and little bottles of wine and liqueurs as prizes! It was great - for everyone except me! LOL

thx4grace - Wednesday, 25 June
what games are you playing? candy in poopy diaper game - give a candy prize. A writing game or quiz - give a journal, book,or magazine. You can do it kinda theme style to match the game then it does not seem cheap, but appropriate. Have fun!
