Husband & I were High School sweethearts and started dating in August of 1984. He had just finished his first year of college and I just finished my Sophomore year in high school. We dated until Spring of 1990. We always kept in touch over the years (lunch, movies, drinks, etc...) and started exclusively dating again in November of 2003. He proposed while we were vacationing at the family condo in Florida in September of 2004. We were married in October of 2005 and spent our honeymoon in the Bahamas (for 10 days) and Philadelphia (for 4 days). We bought our house and moved out of the condo in November of 2005. We had to paint, rip out old (shag) carpets and clean every nook and cranny so we decided I would stay on the pill until that was all done. I finally came of birth control pills in December of 2005 after being on them for 20+ years (due to irregular cycles) and we have been trying since January of 2006. Started fertility testing in January of 2007. Everything with both of us good. We fall into the percentile of "unexplained" infertility.

Fertility Treatment IVF - Round 4 Cycle 31 Day 1 July 4, 2008

November 15th: Well, we had our three hour consultation with our Doctor at the Fertility office yesterday. We also met our nurse and the financial advisor. My insurance covers everything exept my co-pay for office visit and medications. Here's what when down: it turns out that I ovulation on Saturday night/Sunday morning all on my own. They did all the required blood work on me and my husband. They also did another sperm analysis on hubby. It turns out that his sperm morphology is very low so we are candidates to move right to IFV. According to my internal ultrasound I had 6 folicles on my right ovary (which was where I ovulated from a few days ago) and 9 folicles on my left ovary. God must have made this appointment available to me for a reason because when we met with the nurse she said we are at the perfect day of my cycle to start treatment immediately. My medications were delivered today and I start Lupron tonight. I have to go back on 11/23 for blood work and an utrasound early in the morning and then I will start Gonal F that night along with HCG and a lower dose of Lupron. That is also the day hubby starts his Doxycycline. They are optomistic that my retrieval day will be between 12/11 and 12/13 and the my transfer day will be between 12/14 and 12/18. The earliest they will be able to do a blood pregnancy test is.......Christmas morning. How cool would that be? I also asked them if the Lupron would hurt me if I'm already pregnant. They said no and also informed me that there is a very slight chance of getting pregnant on our own due to the morphology report. It pretty much indicates that his sperm meets my egg but isn't strong enough to completely penetrate the outer shell. So all these month of trying since his last analysis was pretty much a waste since our chances are so small. I wish my OB/GYN would have said something to us about that. We would have schedule this appointment months ago. Anyway, no point in looking back. I feel very good about this and my doctor is very nice with a great sense of humor. November 24th: Today is day 1 of my cycle so I will be going to the fertility center on Monday for day 3 testing. They will also adjust/change my meds. I will take 5cc of lupron and I will start the Gonal F. Hubby will also start his antibiotics twice a day. My cycle was a little late so I won't have my first pregnancy test until December 28th now. November 26th: I went to the fertility center this morning for my day 3 blood work and ultrasound. They said everything looks great and we are ready to move forward. They will call me later this afternoon with the changes to my medications and blood results. Right now it looks like my retrieval will be on December 14th and the transfer will be on December 17th (day 3) or December 19th (day 5). My first pregnancy test will not be until December 28th. The second one will be on December 30th and the final results will be on January 1st, 2008. Talk about a HAPPY NEW YEAR for me, huh?. That would be the best ever if it worked on the first try. November 27th: I received a call from the Fertility center this morning. I will start the Gonal F (450cc) and the Low Dose HCG (15cc) tonight along with the Lupron (5cc). Tomorrow and Thursday I will take Gonal F (250cc each) in the morning and at night, low dose HCG (15cc) and lupron (5cc) at night. Then Friday morning I will take a dose of Gonal F (225cc) in the morning and then go back for more blood work and another ultrasound between 6 and 7:30 am. If those results come back as good as my last ones, my retreival date will be between December 7th and 9th and the transfer will be between December 10th and the 14th (depending on if its day 3 or 5). They keep changing these dates on me but my feeling is "the sooner the better". Let's get me a BFP right away. Everyone please pray for me. I wish you all luck and lots of ~*~babydust~*~. November 28th: Okay, so taking 3 shots at once is not so much fun but I keep reminding myself of the end results. I took my first morning shot of Gonal F (225cc) today and will have 3 shots again tonight. It will be the same for tomorrow and then just the morning shot of Friday and back to the fertility center between 6 and 7:30 am for more blood work and another ultrasound. I will then get further instructions for my meds and when to take my "trigger" shot (which is exactly 36 hours prior to retreival). I'll update more later in the week or over the weekend. November 30th: Went again this morning for blood work and an ultrasound. I had 15 folicles between both ovaries. And my blood work came back great. They are lowering my PM dose of Gonal F from 225cc to 150cc. I go back on Sunday morning for more blood work and another ultrasound. They think my retrieval will be either Thursday or Friday. I'll know more on Sunday when they call me with those results. They will adjust my meds if necessary and probably tell me when to take my "trigger" shot. December 3rd: Went for blood work and an ultrasound yesterday. Everything came back great. I have about 18 follicles (of which about 11 are good as of yesterday). They said I'll go back on Tuesday (tomorrow) for more blood work and another ultrasound and that my retreival may be Saturday or Sunday. They started my kitchen today so I have no stove, oven, sink or dishwasher. Not to mention there is only electricity in half my house until the electrician get there tomorrow to cut the live wires. December 4th: Just got back from the Fertility center. My blood results won't be in until later this afternoon but now they think my retreival will be on Friday. December 5th: Well my retreival surgery is definately Friday. My blood work from yesterday was good and my follicle count is 19 (with 11 at 10mm or bigger). I won't know until late Friday how many eggs they got. Then I will be notified on Monday morning how many are fertilized and viable for transfer. The transfer could be Monday afternoon or Wednesday afternoon. My first pregnacy test will be between December 21st and the 23rd. Oh, by the way, my kitchen is coming along. They are right on schedule and will be done with the cabinets by Friday. Then it's time for the painter and floor guy the week of December 10th. The cabinet guy will come back on December 14th to put the base molding around the bottom of my cabinets and put in the island. My appliances are being delivered on December 15th and the tile guy won't be in until after the New Year (hopefully on 1/4 or 1/5) to do my back splash. I will update my page again over the weekend. December 6th: Well, I went again this morning for blood work and an ultrasound. They just called and everything looks great. I have to be there by 8:30 tomorrow morning for retrieval surgery at 10. I will get a call later letting me know how many eggs they got. Then they will call me sometime on Saturday to let me know how may they were able to fertilize (we are having a procedure called ICSI - that's when they fertilize the eggs in the lab). December 10th: Retrieval surgery took about 12 minutes and went well on Friday. They got 24 eggs. 12 were fertilized (via ICSI) and there were 9 viable remaining when they called me on Saturday morning. The progesterone shots are going okay. The key is to keep buys for an hour after so my husband gives me the shot and then I start dinner. It's a little difficult as my kitecdh still isn't finished yet. It won't be done until next Monday. So they called me today and I have having a day 5 transfer (which will be 2 embryos). They will do my pregnancy test on December 23rd. I hope and pray this works the first time. December 27th: I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I needed some time to myself to absorb the results and get thru Christmas. I hope everyone had a good one. I spoke to my nurse yesterday and I have my follow up appointment on January 22nd at 6:00am. I only have one frozen embryo left so I have decided to do another full cycle (retrieval and transfer). I think my shots will start on day 21 (which is January 12th) and my next cycle should start on January 19th or 20th. This way make it easier as my follow up appointment will be on day 3 or 4 of my cycle so they can do the blood work while I'm already there. My retrieval and transfer won't be until early February (Hubbys birthday is the 5th) and pregnancy test will be around Valentine's Day or a little after. January 22nd: Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I've been working a lot and just had a friend of mine (3 weeks shy of her 40th birthday) pass away yesterday. She's in a much better place and finally at peace and pain free. My doctor cut back on my Lupron this cycle to 10 units. He want to slow down my developement so I don't get so many eggs this time. He wants quality not quantity. I started my shots on Saturday so my retrieval will be around the 10 of February. They want to do a day 3 transfer with 4 embryos this time. There is a 1-3% chance of having quads, a 5-9% chance of triplets and a 25-30% chance of twins. I'm a little nervous but the odds are low for multiples. January 29th: Okay, so now I have another friend who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melonoma. This totally sucks. I am waiting for AF to arrive so I can move to the next phase of my IVF cycle. Still taking the lupron and started spotting today. Hopefully, she'll be here in full force tomorrow. I'm anxious to get going here. If AF arrives tomorrow, my retrieval will be between February 12th and 15th and my transfer will be between February 15th and 18th. Since I'm having a day 3 transfer with 4 embryos, I should know by February 29th if it worked or not. February 4th: Well, I went for blood work and an ultrasound on Saturday. I have 14 follicles and started the Gonal F (350 units per day) and low dose HCG (15 units per day) along with 5 units of Lupron. So I am now taking 4 shots a day. Hubby started his antibiotic Saturday evening and will be taking that twice a day until my retrieval. I'm feeling very good about this cycle. February 6th: Had blood work and an ultrasound done yesterday. I have 14 follicles and my estrogen level was 326. I have to go back tomorrow for more blood work and another ultrasound. They think my retrieval will be the 10th or 11th now with a transfer on the 13th or 14th. My meds didn't change either. They said I am responding very well this cycle. February 15th: Well I had a great Valentine's Day. I was at the Fertility Center at 1:30 to start drinking water (bladder needs to be full). I went in the recovery room at about 2:00. My transfer was about 2:45 and took about 10 minutes. They put 4 embryos back. Then I had to lay there for 20 minutes afterwards. I finally got to go to the bathroom at 3:20 (I thought my bladder was going to explode). I think the best part was how my hubby was rushing into the transfer room before me. He's very excited for a little one. I hope this time is the charm. We got home at about 4:30 and met up with a friend and his kids for a hibachi dinner. It's his first Valentine's Day since his wife past away last month. He said he went to the cemetery to ask her for a little miracle for hubby and I. She was such a wonderful woman and I know she is asking God to grant our wish as I type this update. March 13th: So I woke up at 2 o'clock in the morning with the worlds worst soar throat again. I called the Doctor and he won't call in a prescription for me but can't see me today either. He's all booked up for the day. I was only there 3 weeks ago and found out I had strep throat. Hopefully, it's not that again. Anyway, I have my follow up next Wednesday and will update more then. March 18th: So, I went to see the doctor on the 14th and was diagnosed with strep throat (again), an ear infection and a sinus infection. He gave me two prescriptions and I finally started to feel better on the 16th. However, my allergies have been in full force since then. I've been sneezing and blowing my nose non-stop for 2 days now. Well, that's enough of that. Let's get on with my update (which is nothing really). I have my follow up doctors appointment tomorrow at 2:30pm and am hoping AF will show up between the 28th and 30th of this month so I can start my next cycle soon. I have been TTC for 27 months and have been on this site for 344 days and still no BFP. This will be my 3rd IVF cycle and insurance will only cover one more after this one. March 20th: I went to see the doctor yesterday. He can't understand why either one of the last two IVF cycles didn't work. Now he wants hubby & I to have chromosome tests done (blood test). I haven't had a chance to do much research on why he wants this done but I know if your chromosomes aren't complete (46 in each of us) and in the right order, it can lead to failed pregnancy attempts naturally or via IVF, miscarriages or failure to implant in IVF treatment. Then I have to go for another endometrial biopsy. I will not be starting my 3rd IVF cycle after my period starts next week. I have to get the results of all the tests back first and he said it can take up to two weeks for the chromosome tests to be completed. March 24th: Hubby and I went for blood work on Saturday. The chromosome test results should be in by April 7th. I went this morning for the endometrial biopsy. Those results should be in by March 31st. Hopefully all comes back well so we can move on and do another cycle. AF is due sometime this week. I'll update more once I get some results. April 1st: AF arrived today. I will go to the fertility center on the 21st for blood work and to start my shots. Next retreival and transfer won't be until mid-May. I still haven't gotten the test results back. My nurse said they should be in next week. If all is well, we move forward. If not, we will need to discuss what our next steps will be. April 3rd: This site was much easier to navigate the old way. Anyway, AF is here in full force. I spoke to my nurse today and she is ordering my meds. May 11th: Happy Mother's Day to all... Had blood work and an ultrasound done yesterday. I now have 26 follicles. My estrogen was .9 and my progesterone was 1,234. Not really sure what that means but the nurse said it was good. I go back tomorrow for more blood work and another ultrasound. I hope my retrieval will be later this week with my transfer early next week. I have plans to go away from May 30th to June 1st and don't want to have to cancel them. My girlfriend is celebrating her birthday at a spa (gift from her husband) and asked if I wanted to join her. With all the stress in my life right now, it sounded like a great idea. May 17th: The retrieval was very emotional for me yesterday. Was crying the whole time and told my husband I didn't want to do it. After they had to move my IV twice, I finally went in. They got 26 eggs of which 19 were good quality. Of those 19, they fertilized 17 and will call me on Monday with my transfer day and time (either Monday or most likely Wednesday). May 21st: Well my transfer was Monday afternoon. Of the 17 that fertilized, there were only 4 left so they did the transfer on day 3. They were 8 cell embryos but they said my odds were very low. I have decided that this is my last cycle. I have one frozen embryo that I may use in the future but my body is telling me to stop now. This cycle was way to emotional and I don't think I can go thru it anymore. I have my progesterone test this Friday and my pregnancy test next Friday. Then I leave for my spa weekend. May 28th: I started spotting yesterday and have very mild cramps today. I guess this isn't meant to be. I hope I don't have AF for spa weekend. That would not be good. June 2nd: Unfortunately, I'm not pregnant and I'm not going thru this anymore. I can't keep putting my heart into this and not get a BFP in the end. Three was not the charm for me and I'm pretty much done. I have a follow up appointment on July 23rd at 6:30 in the morning and then I'm done. June 9th: My follow up appointment was changed from July 23rd to June 5th and I honestly have no idea what was discussed. I had my best friend admitted to hospice the day before and was told she would not make it thru the weekend. Well, unfortunately, they were right this time and she passed away at 10:45 pm on Friday, June 6th (just 6 months after being diagnosed with malignant melanoma stage 4). She just turned 34 in March and was such a lively person. I will miss her with all my heart and am thankful that she is finally in peace with no pain. As far as my fertility treatment is concerned, I'm not sure where I stand with that. I have one frozen embryo but I am most likely taking a couple months off and will decide what I'm going to do after I call my doctor back next month for another consultation. I'll update more soon. July 22nd: I don't think things are really working out. It's seems like it's pretty much over. We were supposed to go away from August 2 thru the 9th and then have our final embryo transfer (the one we had frozen) in September. I know that's not happening.
