My name is Stacey. I am 39 yrs. old. I have a son that will be 18 in March and a daughter that just turned 12 in July. I am expecting again!! I was very very shocked!! We were not trying, but anytime a woman and a man share the same bed "you are trying!" I have been married almost 20 yrs. and we are a very happy family....we have had our trials but have come out victorious!! my husband was diagnosed with cancer 3 yrs. ago and has been in remission for 2 yrs...

I am excited about this website...I have never been one to respond much on the internet but have been reading post from several of you that have helped me a great deal!! I am excited to be a part of the generation of moms that never desire the "empty nest" LOL

February 1st

I am 12 weeks and 2 days today...I am feeling so much better!!! I was very sick and tired at first!! I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks, when I went I thought I was 8 weeks, BUT when the tech put the doppler on my stomach this baby pops up on the screen with arms, legs, bone structure in the face and was moving around..the tech said "Mrs. Hampton you are not 8 weeks!!" so they moved my due date. Since we have a boy and girl it really doesn't matter the sex....BUT :) we would all like another girl :)...I go back to the doctor Feb. 12th but I think it will be way to soon to tell the sex.

March 8

I haven't posted in a while..just been enjoying reading vip pages...:) I am 171/2 weeks today and find out Tuesday boy/girl...I really still do not feel pregnant at all!!! I thought I had felt the baby move alot at 14 weeks but don't feel it much anymore...I do still have occasional flutters and thumps but not everyday...I do not have anymore sickness or cravings...doing pretty good on the weight...my son will be 18 tomorrow!! yeh!! it seems like yesterday he was born :( I had the strangest dream Thursday night...I dreamed I went in for u/s and the nurse took the baby out of my stomach...he had on a little cloth to cover his privates...and the cloth was dry even after coming out of the fluid ??? we lifted the cloth and saw he was a he and he was the most beautiful baby with big brown eyes...he just looked at me and then his dad and made no expression...the nurse put him back in and literally zipped me up like a ziploc bag!! LOL my life is very calm and I have everything to be thankful for!! after Tuesday I will begin shopping for baby items....several ladies in my church will give me a shower later in the pregnancy. (considering my youngest is 12) I thought we were waaaaayyyyyy finished having babies....never would have dreamed I would be preg. at 39!!! I will post again on Tuesday...

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Thanks I appreciate the response. He is a very considerate and loving husband... I just didn't think he would react that way to pregnancy. It caught me off guard...but most things with pregnancy seem to nowadays :)

Hi I am v passionate about vaccination issues...I live in a v natural open minded place in australia (homebirth, empowered mothers, breastfeeding etc etc)...I read up alot on vaccination and we have a g8 organisation here started by a mother with a vaccination injured child (AVN they have website)..I decided NO WAY and breastfed both my boys for 2 years..i felt a natural vaccination..my 2nd got whooping cough and we rode thru it with love, breastmilk, and gave him all my time..he got thru more healthy than ever..I also read that vaccination can put chn back in terms of emotional/physical development etc..what worries me most is the unnatural substances used from animals, mercury, formaldehide etc all carcionagenic substances...anyway thats my thoughts after lots of research but it is personal decision..RESEARCH everything if u are concerned...I am now 45 1/2 pregnant naturally with baby no. 3....all best to you x

I have heard a lot of moms about their concerns regarding vaccinations. I agree with what everyone else has said here. Educate yourself on both sides of the issue. Some say that the preservative thimerosal (which is a mercury derivative) has been the cause of the link between vaccines and autism. But the thing is vaccine makers are no longer using thimerosal in vaccinations (except some adult ones). Even so, just find out what you can and go from there. It's a personal choice. But I would also encourage you to not let fear be a motivation for whatever you decide.

I had concerns about vaccinations too, and since it is such a personal choice, I will tell you what I did to help me decide--rather than try to tell you what to do. I read a few books and articles about the vaccination issue. I also made sure I found a pediatrician that would not push me into having them if I did not want to. I nursed my son for almost 2 years and never put him in day care, so I had plenty of time to research and think about my options. I ultimatley took the pediatrician's advice, because I trust him and did not feel like he was biased or just pushing me to do what everyone else does. I appreciated his patience and willingness to discuss all my options. So I recommend that you educate yourself and get a great pediatrician. Ultimately, you want to make the decision that you will not regret no matter what and only you know what that decision is. Good luck!

Hi! Congratulations to you and yours on your impending bundle of joy!

I read your concerns regarding vaccinations... it's a contentious issue, but all I have to say to you is educate yourself - check out the web, speak to as many health care professionals as you can, gather info and make up your own mind as to whether it's for you or not. I was sorry to hear about that lady who's child has autism, but do remember that they have no idea what causes autism, nor is there any definitive criteria as to what autism is, that's why there is such a broad spectrum of people that fall into autism. For example, my work colleague's 5 year is hyper-intelligent (honestly has the mentality and vocab of a 12 year old), and is easily bored by his classes - they've labelled him autistic. Also remember that, as sad as it is, when there something wrong with someone's child, especially something as inexplicable as autism (most research on it to date is purely speculative), the parents' minds will of course try to find something to blame for the condition.

In anything, you will have conflicting accounts - for example I received EVERY vaccination, and I was fine - my sister received EVERY vaccination, and she had a severe learning disability and attention deficit disorder... coincidence? Individuality I think.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck - take 'horror stories' into account, but try not to be too swayed either way. Your mind is your own, as is your child. Babies are born and vaccinated by their millions today, with no ill effects.

All the best!

staceyh, with my first kids, I waited to vaccinate until they were at least 6 months (doctors got mad at me for that). After that I did the most crucial vaccines - like polio. I waited with other vacccines until it was time to go to the kindergarten. For the first weeks and months I severily limited people contact to the babies allowing only close relatives to visit. I even refused to take my babies to the doctor office for the first 2 or three months out of fear they catch something bad. Everything was fine. I intend to do something like that this time also. There is very low risk of child becoming autistic because of vaccines (only one case was confirmed so far, and think of how many babies vaccinated each year). But there are numerous other risks including impairement of immune system while it forms. But if you plan to lead social life with your baby from the start, than think about polio and wooping cough being life treatening and still common. Also collect as much info as possible before making decision.

Stacey, thanks for the message! It sounds like you may have been more shocked than I was, as I don't have teenagers! It sounds like you and your family are very happy - what a blessing. My husband and I will soon celebrate 12 happy years of marriage together and that certainly makes a wonderful difference. This is not what I thought would be part of my 40th birthday year, but I don't think I've ever been happier. Keep me posted and have a great weekend!

That is so funny Max rings! Our parrot's name is Maynard. :)
He has a variety of sounds like the cat meow, microwave beeping, the dog's squeeky toy and many more. We are night owls a little bit so Maynard wakes up kinda late but he lets me know when he is ready to start the day.
He goes on his perch stand when he wakes up so that excites him.
I have been readng that the baby will come accustomed to noises in the womb like the dog and door bell and so on.
We shall see!
We are having a boy. Keep me posted...nice to have a friend here :)

HI! Thanks for the comment. It is nice to speak to someone with an African Grey too. We live in AZ so dust is an issue at any rate I suppose. Ours doesn't produce much dust but he gets a bath everyday. We have had him for 12 yrs. He is a screamer at times during the morning otherwise well behaved. My only concern with him is his am screaming (it is a ritual) and waking the baby up. I guess baby will get used to it. I can just see a screaming match between the two of them.
:)
Keep in touch

Thank you for the comments you left for me. I agree that some women are just in their own world and choose to be rude out of jealousy or something like it. I have a friend (my best friend cough* cough)and she is is like, oh, better you than me. That is such a lie!! She wants another baby badly but her husband told her no way. I don't understand why she can't just be honest with me. And she hasn't been negative in the same way as others, but she is the first (her children are the second) to say how big I look. I am only 11 weeks!! Ugh!

I am happy though even if others aren't!!

Take care and congratulations on your new little bundle of love!

Congrats I am 37. I am 33 weeks preggo. This is my 5th pregnancy, I have a 12, 13, and 16 yr old. We lost our last daughter 4 years ago, she is waiting in heaven for me. Good luck in this new start. It is a shocker on us Moms that thought we were done for ever. God definitely has plans of his own. I prayed God would do his will in our lives and well the next month we were pregnant. Its a wonderful gift from God that we are getting very excited about. I will be induced at 39 weeks so I have another 6 weeks to go. God Bless.
