A Bit About Me, and the the rest of my Family.........

Antony and I have been married for 16 years this year! We left it a while before starting our family so I was 28 when our first daughter Bethan was born on 24th October 1999. By some strange coincidence our second daughter Kate was also born in October - four years later on 14th October 2003 when I was 32.

It was very difficult to decide whether or not to have a 3rd baby, but somehow our family didn't seem complete with the two girls, so this year we thought we would give it a go. As I am now 36 we thought age would be against us, but unbelievably I fell pregnant straight away and guess what ...... our 3rd baby is also due in October! This time about 08th October.

I'm not sure if there are any other mum's out there with 3 children all having birthdays in the same month - I am sure it isn't a record or anything - but October is already a busy month with two birthdays to organise, so it will be interesting to see how things work out with 3 birthdays to fit in to one month!

Bethan and Kate are very excited about the prospect of having a new baby in the house and being 'big sisters'. I am going to try very hard to enjoy every minute of it this time as I am pretty sure this will be the final addition to our family!

UPDATE: 23rd April 2008, (16 weeks) My pregnancy seems to be progressing well, if the size of my waist line is anything to go by! I have somewhat belatedly discovered that there is a blog facility on this site, so I have moved my pregnancy diary there....a much better place for it as it probably isn't all that exciting for anyone else to read!

Thank you to everyone for visiting my page, and thanks especially to everyone that writes me a little message! I don't always get a lot of time on the computer, but I always write back (eventually!) :-) Best wishes to everyone Valerie x

Hiya how you feeling? Has that cold gone? Well I have given up totally lol, done everything I can and think will just concentrate on getting thru the next few days with my parents here as it's getting tough now lol! Cabin Fever is the term I want I think!!

Had another sweep done y'day and she said it was all in a better position and I am dilated about 3cms but that doesn't really mean anything if I am not in labour! It's a bit degrading really but needs must and all that! Off to do some food shopping maybe waters will break as I walk round Babies R Us lol. Fingers crossed for us both hun. Hugs xxxx

mummydawni - Monday, 6 October
Hiya lovey how are you? Well I managed to squeeze into maternity jeans and a pretty top, put some lippy on and went out for Sunday dinner which was lovely and then when I got home the tummy was tight for hours and had awful pains but nope not a bloody thing happening!!! Back to doc today for another search and rescue and see what the next steps are!! My dad has arrived now so I am hoping he would have touched the bump the waters would have broken but nope baby is stuck fast!! Fingers crossed we are both able to see our toes by Friday at the lastest eh!! xxx

emb17 - Monday, 6 October
My ex is just a night mare, if i sneezed and forgot to put my hand over my face as I did so I think he would sue me for loss of work time becaue he caught my cold! It is just the type of person he is!

I'm glad to hear you sorted the head lice out, I hate them. We thankfully haven't seen them yet this term, but you just never know!!!

I think this baby is in for the long hawl, I have had very pain full contractions @ every half an hour today, but I haven't sat down, I have been cleaning like mad as my mum was comming round and I didn't want her seeing the house in a mess. That and my other haf is starting to be insistant that I have this baby in the kitchen! which I 'm not happy about as it means constant bleaching to try and keep it vaigly clean! With as many kids as we have I will have to bleach the foor after every meal! I wouldn't normally bother, but my other half wants me to have the baby in the kitchen! So I'm going to have to as I don't fancy giving brth is last nights stew which has been flickd on to the floor! (I normally sweep it over and bleach it once or twice a week)
It's probably why I have woken up with this over welming desire to clean again! Normally i'm up and down all night because I need the loo, but this morning I woke up at 4am and needed to clean!!!! (what is wrong with me?) I have layed in bed for nearly an hour trying to convince my self to go back to sleep, but in the end I have had to get up. So I thought I would come play with my computer instead.

It's strange that some of this pregnacy I have felt like I have had more energy than if I wasn't pregnant, and then at other times I have felt like I have wanted to sleep for britian! My ms has lingered on and off for alot longer than any of my others but my bump has felt alot smaller (untill the last day or so), but i have been struggling with a bad back and spd, but even those I have managed to fight with the help of some physio. So on a whole I think this has been a relativly easy pregnacy! The only reason I'm willing for this pregnacy to be over is because of my MIL or I would prob not be to fussed about when the baby arrived.

Any way I should try and get some sleep before the kids wake up and want feeding again. lol.. one school has a day closure so it's like the weekend continues....

Hope you had a good weekend and that some of those aches and pains have stayed away?

Take care Em x

Hi Val! I was thinking about you yesterday actually! Was wondering if you had given birth by chance! It's so nice to hear from you!

I too have been feeling uncomfortable - achey, crampy, can't walk too far from home without having to find a bathroom and I get a pain in the front of my stomach just above my belly button - my dr is sure it's her elbow or something pushing out. They definitely don't have room around this time do they!!!

I'm pretty well set - as ready as I'm ever going to be anyway! The hospital is a 10 minute drive - we were actually there yesterday as I had a bit of a scare. It had been 12 hours since I felt anything from Isabella so we called the dr and she told us to go in for a cardiogram. Luckily all was well - strong heartbeat and lots of mild contractions - she just had a really off day. Scared me however as I went from feeling something to absolutely nothing - I drank juice, ate something sweet (although I'm not supposed to), drank cold water, lay on my side, tried to move my stomach - nothing. So you can imagine how frightened I was! Dr said I made the right call - 12 hours was a long time.

Anyway, I would like to try and go as long as I can without pain meds - epidural. But, seeing as I'm being induced, I have heard from quite a few women that inducing can bring on some really intense contractions quickly. There is no chance for a build up so we will play it all by ear and see how it goes. I go to my dr's tomorrow evening for a 2nd internal exam and we'll see if there's anything going on in there yet. I have a feeling she will have us check into the hospital next Saturday - I will let you know!

I suppose you always have some nervousness or apprehensiveness about giving birth - no matter how many times you've done it. But I am sure you will do great and your girls will make excellent big sister's too!!

My sister is arriving from Canada on Oct. 21st - so can't wait to see her!! She is so very anxious to meet her new niece! And I am definitely enjoying being home! So so much! I am getting lots done, taking some time to relax and enjoy "me" time - and my husband is loving it too! He loves coming home to the smells of cooking and baking (been doing that a lot - lol) and fresh laundry. He's in 1950's heaven - LOL!!!

I wish you all the luck - can't wait to share pics and stories!!! I'll be thinking of you this week - and patiently awaiting your update!!! And yes!! I have some great friends here - they were so sweet to have thrown that shower for me. Isabella received so many beautiful clothes and blankets!!!

Hi Val

I am pretty good..feel like a big rolly poly!! Slow to move about but feeling quite calm and relaxed (see my entry for 5.10.08 on profile)...
I am happy to have got to 39 weeks ( a first for me as u know) and I am staying in the NOW, not worrying (or dwelling on worry) as I know when labour starts I will have to focus and be there NOW..thats all we can do..lots of gentleness around..breathing..positivity..whatever will be will be...and I now have space for next 8 days from my kids, which does help of course, (QUIET TIME!!!) and I appreciate having that space....try to rest as much as is possible...dont give out too much QI to others, I am not talking much on phone..can be draining, conserve your energy as best you can...get close and loving to your partner (I am off sex but hugs and kisses and closeness is good for the cervix!!)..stay connected....xx

Mine are helpful with the cleaning. I alwasy wear slip on Sketchers LOL.. or flip flops. I dont mind how it looks anymore and I KNOW peopel look st me funny. Like this morning we went to Sams to get a few things and I wore flipflops with my khakis and folks kept looking at my feet. I cld be wrong tho. I was in a wheelchair. they might have just been looking at my legs to see what is wrong with them LOL...

My hubby and I were doing some research and I have a petuitary adnoma which is a cluster of cells in your brain that make your body think your pregnant. I was diagnosed back 4 1/2 yrs ago with it.. well it made my body produce the same pregnancy hormones. Well now we are thinking that the pregnancy is making me producing the hormones as well so our thought is that I am getting double hormones and that is why myhips and nad back hurt. since the hormones causess your hips and back to soften to spread for labor.. just a thought. But I am going to mention it to the doc on Tuesday.

Let me know about your labor and all.. your deff at the point of ""Wehn is this gonna happen"" LOL

sharra - Friday, 3 October
well, here we are in October. Sorry it took so long to write back....been lazy.I would love to visit the UK some day. I have heard it is simular to our weather patterns. We get a lot of rain here in Seattle.
I just got back from the DR and I am at a 2 cm and baby is engaged...But, not big contractions.....just hardening.

10 days over due is fine. I will be discusing induction after my 41 week, just out of safety. I am having a healthy pregnancy, but I am starting to ware down. I am swollen, which is a new sign right now.

Yes, I am in a graduate program for counceling psychology. I have completed my first year and am taking two semesters off to have baby. I hope to get back in for the summer semester depending on the needs of the baby and such.
Psychology is wonderful, you learn so much about yourself and others. I have had to do my own work this past year as a prerec. to stay in the program. I had a deep year.....dealing with all the chilhood issues that I have packed around most of my life. Scary, but so powerful. I have learned to have more empathy that was not there a year or two ago. We all have burdens we carry.

Hope you are making progression. Let me know any new news. Take care....Labor dust.

mummydawni - Friday, 3 October
Hiya Val, how are you? Hope MIL is doing ok? I seen the newbie thing advsertised but I don't think our local Odeon does it which I think is quite rude lol. I shall have to find out though.

Well the sweep hasn't worked! Neither has mother's home made curry soup, extra hot tomato soup with tabasco today is on the menu but we have made plans to go ou on Sunday for the day so I bet when I am in the pub having our lunch my waters will break!! We did say that we think baby will wait for his Grandad to arrive tomorrow and it appears he is! I have even been banned from the local shop until I have the pram out!!

Have you thought of any names? We have two new ones this week, Cole and Brody, and I am loving both of them but again we will wait to see what he looks like!

Doc again on Monday afternoon for another sweep (or search and rescue as I prefer to call it) Think I shall go and eat some pineapple though and keep bouncing on the ball! We were erading about accupressure points for labour and nope nothing!! I will be 42 weeks before he arrives I expect lol!! Keep me posted hun xx

Hi ya,

I hate head lice! My ex husband took me to court because of them! (don't ask, it's a very long boring story!)

My partner came home on Wed evening because I keep getting these strange bouts of not feeling well. The Midwife has said it is hormone related and prob a good sing that things are moving forward!

In some ways this hasn't been a bad pregnacy at all, but I would like it over with now because my MIL is away. Sounds madness but she lives in the Annex next to us and she never gives me a break! She is due back on the 10th so I have between now and then to have this little one in peace. Any ideas on getting labour going???

My first boy was early, my second boy was as late as can bee and my 3rd boy was a week late. so mostly I have been late, which doesn't look good for getting this baby out before MIl returns to take over my home again!

I have to check that the hose and stuff will reach the birth pool today. I prob should have done it long before now but i've just been to busy.

It would be great if we could just push a magic button and ping! the baby arrives the day we want it to lol

Hope you you are well, take care Em x

Hi, all! I am so sorry for not checking in more frequently. I am slammed with interior design stuff!

Anyway, I am fine...just moving along and really enjoying the time with my husband.

The weather was cool and brisk in Atlanta this morning. So, so nice of Fall to announce its arrival.

Looking forward to seeing all the Fall babies coming your way soon!

Smiles,

Debora ;-)

Good Afternoon!! Being on bedrest is hard! But my older 2 are about to be 6 and 9 and they are soooo helpful. They know that I cant do anything so they will bring books and we will snuggle up in my bed and read and color or watch tv... I will admit without this website I wld be terribly lonely all day but I have all the girls on here to chat with :o).... About the baby coming early, I dont know if that is an option. I havent discussed it with my doc as of yet! Next week I go see a high risk doctor for a 2nd opinion on what we shld do about my back and hip... My hip is getting worse and it is now affecting my left leg. It feels swollen. My husband says that my knee looks swollen but that my leg looks fine.. so I will discuss that with the new doc on Tuesday.
My hubby has been such a trooper thru this pregnacy. He knows that I dont complain about much so the fact that I am having such a hard time he is very understsanding.. He will bring me magazines and books and if I get a crazy craving he wont ask twice he will just laugh and run to get it... This is deff our last pregnancy..

maha55 - Wednesday, 1 October
..yes I am pleased to have made it thus far..another few days and then any time from Sunday/Monday will be fine by me!! Got my weekly midwife check up tomorrow..we see if baby has moved down more...getting intermittent cramping and crying and emotional day today as well as a g8 massage......YAH I AM SOFTENING!!!..I think its all perfect.....
and thanks for the reminder of being with my boys instead of wishing it away...am putting my 11 yr old to bed now and we will lie together in my bed for some snuggly one on one time...(his brother having a sleepover)..and he came with Don and I to our antenatal class tonite,..we had all the doll babies and he pretended to dress them and loved folding nappies!! was a nice time tog..all best to you and family.. xx

mummydawni - Wednesday, 1 October
Hiya! Well nothing yet which is the frustrating thing, I am soo wishing the days would fly and he will arrive as I am so impatient now lol. I will be up at the GP on Monday having another one I expect! It does feel strange getting to October and seeing the finish line as such lol.

I am so jealous you went to the cinema, I can't even make it to round the local supermarket without needing the loo and I can't wait to get back to the cinema lol.

Fingers crossed we have our little bundles soon!! xx

mplsmama - Wednesday, 1 October
Hey there! Sorry it's taken me a while to respond... I'm just finding it so much harder to get onto this website these days! I get home from work, spend the evening with Maisie until she goes to bed at 8 pm, then I usually have to wash my stuff for pumping, make a sandwich for lunch the next day, etc, and I'm off to bed! Oh well. I'm kind of settling into a routine.
So glad to hear that you had a nice holiday. And congrats on becoming an aunt again! How fun that you were able to be there when the baby was born. I bet that was fun for your girls.
I've been needing a get-away myself. We decided to head to northern Minnesota in a few wks, when the fall leaves are in their peak color. We're going to put the pack & play in the car, and see how Maisie does sleeping away from home. Hopefully it'll go well. I just need a change of scenery.
Wow, you're getting close! I bet you're looking forward to the arrival... glad that you got the nursery put together. I know when I reached the last month of my pregnancy, I really just wanted it to be over. It's funny now the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, though, because now I kind of miss being pregnant! Oh, and I can totally relate to being a little more slow-moving at this stage... I definitely had the "waddle" down toward the end.
My weight loss is going well. I seem to have lost all of the weight, but I definitely still have toning to do. My belly is so flabby right now! I've started jogging again. I really need to do some situps, but I'm too lazy. Oh well. I'm just happy that I can get into some pre-pregnancy clothes.
Maisie is doing really well. She's so darn cute. I will have to get some new photos up. She's rolling like a maniac, and talking up a storm! People are finally saying she's starting to look more like me. I like hearing that.
Well, keep me posted... I'm thinking of you and hoping you're doing well!!! :)
Heather

Hi, funny I have just said to someone else on this site that I don't think we will have the NHS long, as they were commenting on the problems they are having with their insurance company!

I'm afaid it is me with the camera obsesion, I can take about 4000, photo's without thought at times! trouble is I don't like making people pose, so quite often or not I will take about 15 - 20 photos just to get one i like! I think my oldest has the same obsession, however sadly his dad lost his camera in south Africa and refuses to replace it! I just can't afford to at the moment.

I wanted to have a 3d scan, but just couldn't find the money for it. I asked to be told what sex the baby was at my 20 week scan but they wouldn't tell me. The kids all think I know and just wnt tell them, but i really don't know. I think it is another boy, I have no idea why, I just do... everyone that see's me say's it looks like a boy bump. But it looks nothing like any of my boys did, so who knows. not long to find out now.

I had planned at stopping at 3 but this one decided it whanted to be part of the family too. And really with the number of children we have it wont make any difference at all.

I'm just counting the hours till my other half gets home now and then I can relax and have this baby. I just hope I don't go over due!
