A Bit About Me, and the the rest of my Family.........

Antony and I have been married for 16 years this year! We left it a while before starting our family so I was 28 when our first daughter Bethan was born on 24th October 1999. By some strange coincidence our second daughter Kate was also born in October - four years later on 14th October 2003 when I was 32.

It was very difficult to decide whether or not to have a 3rd baby, but somehow our family didn't seem complete with the two girls, so this year we thought we would give it a go. As I am now 36 we thought age would be against us, but unbelievably I fell pregnant straight away and guess what ...... our 3rd baby is also due in October! This time about 08th October.

I'm not sure if there are any other mum's out there with 3 children all having birthdays in the same month - I am sure it isn't a record or anything - but October is already a busy month with two birthdays to organise, so it will be interesting to see how things work out with 3 birthdays to fit in to one month!

Bethan and Kate are very excited about the prospect of having a new baby in the house and being 'big sisters'. I am going to try very hard to enjoy every minute of it this time as I am pretty sure this will be the final addition to our family!

UPDATE: 23rd April 2008, (16 weeks) My pregnancy seems to be progressing well, if the size of my waist line is anything to go by! I have somewhat belatedly discovered that there is a blog facility on this site, so I have moved my pregnancy diary there....a much better place for it as it probably isn't all that exciting for anyone else to read!

Thank you to everyone for visiting my page, and thanks especially to everyone that writes me a little message! I don't always get a lot of time on the computer, but I always write back (eventually!) :-) Best wishes to everyone Valerie x

I have some mental plans - but I am not really sure. Right now the room is painted a deep mustard yellow and I LOVE the colour but I've read and heard that yellow is not a good colour for a baby's room - apparently they cry more. I don't know how much truth there is to that but this is just what I've heard.

If I do decide to paint, I would like to go with light green and lilac colors and the furniture I think I would like to be in white. No real theme to be honest - just a cute, calm room for her! Might be so calm I will want to sleep in there!!

I have her name already - although not a hit with the Greek side of the family because 1) it's not Greek and 2) in Greek Orthodox, she won't be named after a Saint. WHATEVER...she's our child and we both like the name. She will be named Isabella Katerina - after my grandmother and mother. If we were having a boy - we would have named him after my hubby's father as is Greek tradition (with my father's name as a 2nd name) and I accept that.

We are in the middle of our 2nd heat wave here and this week has been a little bit unbearable for me - I feel sorry for women who are 8 or 9 months right now!!! But we will get to the beach on Sunday to cool down. My a/c is my best friend right now to be honest!!

How about you? Names? Nursery ideas?

So have a lovely weekend!!! xox

Oh I'm sorry your husband didn't have a very good fathers day! At least he is ok and nothing real serious!! Thats nice that your going to be aunt I bet your girls are excited about there new cousin also! I'm feeling much better I had to go back this morning and see the dietician and I lost 3 pounds, she said I need to increase my snacks some because they don't want me loosing weight while I'm pregnant! But other than that my sugar levels are looking good! Yay! I'm so excited about my baby shower its only in 2 weeks I still need so much stuff so I'm hoping its a good turn out! The time is flying by so fast my little man is going to be here in no time at all! Have a good day and take care!!! Kathy

Hi there! Sorry to hear Father's Day didn't go exactly as planned, but sounds like you all made the best of it! I hope your husband's knee feels better soon. I had a rollerblading accident about 10 yrs ago, so I can relate to bursitis in the knee, as I had a bout of that too after the accident. It isn't pleasant.
I'm feeling a little better each day. The past few days have been absolutely gorgeous here, so we've taken long walks w/ Maisie. Probably walked close to a mile each day. I figure it's good to be active, as long as I don't overdo it.
Maisie is doing well too. She scared us a bit w/ projectile vomiting all over Dan after her bath last night. I had just fed her before so I think it was just a bit too much stimulation. She woke at 1 am to feed, then didn't wake again until 6:30! I was expecting her to feed at 4:30 am. Dan did the 1 am feeding by bottle, too, so I finally feel rested today! Yay! :)
Interesting that you don't get too many bad storms in the UK... I wonder why not? We live in the midwest, so we get tornado threats often in the summer.
How are you feeling w/ the pregnancy? Are your girls excited to have another sibling? We're still debating on whether or not we want to have a 2nd child. My husband is a teacher so it really worked well to have a baby in the summer, since he gets summers off. We'd kind of like to time it so that any future children would be born around the same time... so that means trying to get pg in Sept. I'm definitely not ready for that yet this Sept! So we'll see if we want to try again in about a year. Who knows., Sometimes we think one is all we need. We'll see where life takes us!
Off to play w/ Maisie! Talk to you later!

Hello Valerie!

Hope all is well with you! I have been a bit busy here with work. Not very often, but sometimes, I actually have to focus. Most of the time I am bored to tears. I agree that time is moving a bit quickly. I can¡¦t believe that we are at 23/24 week mark! I haven¡¦t done anything for the baby really and my husband and I still can¡¦t figure out a name. Oh well, I work best under a deadline ƒº.

Wow! Four years at the same school already! Is she excited or nervous? Ava is so excited for school but she is really enjoying playing outside with her neighbors till late on these summer nights. We have 7 kids in the neighborhood and when they get together¡Kwell who knows what they are up to. All I know for sure is that Ava is developing mentally at an uncomfortably rapid pace. The other day we were at a family party for Father¡¦s Day and I went into the house and saw Ava and this other little boy (not related to her but a couple years older) jump behind the couch. As they were the only ones in there I told her to come downstairs with me. I asked her what they were doing and she told me they were playing boyfriend/girlfriend. I tried not to freak out and tried to calmly ask her what that meant. She said it meant that they were playing house. I just about killed the little boy on the spot but managed to maintain. But now I do not want her around little boys by herself, those heathens! I am sure that my angel had nothing to do with it and was just taken advantage of by a sinister and ill intentioned young fellow. Yeah right! I heard her later asking him if he wanted to play boyfriend/girlfriend outside with us ƒ¼.

Our scan went well, thanks for asking! Little man was in there swimming away. The tech said that he was ¡§text book¡¨ which made me relax a little. She also said that he was ¡§amazingly strong for 22 weeks¡¨. I said, ¡§Tell me about it!¡¨ So the good news is he has all of his parts and is doing well. The potential ¡¥not great¡¦ news is that he is breech and I have had to have my babies turned in my stomach in the past. It is not awful, but not a whole lot of fun either. I have had two scans and they have both showed him in the same position Ava was when she had to be turned. Two doctors stood on either side of my stomach and used their fingers to manually roll her around. It was a whole lot of pressure and I had to have an epidural. But, alas, there are worse things that can happen so I will not complain.

Gas here is $4.09 a gallon. I tried to do the conversion but I keep coming up with .55p/L, that just can¡¦t be right, can it?

Your story about how you met your husband is funny as well! Who knew we were so frisky at such a young age. It is weird because my sister¡¦s story is the same as mine. She was kicked out, moved in with her then boyfriend and has now been married for 11 years! You might think after my sister did that she would try not to do it with me but here we are! My sister and I both have wonderful husbands! In fact, I keep having these stupid nightmares. Since I have been pregnant I dream super vivid dreams and about once a week they turn into rather awful nightmares. Last night I was screaming in my sleep and my husband, Josh, rolled over and put him arms around me to wake me up and told me not to worry that these dreams just meant that I was a very creative person and he loved that about me. At that moment I went from terrified to flattered and happy. What a great guy! Anthony sounds quite sweet as well as he seems quite excited about his brood of little ladies! I just love it when grown men are so proud and adoring of their little girls!

I am so sorry about Father¡¦s Day!!! That sounds like no fun at all! I am glad you got a nice dinner in though. We spent the morning at my parents house and the afternoon at his parents house. There was a bit of drama at his parents house, not to mention Ava¡¦s new game, but we got it worked out. His family is a bit more complicated than mine but he handles it well. I did find it interesting though, I was at this party and there was a side of someone¡¦s family that I hardly ever see and they are soooo different from me. If you can imagine what a backwoods, sorta hayseed stereotype would be like it was them. They don¡¦t speak proper English, they are very rough around the edges with the cursing and smoking around children and pregnant ladies. One of them told me I was huge! They were getting wasted on cheap beer and I thought to myself, ¡§even though we are very different I should really find something to appreciate about them.¡¨ I am embarrassed to say that I didn¡¦t do a very good job.

I am really not too interested in being a politician but thank you. As you know, being a politician requires also being a sales person and asking for money. These are things I simply cannot do. I do love the sport though.
Well I hope your little munchkins and hubby are doing well. We have had a spat of tornados here lately but things seem to be calming down a bit now, although we are having serious flooding issues at the moment. If someone believed in signs of Armageddon I think they may consider it happening with all the natural and man made disasters lately¡K.but it keeps me in business I guess.

Take care,
Sarah

Hi there! I am very excited about having this little boy. I really thought that whole experience was over for me. My boys are thrilled to have a little brother on the way. I am sure I will have lots of help when he arrives. I agree that age has made no difference at all with this pregnancy. In fact I actually had high blood pressure with my first and my pressure is fine with this one. My GP told me that more and more people are waiting until they are well in their 30's to start a family. All my tests so far have checked out fine...so now it's just the waiting game and I'm enjoying every minute!

LGK616 - Wednesday, 18 June
Thank you so much!! We are really excited - it's like finding out that we're pregnant all over again!!! And now that she has an identity - I feel even more attached to her then ever!! My hubby was a little disappointed, actually more shocked - he's the only boy in his family - his sister has 2 daughters - and he of course was hoping to have the 1st grandson. But he's so happy and so thrilled - I can see his heart just melts at the thought of having a little daddy's girl! Now I can plan her bedroom!!! Hope you are doing great!!! L xox

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I hope everthing is going well for you. You are getting closer and closer. I am loving being a new mom. Sure, there are things that are frustrating like interrupted sleep, but it's worth it. I am able to figure out ways to still have a life and have a baby, too. She can take a bottle now, so I can pump some milk and get away a bit if need be. Take care!

mummydawni - Tuesday, 17 June
Afternoon how are you? I have had such a bad day with back pain but not in the lower back more in the middle to top half and being a tough chick I tried to handle it but it wasn't working and my manager sent me home at half 3 so I managed to relax and it's easing up a bit now. I do feel it could be my shoes which prob sounds silly but I had comfy sandals on instead of trainers and I think they are to blame so going back to trainers tomorrow.

Had a lovely moment last night when baba kicked the heart monitor and I managed to capture it on video on phone. He is getting so strong and feels like aerobics in my tummy alot of the time!

So how are your other girls? Looking forward to the new baby arriving? A year off sounds fabulous and I can't wait to have some time off. My parents arrive on Friday (petrol strike allowing) to turn our spare room into a nursery which will be brilliant. We also just found out that my fiance's brother and wife are expecting a baby in November which was conceived with IVF their first attempt was successful so two bundles before Xmas in the family is exciting news.

Take care Dawn xx

Hi Val, Sorry it has taken me a while to reply I have so not been felling well at all lately and I am still on steroid inhaler as my breathing is terrible, but all in all things are going better and I am so pleased to be home and never want to go on holiday again in a caravan whilst pregnant I have come back feeling more exhausted than when I left and that is not good.

I am glad the school fair went well, sounds like you had fun with the girls. We are doing ours on the 6th September and I am on the PTA so we are organising some really neat stalls etc, I am trying to get Leicestershire fire brigade to come down to talk safety, I am looking forward to it all.

I too have not watched Big Brother since the first one I have been so tired lol. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES is my all time favourite and I am missing the girls too, I feel like I have made 4 new friends from watching that, I love it so much, and I have the book and the board game I am so sad but I am with you there I love it.

It has so sunk in that we are having a boy, I have no idea for names as yet he is known as 'fraggle' lol. Everyone I know seems to be having girls funny that isn't it. I have bought a few baby grows and vests and bibs and I am going to start doing the firls room so they can share and then getting the stuff together for 'fraggle' and I always put then in order, which is very sad but age order it has go in lol. How about you, names yet, shopping yet? How do the girls feel about another sister? My eldest is still a bit unsure to be honest but she is getting there and my little one comes up with names like charlie lol and it is a different name everyday bless them.

I hope you are well and the family is great, I am so pleased to be home as I have not been well, but feeling better, hope all is well with you and chat to you soon *hugs* xxxx

Hi did you have a good weekend? I had a good one I got alot of rest so I feel good today! This past Sun was Fathers Day so we had to do alot of visiting yesterday with family which is fun but exhausting! I pretty much try to stick with milk and water but I can also drink tea, I just try to stick with water since it has no calories HA HA!I had a doctors appt this morning and it went very good, my sugar levels are coming down and I have dropped some. I was shocked to hear that but explains the extra pressure feeling I'm having and the increased lower back pain I'm having. My doctor said it was ok that I have dropped some since I'm only 30 weeks and that I will more than likely be having an early baby which is ok because since I'm high risk they are inducint me by 38 weeks. Good thing my baby shower is in 2 weeks I still have more things I need and I want everything ready to go before my son gets here!! Have a good day and talk to you soon!! Kathy

I hope you & your family had a fabulous Father"s Day! I finally ventured out for the 1st time since the c-section on Saturday to get father's day gifts for my husband... it was fun to buy him things for his 1st father's day! Unfortunately, I went to the store & got my haircut, and kind of overdid it. I was soooo sore after that. It's so hard to feel so incapacitated. But I guess it was a reminder that I just need more time to heal.
Yeah, those nipple shields are amazing! The only concern I have is whether it's affecting my milk supply. I don't know why they would, but I pump after some feedings, and lately I'm not getting nearly as much milk as I used to... it makes me nervous. My husband thinks it's just a sign that she's feeding better. Do you know if they affect milk supply at all? The last thing I want to do is have my milk dry up!
Other than that we're doing well... we had horrible storms on Saturday night and lost our electricity for about 6 hrs... Maisie decided to cluster feed during that time, and we had to do everything by flashlight! It was not fun. At one point we even had to go to the basement b/c the storm got so bad. It was pretty scary. Thankfully, it passed over & everything turned out fine.
Well, I'm off to grab some quick breakfast before the next feeding! :)

Just saying hi! Had my 20 wk checkup - all looks good. I gained another 5 pounds, so that makes 14 total. I'm happy with that. Blood pressure is a little higher than normal 118/70, but that's still good. Little dude's heartbeat was in the 140's. I kind of do wonder if there is something to the old wives tale about higher and lower heartbeats - my girls were never below the 160's.

We haven't done too much on vacation yet - last week we all just tried to sleep in a little and enjoy not having to be so busy. My youngest is also on the swim team so there is practice every weekday morning and swim meets on Thursday's (my oldest is still out with a broken arm). This week is vacation bible school at our church so that's all morning and I'm setting an alarm again (hate that!). Saturday morning, my hubbie and I leave for a two day trip to Los Angeles, CA. My niece is being baptized and we are her godparents. My mom is going to stay with our girls here, because it's just too long of a flight (5 hours) each way and then with the 3 hour time difference, it's really hell on your body. Not really looking forward to it. Our family vacation will be in July; we're going to the beach - Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (our favorite place). I can't get too excited because when we get back from that it will only be 3 weeks till school starts and I'm not even close to being ready for that! What is your family planning for your vacation?

Are you feeling the baby kick and move a lot?

kathy24 - Friday, 13 June
Hi there, yes I still get confused about my diet sometimes, mainly I'm just cutting back on portions sizes. I don't even weigh the food I just make sure the portion size isn't bigger than the palm of my hand. I'm including alot more fruits and veggies and I'm drinking water or milk only. If I start feeling hungry than I snack on some crackers with cheese or peanut butter or nuts I'm trying not to get to the point where I'm really hungry because then my suagar levels start going up. Time is going by so fast I can't beilve it!!! I don't have much planned for this weekend, I love it when I have a easy weekend!! My baby shower is June 28 and I can't wait, I still have alot of stuff I need but I'm going to wait till after my shower to see what I get! Take it easy!!

mummydawni - Thursday, 12 June
Oooh three girls how fabulous. We weren't going to find out then we made the decision that if we found out we could prepare better with clothes and things instead of just buying white and cream. We weren't fussed either way what it was as long as it was healthy and so far so good. I get 9 months off from work plus holiday so when I get the forms from the midwife next week I can get the final date sorted but hoping to finish on Sept 19th, two weeks before he is due then stay off til July, and then go back part time.
Thanks for your kind words about our weight loss, sadly we have put some one as since I stopped the diet Neil has been eating what I have so once baby is out will give it a month then get back to slimming world to aim losing the baby weight plus finish my target of that final stone and a half to get to my original target weight lol. Take care xxDawnxx

mplsmama - Thursday, 12 June
Thanks for the words of encouragement on bf'ing! I'm definitely sticking w/ it for now... we had visited a lactation consultant, and they recommended a nipple shield, which has been an absolute lifesaver for us. It's going much better now. Maisie has her 2 wk appt tomorrow, so I'm praying they say she's gained enough weight. Every time we weigh her she's gained some, so I feel optimistic that we'll get good news.
Yes, you will definitely have your hands full w/ 3 little ones! Just like anything else, I'm sure you just learn to adjust. Are your girls excited to have a new sibling?
Well, Maisie just went down & I need to get myself in the shower! It's just amazing how quickly the days fly by with a newborn. Before I know it, it's lunchtime & I haven't even showered!
Hope all is well!
